    • My thoughts exactly for $1.5 million I would buy a Renegade super C and trailer then tow my off roading vehicle rather than taking this Earthroamer which looks like it's about 30+ ft long, 8+ ft wide and 13-14 ft tall which is too large to do any real off roading. Also you would save money because you can get a brand new Renegade Ikon(the top model) for around $700k and a Renegade stacker trailer is about $100k for a good one that is still only around $800k then you could take $200k and build the best off road vehicle you could think of and still have paid $500k less than the EarthRoamer so you could go buy a few houses with that $500k as base camps around the US so it wouldn't matter how for you were travelling. To me this is the best option rather than going off roading in your RV.

    • I agree no one is going off-roading in Colorado with that huge ass thing. You will still be at the same camp sites as everyone else. Plus the more one spends for most people the more careful one is, you won't see people tearing this up by off-roading it so at the end of the day what is it about? I believe it's about bragging rights, look what I have type of deal and to be different. Also remember this is built as a show vehicle to say "LOOK what we can build", plus the $1.5 million is a wish price more then a firm price with this sort of thing I'm sure if you walked in and said I love that but my price is $1,000,000 they probably sell you THAT unit. To have a company and to create something like that and then write it all off as business expense is just sweet. So good for them.

They were building a custom luxury expedition vehicle based on a Man heavy duty transport chassis. It was nearly complete, and the cost was around 1.8 million. Even though it cost more, it (to me), represented more value for the money. Their vehicle could go places EarthRoamer could only dream about. I do like EarthRoamer, but I'd like to know how they came to price this particular vehicle.

  • Very nice unit and part of me has always admired them. But lately I've looked at a lot of 'expedition vehicles' (EV) going places and have never seen one Earth Roamer except in ads and at their company sponsored get togethers. Plus, the places a lot of camper go off road are simply too small for a 30' vehicle. Plus there are a lot of European EV's that cost 1/3 of this almost as well equipped on an Iveco, Man or Mercedes chassis, not to mention the Australian Earth Cruiser made here now, which is smaller, just as capable and much cheaper (but not as luxurious). I see this as the Bentley of EV's, but not too useful, practical or affordable for everyday driving.

      @tavo24vv19@tavo24vv196 жыл бұрын
    • Tavo24vv right but they have to custom mold the camper shell and they have to convert the truck itself to four wheel drive cuz a stock f750 is only two wheel drive and converting a truck from two wheel drive to four wheel drive is a huge job in and of itself. And then they have to run the plumbing and the electrical stuff and they have to install the cabinets and everything else. That all takes time. They started building this in the spring of 2016 and they're just now revealing it. Plus this is the very first f750 earthroamer which means that it also involved a lot of engineering and problem solving. All that stuff adds up. Plus you have the cost of materials (which are very high end). And of course they have to make a profit so that they can expand their business so that they can draw in more customers. All that stuff adds up as well. And each earthroamer is custom built (for the most part) by hand, and that takes a lot of skill and experience.
