Halfway through, I was thinking "What are these parts for? What role do they play in the workings of the mechanism or tool they're intended to compose?" and then I realized that, honestly, Chris could just post a ten-minute-plus video of him cleaning his workshop and I'd watch it with full focus.
I generally have no idea what you're machining, but I greatly enjoy watching you work.
The production quality of these videos is amazing. Centering any part in the lathe is one thing. Centering a part on camera with the lathe, mill collet, and hand vise so the transitions look seamless is next level. Beautifully done.
Beautiful work as usual Chris. Thanks for posting your excellent work
There's something very satisfying about a really tiny but crisp chamfer - a definite angle reflecting light instead of a vague, rounded shoulder. Nice.
Blue dykem on brass is such a good look.
The more permanent version of that look is brass with accents (screws and such) made from blued steel.
My favourite colour is "Dykem Blue on Brass." 😊
Who does the videoing and editing of these? The content showcasing your machining skills is amazing, but just as amazing is the production of your videos. All of it is eye candy for me.
I believe it’s all just Chris. Judging by his talent in machining, videography, CAD, and Excel, I also wouldn’t be surprised if he produced the background music as well.
@@jyunderwood He is a true renaissance man.
Gotta be Chris. He’s the kinda guy that makes his own lightbulbs
You know you're doing something right when adam savage mentions you in reference to high standards of precision in your work.
When/where did he do this?
@@Gameboygenius I NEED TO KNOW
Joe Pie also mentioned him…
@@Gameboygenius In one of his build videos
Need two reference lines at end of shaft; ink entire shaft; ...mmmm.... that smell... ; cut away 90% of inked shaft. Random man at hardware store : "No more Dykem Blue?!" "No sir, Chris bought it all."
Chris you use different levels of polishing. Using i think a burnishing tool. With just the right touch for a perfect outcome. 🎉
Beautiful, as always!
Thanks for the wonderful video!
Mesmerizing!
Ahhh, my favorite ASMR channel...
it's good to see you slurping up all those brass shavings, but I'd really love to see a video on what you DO with your metal waste! the offcuts, especially, at lesat those too small to be used in other projects. but also the filings and shavings....I'm sorta assuming for at least the brass that you use the most, you're remelting? or sending off to do that, since i'm sure making sheet stock and roundstock is difficult to do with factory quality? still a good hearty TGT type video, i would really enjoy. like how do you store it, how much is enough for you to consider...a full load ready to be dealt with?
👍😎
I have no idea what these are for, but they are works of art, nonetheless
Hello, I have two brass tubes that I am using as an armature to hold a model, but I want to be able to assemble them and disassemble them to pack the piece. How would you use to do this?
What collets are you using on the lathe in this video?
Why soak the blue off vs wipe?
when it's dry it doesn't wipe off easily.
@@dennythomas8887 Also, we get a great of the blue pigment slowly disperses in the solvent.
Skills in all areas to rival Frank Howarth 🤨🤭
