I used your feedback on the last video to try and cut out some repetitiveness and unnecessary chit-chat, how did I do? I'd love to hear more feedback & video ideas! :)
I think the video was really great! Maybe you could do a video about the different types of architecture in different cities? (For example Vancouver's architecture!)
@@illusikari Thats a great idea!
Very clean video and pretty dense too. Hopefully it doesn’t eat into your build time too much to make them this polished.
In one video I saw that you shouldn’t use too many skyscrapers but I know places such as Hong Kong which are dominated by them why could that be and how would you avoid it? - this is just a question I have and maybe a possible video idea. Anyway I like your videos on a city and I’m making my own too
What shader do you use?
The one dislike is from a road planner who’s probably frightened Alpine is gonna steal his job.

Pretty nice video, but for someone who already drives a car and had to learn this in drivers ed, it might've been a bit more informative to describe the process of building this in minecraft and less of basic road signage and rules
Yeah that’s what I was thinking aye
Thank you for making this video. Road markings were always something I was confused about. Also, I would like a video about intersections.
Thank you too! Agree with you!
I am studying to be a civil engineer with a focus in transportation, so this is my area of expertise. Most of the information is correct, but I would like to add some comments. -In most cases, turning lanes are a lot longer than this, however in urban areas these short turning lanes are acceptable. -I would add a lot more road textures, such as double yellow lines, double yellow lines with hatches, solid-dashed yellow lines, double white lines, and I would space the hatches further apart. -I would change the yellow road markings in intersections to white road markings in intersections as those are more common in North America, of which I am assuming this city is based. -I would also add 3-D models for raised pavement markers (the reflectors that you see in the road at night), and traffic control equipment, such as traffic barrels, traffic cones, and road closed signs. I would also add 3-D models for traffic lights. Hope this feedback is appreciated!
I’ll pass these along to the team and our dev, thanks so much!
This was the video I needed
yeah. So cool. :)
Yes please video on intersections
im assuming this is exactly what drivers ed is
Basically yes
And the students car will be an Alpine a110
Changing the block textures using biomes is genius
The video I’ve been waiting for.... THANK YOU!!!!
This is an example of an amazing youtuber. Love your videos man.
Thank you!!
Thanks I am very sure I will use these in my city as well. Stay safe! :D
Perfect I was struggling with this stuff yesterday lol
Alp, your content is awesome!
1:56. Here in MD, typically on bridges or tunnels (Bay Bridge, Fort McHenry Tunnel, Baltimore Harbor Tunnel) The dashed yellow lines indicate reversible traffic lanes, So lanes can be going in opposing directions or the same direction depending on traffic, road work, accidents, etc. For Example, on the westbound span of the bay bridge, they typically have 3 lanes going westbound, however during the summer they frequently run 2 westbound lanes and 1 eastbound lane on the westbound span
Nice. I've been to a Smoke's Poutine place. Some of the best Poutine I've had. Also very good video about how the road system works.
The most detailed city in minecraft ever exist...Well done!!
Congrats pro builder :D
you guys are the best
Cool tips and tricks! Really nice! :)
I just discovered this channel and I adore it, good job
Thanks so much!
Yes I needed thisss
yees. It's so useful! :))
Your videos are helping me to improve my city, good job!
Super glad to hear that!
the fact i come back to the videos proves its a good tutorial/ guide
bike lanes, I barely use streets :D amazing Details!!!
4:45 The main point of it, is that you have to look if theres a clear path before you go. Sometimes people get stuck in the middle of an intersection due to busy traffic.
Your channel is super underrated keep up the great work!
Thanks so much!
I think for future inspiration for urban bicycle lanes, look at some examples from Monterey, Carmel Valley, Pacific Grove areas in California. They have integrated bicycle lanes in all sorts of creative combinations.
i like how he's presenting it as a real city people live in and i might live in some day.
Love your vids, I can't even say In a comment or even in irl words how much I like your channel
Awh thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoy :)
@@Alpine1 np, I've been needing this type of vid and channel in general, you are my dream channel I've always wanted
Great Video!! Please keep uploading!
I think the same :)
You inspierd me to start making a city
Love the tips
Me too! Nice!
Do you think you can add patches of darker gray/black or maybe gravel or something to add texture and variation to the roads? The roads are so uniform and clean it looks strange to me lol. Keep up the good work!
Cubedpack actually has some road holes block
In the Netherlands are de bike lanes on de Road and a apart lane
Please do an intersection video!
You should do a video on intersections
Informative video, thank you.
Happy to help! :)
In England, we call those striped crosswalks Zebra Crossings. I haven’t seen any of those large yellow boxes in any intersections in Louisiana as yet, but we do have those in England also. Great video. Keep up the good work!
don't forget your former colony here hong kong!
In Bulgaria if it's a Zebra crossing that means that the pedestrian has the right to go before the car and if it's with little squares on the sides of the crosspath it means that the car has the right to go before the pedestrian
As a cyclist, I much prefer being near buses considering that A: bus drivers are better drivers usually, and B: they have a much better view being right at the front
I love your videos 👍 could you do a video of constructing a skyscraper ?
:D Yeah, very nice video...
Absolutely!
Thanks 🤩
yes please would for you to do the intersection
great video
Thank you!
Hi
Hi!
Could you make a video about malls? Malls are a place everyone goes to, it can bring attractions, jobs, and entertainment and I think no one has really touched them in a Minecraft City, or how to make one in general.
How do you make those crossing stoplights?
Can you do a video on intersections? I’m having trouble with them as well as turns that need it’s on lane on a two lane road
As a european guy seeing this and all the rules we all have and just accept being portrayed in a physical medium is kinda weird. Like we don't do yellow lines, all of our lines are white and it's common sense weather or not it's gonna be oncoming traffic on the other side. Or the giant yellow pattern on a crossroad, we just get taught during our driving lesson that we're not allowed (by law btw, not just a do not do this but as in you will get picked up by cops if you do it) to ever park on or near a crossroad (you have to park at least 2 cars length away from a crossroad if parking at the sidewalk and not in a parking space, this never really happens in cities, more a small town thing.) Anyways! Was an interesting watch especially due to that and of course a well made vid as always!
Can u do tutorials like cars buildings extra
I want to lern how to build a marina in minecraft pls😊😊
When a Minecraft video teaches you more about road markings than actual driving school
I would like to know more about intersections, highways, road layouts. In my city I'm having a difficult time finding the best layout for my city. (If you want)
Is there a discord server for cubecommunity? I would like to join!!!
Alpine and I am Vulpine
You should a video on cars
How do I make them slim like that tho
How to fill empty areas please
What are the roads made of
I wish Phoenix would use the bike lanes you're talking about.. maybe then there's be less bicyclists getting hit by cars.
Try and move ur mic cable away from any cables connected to the wall to prevent buzzing hope this helps
I’ll give it a try, thanks!
Hey what shaderpack is that?
How to make good interiors
What about for bedrock??
How do you transition from new roads to old medieval roads? I have an old district in my city which changes its roads, btw this helps alot, just got to try to fit parking spaces in my roads and redo my entire road system, as i have no idea what any of the road markings meant...
Why would you need medieval roads in an American city
@@universenerdd because i based mine off european cities which usually integrates old and ancient roads in conjunction with the modern roads
@@charlestonianbuilder344 well that doesn't make since since this video is based off of American road code...
Is there a download for this city?
You need to get someone to make you a big car mod so the cars look cleaner and drivable
where is the texture pack?
Is there math behind making buildings like how you did it for the video about roads? By the way i have been using the road technique and it's been working nicely
I suggest using trigonometry and geometry for diagonals and curves, especially the Pythagorean Theorem. I think you mean the details, etc. Use online tools, like Google Earth or Google Maps, or go to actual cities to take photos of inspiration depending on your city’s style!
I also believe that height proportions are another topic you are referring to. Taller buildings obviously are closer to downtown, or in special developments. Make sure the base isn’t too thick or too skinny based on the height. The taller a building is, it is pretty much a given that the base will have more complexity, or be larger in scale. It is mostly trial and error. I am sure there are actually proportions you can find, but usually, it is just what looks good! Once again, using Google Earth’s measuring tool to measure buildings will help drastically to help you figure your style’s proportions out! Western European buildings are usually a bit longer, and also a bit wide, Flemish and Dutch buildings are skinny and tall, and not very deep, and American styles like Art Deco, neo-classical, etc. are usually moderately tall, usually taller than the European styles, also in skyscraper proportions, but these are usually wider and longer at the base the taller they are. Victorian-era buildings in the UK are usually longer, and a tad bit wide once again, but usually 3 stories tall, but no taller than 4-5 stories. Modern/60’s-70’s buildings are usually anywhere from 6-60 stories tall, and have either very skinny bases, very long but not very wide bases, or moderately long and wide bases. Usually, 60’s and 70’s buildings fall under category 2, so very long but not wide bases. I would suggest anywhere from 35-65 blocks long for these kinds of bases, and anywhere from 20-35 blocks wide. Usually modern buildings, like the Freedom Tower in NYC, the Merdeka PNB 118 in Kuala Lumpur, and the Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, have category 3 bases, which are moderately long and wide. I would suggest anywhere from 30-45 blocks for these, usually both length and width. And, for category 1’s, like those on Billionaires’ Row in NYC, anywhere from 15-25 blocks wide and long will suit these, or the 15-25 blocks LONG, but 10-20 blocks wide. Hope this helps! :)
@@newcastlets curves for buildings? Like the one's that divert wind?
@@poisedperson6475 yep, also like twisting towers, like the Green Spine (future development) in Melbourne, the Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, or the Twisting Torso in Malmö, Sweden. Also, I just edited my second message above for more helpful exact information.
Ehmmm what if you play on bedrock on xbox and you wanna download the texture pack?
i want road texture pack 1.17.1 please
When I change the biome for road markings it changes more than one specific block. Is there any way I can fix that?
I suggest asking that question in the Cubed Discord. Yes, you can, but it is very hard to explain for me. Ask in the Cubed Community Discord, and I am sure someone will answer your question?
You can use world edit because there is a tool to change the biome (you can select the radius of the biome)(try google it) i hope this helps!
What should you do when a bike or bus lane are at a intersection?
They are treated similar to regular lanes, but they have to stay on the far right side. I’ll be sure to mention this in the intersections video :)
That's minecraft? Or roundcraft? I couldn't ser any type of block-
So, do traffic lines use different rules in different countries or?
Yes, they follow the same basic rules, but the finer details depend on what country you’re driving in
Oh, makes sense.
Music?
The problem is if a city build is to be 1:1 scale with real life, most of the markings cannot be made this way. Since in the examples you showed, the typical road lane is 5-6 blocks wide, whereas it's typically 3-4 meters wide in real life.
yea thats assuming that you build in minecraft scale. Normally builds like these dont use stuff like doors so you dont have a real idea of scale
Idk why but I can’t make the thin road markings...
How do you make the markings so thin
custom resource pack, the markings are just biome-specific variants of white concrete (dont even ask i dont know)
I like the concept and the realism of the city but the road lanes seem way too wide and the city seems very dependente on cars.
Omg hi
Hi!
What shaders do you use?
BSL on high :)
@@Alpine1 Thank you!
one thing that bothers me about all city builders in minecraft is that the scale is off. a block in minecraft is 1m wide. that means a 3m (10-ft) car lane should not exceed three blocks. your lanes are 5m plus a 1m-thick white line. that’s 6m (19-20) ft wide!
Ur minecraft is too realistic! I cant say its minecraft

Isn't this basically civil engineering in MC?
Essentially, yes
Anyone got ps4
Is this minecraft?
Yep! You can join the server at play.cubed.community on Java edition, in 1.14.4 edition! This is the Cubed Textures, which make blocks more realistic for the city aspect. You can download it for your own in the description, and in the Cubed Community Discord. :D
It really does look so much unlike conventional Minecraft though, Alpine and the rest of the team do a great job of making Minecraft feel so real imho!
