  • My school concert band played this piece last year, and my conductor let me play it with them (im in wind ensemble, which is more advanced) because i had requested it. Nearly cried on stage. HTTYD has been my favorite orchestral work for years, and I’d been waiting to play it since I was in 6th grade. Last year in 11th I fulfilled my dream. He even put together string parts for it so the younger strings could make it a full orchestra. I’m so happy to see other people playing this arrangement, or even just these scores. They’re breathtaking all these years later just the same as when I first watched the movie and fell in love. Awesome playing ❤

In the original score violin and flute most likely had the same part(and then when it was arranged for concert band violin got taken out) or flutes had something different but whoever arranged this piece for concert band decided that the violin part was more important and gave it to the flutes. Either way this person is talking about the same song, just different arrangements lol

  • Im playing this as a bari sax in an orchestra where the trombones just SCREAM, and i say, this hole shabang has a deficit of BASSari SOUND, if i cant hear THE BOOM of the bari it aint good! in the first staccato, i heard only either the basson or the bass clarinet so im dissapointed in the lack of the best sax

  • We got to play this and we had attempted to play it in 8th grade before covid hit. I was the only who remembered how to play it the first time we did it. Definitely shocked the other flutes... Go muscle memory. 😂

  • played this arrangement in 8th grade and the amount of practice for the 3 bar trumpet solo and the amount of stupid listening required to remember the main triplet melody

  • i played this my freshman year as a tenor sax (now i play bari sax) and we had no horns so i basically had a solo with the triplet part and i rushed them 💀💀 then my conductor made me stand up at the end of the concert after he didn't tell me i had to before the concert 💀 see a spring concert with the GLHS combined comet and concert bands 5-17-2022 on the grand ledge bands youtube if you wanna see how we played

  • Fellow flutists here. You really carried the section with that quality! You guys just needed a bit tuning, otherwise it would be almost perfect (for the flutes)!
