Time for the Barn Owl Chicks to Fly the Nest | Discover Wildlife | Robert E Fuller

The barn owl chicks have fledged. My cameras caught all the action as they prepared for their first flights, flapping their wings to strengthen their wing muscles and hopping up the sides of the nest box. Then the important day came when the most adventurous chick bobbed up to the entrance of the nest hole.
As they practised, their parents brought them food. Interestingly, it was mainly the male who fed them, bringing small rodents and voles. Then at 9 weeks old the first two chicks fledged the nest. It was magical to see them fly free.
These two owlets moved into the tawny owl's old nest box, Beech Stump, leaving the third chick in Elm Stump alone. Interestingly there was a stock dove already in this box sitting on eggs. Despite being so young, the two owlets pushed it out. There was even more drama when a jackdaw invaded the nest and tucked in to one of the stockdove's eggs!
This last chick didn't look well. It was lethargic and stumbled often. I kept a close eye on it, but gradually the owlet recovered and is now also flying free.
The barn owlets remained in the garden for a few more weeks. Meanwhile, their parents were making plans for a new family! The adult pair moved into the kestrel's old nest box, Sycamore Stump, and the female laid four more eggs. So we are now waiting for another brood here at Fotherdale!

  • I'm glad that the two young barn owls found a temporary residence after leaving the nest, but I can't help but feel sorry for the poor stockdove who lost her eggs. I wonder if the last chick's abnormal behavior was due to illness, or if it was simply feeling a bit lonely and depressed from being left behind by its siblings.

    @tehdipstick@tehdipstick2 жыл бұрын
    • It is impossible to tell - perhaps an illness that it recovered from - I am just happy that it fledged and was seen flying around.

    • @@marymikel9193 True Orthodoxy is the first Orthodoxy, that is, perfect teaching of Jesus Christ. God’s Orthodoxy is the perfect education for all His children. That proves the perfect knowledge and life. True Orthodoxy is the perfect faith of Jesus. In the perfect faith of Jesus there is no sin, and also there is perfect obedience to the Father always, which is what He wants. The perfect faith of Jesus is the only true Orthodoxy for every true believer to follow. The perfect teachings of Jesus educates us to live in holiness and perfection like He does always. You can only receive this education personally without error from the Gospel of Christ with the help of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. “Without me you can do nothing,” John 15:5 The second orthodoxy is the false orthodoxy created by the knowledge of man. That is the “so called orthodoxy” of the people. In the faith of the devil, there is sin and disobedience. Saint Peter, an Apostle of Christ, said, “For it is written, be Holy for I am Holy.” This is a command from the Lord for all of us to be holy. God wants us to be holy, the Gospel teaches us to be holy, and the Creed of the Apostles states we must be holy. Jesus is the only head of the Church for He is Holy and every member of His body, the believers, must be holy. Sin can never be connected with Jesus. So if we are the body of Christ, we must be holy in order to be connected with the head, Jesus. So are you really holy? The devil and his servants don’t want you to be holy while telling you that you cannot be holy and perfect. But Jesus says in Matthew 5:48 “Be perfect just as your Father in heaven is Perfect.” The devil’s servants give you a subtly twisted version of the truth and justify excuses for sinning. Then you are not holy, remain in sin, and therefore belong to the body of the devil. The devil’s will is fulfilled because he wants you to continue in sin, while being his disciples without even knowing it. Sin is demonic knowledge that forms the orthodoxy of the devil. Continuing in sin is against the will of God, and that’s why Jesus told us to truly repent. True repentance is to replace the knowledge of your mind from the sinful knowledge to the perfect and sinless knowledge of God. It also means changing your life from sinfulness to holiness. Every believer must do this. For that reason, Jesus gave us His perfect teaching which helps us to take sin out of our minds and lives. The Lord then called His teaching, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God according to Mark 1:15. The Gospel of Christ is the perfect wisdom of God and the perfect education for every mind and soul anywhere. So if you want to be a True Orthodox or Catholic, you must accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and come totally to Him. Ask Him to forgive you and to help you. Start reading His Gospel and Jesus will help you understand the correct meaning of His teaching. Ask Jesus to send you the Holy Spirit for He says “The Holy Spirit will teach you all the Truth,” John 16:13. The Holy Spirit is above any preacher and any clergymen. Start to read the Bible every day and the Lord will save you and help you to become a true follower. • @@violinmaestroknight9347 I understand what you're saying but we both know the Son of the most high is Hebrew correct? Well there is no letter 'J' in ancient Hebrew 'Jesus Christ' is not his native or true name. I see you study scripture so I also encourage you to study these names "Yashua" (that is the son) "Yah" (that is the father) and "Ruach Hakodesh" (that is the holy spirit) lastly, "Hamashiach" (that is anointed one). Also, you and I both know that in scripture it says to call upon the name of the father correct? Well, God or Lord are not names those are title's and just to inform you, the father dose infact have a name which he wants you to all him by.
