  • For anyone wanting to get into excavation operator and machinery work, especially new young folk, this man's work handling is superb. As an owner operator who pays the bills, he uses his machinery but doesn't abuse them. It's his nature that comes out to work through his hands eyes and mind. Thanks Chris for sharing. It's art at work. G'day from New Zealand.

I wish the multiple videos of the large projects were in a Playlist so I can watch the jobs progression from start to finish. Instead of searching through all the videos to find part 2 and then searching again for part 3. But other than that...... I will watch the videos for hours. Keep them coming.

  • Great idea to crush the concrete for base for the parking lot. It may not be enough for the entire parking lot (dunno how big it is) but good resource (and maybe cost) management. Part of business/project management is cost control and planning the most optimal low cost most productive use of equipment process and time. The new rake does that as well.

  • In 1990, my neighbors were in the middle of building an indoor riding arena when a wind storm came along and blew down the trusses before the roof was in place. They gave me the wood for removing it, and started over. The kiln-dried wood burned great in my wood stove! This brought back memories of digging nails and truss plates out of the ashes. The ashes went under fruit trees and the metal got recycled.

They sold the property to a Shopping Center Developer. He spent a year digging out all the Concrete, then another 6 months crushing it up.. They brought most of the property back to grade. And the wood section they made into a Ball Park/Soccer Fields for the Community.

  • I once poured a concrete slab for the garbage cans. It was almost 4 feet wide and about 8 inches thick. I hand mixed in 5 gallon buckets 22 bags of ready mix sakrete. My fingernails hurt like crazy for a fair spell. I hand vibrated it each poured bucket until it was glass smooth. When the company decided to take mine out and pour fresh to get all concrete looking the same maybe? Their full size excavator couldn't break it even when they put an edge on another slab. They then tried to put it whole into the dump truck and hoses started to leak and the big dump truck bed sank down about 6 to 9 inches. Much lower than it was when they brought in the river rock. You should have heard the sound it made too. I bet it dented the floor. Now knowing the size and details, why didn't it break? It took over 2 years before snow was able to accumulate on the surface. BTW, no reinforcement at all. I didn't want iron oxide in it.
