This is a selection of key pointers from Siddharameshwar taken from the website Inner Quest. You can find more of his teachings here: www.inner-quest.org/Siddharam...
Siddharameshwar Maharaj is one of the greatest unknown saints of the age who attained the highest abode of Eternal peace. He was born in August 1888 in the small village of Pathri, in the district Sholapur of India. From 1925 until 1936, he taught many disciples and helped dozens attain Self-realisation. His teachings were further spread around the globe by his most revered disciples, such as Ranjit Maharaj, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Muppin Kaadsiddheshwar Maharaj and Ganapatrao Maharaj Kannur. His samadhi shrine today is located at Banganga, Walkeshwar in Bombay.

  • If you have a dream that you are wrestling with a bear, wether you win or loose, is irrelevant. Because in the morning when you wake up there will be no bear to be found, no victory to be celebrated or no defeat to be sad about, because it was just a dream. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Maharaj, this man had made me realize the life we are living in now is a very big dream, and wether you recognize it or not, it doesn't change anything at all. Now I'm on my way of waking up from this actual big dream. Just don't know how much time it'll take. Thanks again samaneri for the sharing, All my love to you !

    • "If it needs time it is false!" ~ Nisargadatta. It will take no time - as time is not real - this is the illusion. The waking up happens only here and now. Reality is timeless and always available to us to recognise and realise. Of course, all the veils and vasanas may take "time" to drop at a relative level, but at an Ultimate level it is only possible to be free from the illusion NOW. 🤗🌺

  • 3:35 I love all analogies between the waking and the dream state; while in the latter, the moment you realize the nature of the dream, fear subsides, and when you're again caught up in the dream action and you lose consciousness, fear (and all the rest) arises through the attachment with the illusion. I am left to wonder how a similar, profound insight about the nature of the waking state would transform one's life...!

Then you may continue to live another 50 years, or die tonight, it wouldn't bother you. What would the guru tell you? That you are already the unborn, ultimate reality. • My guru, who left his body a decade ago, sometimes visits me with his energy. Ill wake up and at 3 am meditate in witness consciousness. During these times, i see the ego and how its more like an echo the more into witness consciousness you are. There is almost no fear there (almosr because its still a bit of a back and forth struggle) That being said, in those moments i realize how silly anxiety is. But then so easily i then go back to sleep and wake up and go about my day. Even today ive been having crippling anxiety. I know why. I know how foolish it is. But its really, really hard to dis identify from it in the hustle and bustle of life.

  • Thanks for all your Videos. I Really lovely to listen to them as I fall asleep 🥰. If may ask a question..not expecting any answer. I've struggled for many years, quitting my career...trying to design a personal project. It's been Beyond Procrastination Hell. 😀 I've also during this time (A few decades) read up, listened to, practiced and enjoyed all the Eastern theories. My stumbling block has always been, in a slightly Nihilism type way...how can I do Anything...if I drop my Ego and Mental chatter? I feel doing anything Mentally based... Is ego / attachment based? If a teacher writes a book, or creates anything...that is surely based on a thinking mind. Emptiness has been great, but I'm starving and need to work / do something. Is it Egotistical to want to be successful in my ambition... But isn't any Action ... craving? A Buddhist Monk writing a book...isn't that Desire / attachment for it to be written correctly for others to benefit from? I can see why many became Ascetic and simply Stare at a wall. I am love the Zazen approach personally. 😀 I guess the answer... I know deeply would be Ethical Work..Simple Life..or to join a Buddhist/Hindu ashram. All I've heard about is dropping the Persona/ No desire etc. I've never heard much about how to integrate that Mental framework into a Pursuit which requires Thinking. I guess Enlightenment / Emptiness can also be seen as Desire. Any Action is in some way Attachment. How to achieve a Purpose, and be Egoless? Anyways... Im blabbering on. Thanks kindly for all that you do. Ps. My project is all about the nature of Reality, created Virtually. Experienced in Video Games Career for 20 years....so I guess I've opened a Pandora's Box all by myself. Gulp. 😀

    • When you understand that you are not the doer, then you will know that no one is doing the act. The act is happening, a body is working, a mind is working, but none of these are yours. There is no separation between ego and selflessness. These are things that the body and mind just experience. Let the body and mind do that which feels natural. Don't make them who you are. Siddharameshwar's student Nisargadatta (and a guru himself) ran a corner store and made and sold cigarettes for a living. Be that which Nisargadatta is, and not his actions.

    • Thanks for sharing these questions and dilemmas in regards to this issue as I think it is a common one. When we take up a spiritual practice and start to read books and hear stories about the exemplary practices and life of the Masters, we may then imagine this is the same level of perfection that we have to attain in order to be ‘spiritual’. We struggle painfully to live up to these images and ideals of perfection and some get on a spiritual trip that is full of delusion and denial. But these are simply ideals and ideals are not reality. We have to be willing to be honest and meet ourselves as we are in this moment without all the ideals and concepts of spiritual perfection running around in our heads, as we can never live up to them as you have intimated. When we look deeply within ourselves, we see all the delusions, confusions, and self-deceptions that are present that are the very fabric of our existence in these human forms. But this is where we have to start. We have to be authentic, genuine and real in order to move beyond ignorance and come out of suffering. When the ego constructs are seen through more and more, then we can just live our lives without too much planning, manipulation and pontificating. Things can just flow and unfold - and they will do so differently for each person as we are all unique and have individual karma. No two individuals’ life energy will express itself in the exact same way. Hence, the reason why we should not attempt to parrot and superficially copy somebody else. As spiritual practitioners, to be honest and humble and to live an ordinary life without a load of ambition is fine, is it not? But if life takes you on a wild trajectory of fame, fortune, and success due to one’s desires and karma then that is fine too; but it means one has to face and deal with all that entails. There will be lessons to be learnt whatever way life expresses itself and unfolds, but the outward expression is not really of much importance. What is important is the inner work and wisdom and insight that needs to develop in order to deepen our understanding and release ourselves from this illusion of being separate selves. Hope some of my ramblings also help.

    • The mind is like a calculator you must gain control over it not it over you , then you become its lord .That's why Sri ramana maharishi' techniques are useful , of distinguishing who is the thought and the primordial" I".Stop focusing on thinking too much on things but where do your thoughts come from when you "see " your thoughts as separate from you will see they are not you .A stage will come when you can separate thoughts from the voice of intuition, sometimes they mere by intuition or gut feeling is distinct. Read Avatar Meher Babas discourses specifically chapters on the provisional Ego .With regards to what someone else said on nisargdutta maharaj's proffesion ( running a corner store ) , masters such as him are in varying degrees or completely beyond the grip of maya , hence aping the masters is not advisable , meher babas famous dictum was "do as I say , and don't do as I do ." " A Perfect master is beyond the normal bounds of maya and sanskaras , his activities are beyond the scope of one's limited human understanding."
