Frank Myler. Sublime Rugby League player, superb golfer! What a sportsman. My Dad was his mate, they played snooker at the golf club most nights. When asked Frank was honoured to carry my Dad at his funeral. Frank Myler - excellent sportsman, excellent man.
The late, great Roger Millward. One of the best.
Subscribed..Roger Millward was my hero , as a kid I loved going to Craven Park with me dad, especially floodlit matches where the atmosphere was always electric.I remember Alan Burwell on the wing, big Phil Lowe, Flash Flanagan among lots of others..great days.
👍🏼🏉👌🏼
Great memories and great players! Thanks for subscribing. 👍🏼
@@AndyGrundy10as an 8 year old i was so excited when the great Arthur Beetson signed for Rovers and totally devastated when after only 12 games he broke his leg in the local derby against Hull on Christmas day 1968..
Roger Millward was brilliant during this series. International football was authentic back then.

Hard to believe this was the LAST time the poms beat the kangaroos in a test series 🤣🤣😱
It is hard to believe. Who knows, maybe in the World Cup this year! By the way, kindly think about subscribing if you will. I will do some videos during the World Cup and more RL in the future in general! 👍🏼
Good video Andy, how’s if going pal. All he best Cush
Hi Phil, how’s things old friend? I’m not too bad mate, just recovering at the moment from a ruptured patellar tendon, coaching the youngsters at Wigan. Frustratingly slow recovery, but I’ll get there eventually. Hope you are well mate! 👍🏼
A Liverpool kiss. In later days called a Glasgow kiss?
Australia is Rugby League’s Mecca. In France it got bad rep after a televised finale totally degenerated, which led to a media ban. Albeit, it was/is even more regional than rugby union was before it turned pro (Union was predominantly played in the south west and Mediterranean region with a couple of clubs in Paris… League’s best teams were all around Perpignan: XIII Catalan, Pia, St Esteve, with some around tToulouse, Lyon and Bordeaux). In my youth in the late 70’s, 80’s and 90’s it was totally marginal in terms of licensees. We did have a club in my home town but totally overshadowed by Union. So it never got the critical mass to make it a prime sport like it is in Australia. I find it a bit too chopped (a bit like the NFL) for my own taste, but if I’d grown up in NSW, I would have probably played it.
Some really interesting points. I played for England Rugby League schoolboys over in the South of France in the mid 90’s and that’s the place the game still looked to have some interest and growth. Now we are seeing the game in France gaining some real momentum/traction and just as importantly, government support. One must remember, the game in France has had long political issues/favouritism between both codes, akin in some respects to here in the UK. That even included during the WW2 the Germans stripping RL of their belongings and given them over to RU, stopping play of the code! Thanks for the message and please kindly consider subscribing!
