  • Easy design, easy instructions, and most of all, I love how there is no waste in this design! So many feeder designs leave food at the bottom of the reservoir and the birds can't get at it and the food eventually rots. Not your design! Very good! Thank you.

  • Ever since my budgies' babies came out of the nest and started eating on their own, I've been experiencing trouble with them always walking in the seed and it flying onto the ground, wasting my money. The feeder I use is a plastic bottle glued onto a plate with holes on the bottom. It refills. Looks like the problem is that the seed that falls from the bottle on my feeder is out in the open and so giving the babies the opportunity to walk all over it. I think making this one would help, so thank you for the brilliant DIY idea.

  • Awesome! But maybe it would be good to cover these notches with some tape...? Smaller birds have the habit of sitting on these wiped edges. And they can injure their feet. I will make a feeder for the winter, as You have shown here. :)) Well done! Thank You very much ! :)

    • I was thinking the edges are very sharp for tiny bird feet too. I like your idea though. If more people cared for our animals and birds doing projects like this some species wouldn't be on the brink of extinction

    • Nice idea but they don't feel anything in their feet because they are made from dead cells thays why they can sit on the electric line without any problem and they are hard enough to not to get cut by these types of edges

  • How I make mine is, since I live in Canada here are a lot of porcupine trees so I take a porcupine and cover it with peanut butter, and dip it in bird feed, things like rice, beans, crumpled bread peaces etc, and hang it with a string and put it on a tree!! I needed a bird feeder since a little sparrow made a nest for the first time in our house and it's so tiny and cute I love it!!!!!!!!

  • love this idea!! let's ask the manufacturers of the plastic bottles / containers to post these ideas on their packaging and on their websites. If the plastic is being used, then it's not waste! it will give them some time too to switch to biodegradable materials without risk of smaller manufacturers going to the wall. Any thoughts readers?
