    • @@erasedshallbehisname5100 my friend, remembering the classics is the most efficient process of humanization and cultural refinement. Human neurodevelopment depends on culturally inherited information for its neuroplasticity to be harnessed. When we quote an "ancient" philosopher, we do not mean just the content of the sentence, but the fact that that information is rooted in the process of historical intellectual development of that civilization... Indeed, in the Internet age people are being born with less IQ, they only see the obvious and the superficial. My condolences for your education, or lack thereof.

    • @@maurocavalcante6131 Bollocks. You should read a bit of Nietzsche, especially his essay on history and it's meaning for life, instead of just quoting overused aphorism, because he would laugh at You after reading this. He mocks blind obedience for tradition just for the sake of it, he mocks any form of cultural enslavement by what's considered "classic", especially when it comes to philosophical and literary tradition. "Tradition is a higher authority we listen not because it orders us to do something useful, but because it orders" ("The Dawn", I quote from memory, yet I believe it's pretty accurate).

  • It's currently 10:54pm here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and I am laying in my bed, headphones in with volumes on high and I am listening to this beautiful masterpiece in its entirety. Often times with my eyes closed shut in the pitch black darkness but occasionally I will open to them and glance out of my bedroom window into the night sky, staring off into space and at that very moment I am at peace, no politics, not hatred going on in the world. Just pure love and emotion. And that is what makes this type of music so powerful and truly a work of art. The fact that there can be a video that is 40 minutes long without a single word being said yet it speaks so much at the same time. I just wish everyone in this world could experience this and feel the same way that all of us here feel about music like this

  • So, I was a junkie for most of the 2000's-2010's so my time was spent keeping my habit going. I had no time or drive for discovery of new music. This really sucked because music was a massive part of my life for my first 20 years. Now that I have some clean time I'm getting back into discovering new music. I had never heard of "post-rock" until hearing Pelican about 2 years ago. Channels like yours have given me a way to let my mind really wander in a positive way. Thanks to you, and a few others (like SMOD'S channel), I find myself on a seemingly endless journey of musical discovery. I guess what I am trying to say is thank you. Your channel effects people's lives in more ways than you were probably not aware of.

  • This is such an emotionally charged album for me. I'm 24. I feel every day like there's an ocean's worth of energy jumbled up inside me, desperately yearning for release, and I have so much trouble channeling it. "Distant Dream," the hollowly echoing first few chords, summons that energy to the surface like a pentagram. I need to bury that energy to be able to siphon it slowly and take little steps every day to learning what I need to learn, practice what I need to practice. I don't think I'll be able to listen to this album for a while until I feel like I'm in a better place. As odd and personal this comment is, I'm so glad this album exists and I don't know how to thank Distant Dream for making this incredible music.

  • 1000 of those million views are mine. I listen to this far more than I should. I create obstacles to overcome so I can celebrate milestones by binge listening to this album. I'll eat this last slice of pizza, milestone. I'll refill my water filter, milestone. Just give me more reasons to listen to this great album. I'm close, but not quite there yet. There are a couple albums I wasnt ready for yet. So Distant Dream and Sithu are still listened to until my mind advances to the level of readiness. I was supposed to wait 1 year. Just couldnt resist. Post Rock is where I dwell.
