Passenger captures the moment flight was told to "brace for impact"
"Brace for impact" is something plane passengers never want to hear. But fliers on one American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Dallas heard just that -- and remained calm until they landed safely. Here's what "bracing for impact" looks like.

Ridiculous if you can't remain calm your a nuisance at minimum and a liability for sure. Gotta figure that out maybe go through some difficult things that you volunteer for.
it’s so weird how shock works. i haven’t been in something as terrifying as an airplane crash, but i did witness someone i love collapse and start to die in front of me. my first reaction was this feeling of confusion and “is this a joke?” but quickly this eerie sense of calm washed over me and i took control. i could feel everything that you normally feel, but it felt so far away, like i couldn’t reach it, or knew that i couldn’t yet. i only started to panic when all my options had run out. by the way, this person survived and made a full recovery, which doctors described as a “miracle.” :)

when I flew out of Panama from being stationed at Ft Clayton back in the 70's, we got over the ocean and an engine blew... it's true what they say that your life flashes before your eyes and you could of heard a pin drop on that plane. That pilot was AMAZING AS F, he banked that plane and we landed safely.
it happened to me when i was 14, flying back from Malta to the UK, along the coast of Italy. We had lost 1 engine on a 2 engine 737. The Pilot announced we would return to Malta, over the Shipping routes , he actually said that. Me at 14 thought it was fun, all the Adults were ordering Treble Whiskeys. to be fair that was the holiday, i went swimming off a speedboat, about 2 miles from shore, only to be told latter that Malta is where the Great's Whites in the mediterranean tend to hang out, also got to see the Popeye movie village :) so interesting time.

It’s situations like these where I understand why people clap after landing every single time.
pilots are underrated
Clapping for a pilot for having you flown safely is like clapping for a bus driver for not having crashed you in the trench on your way home. It's insulting because you question the skill and competence your pilot has. The reason why it is socially accepted it that there are too many passengers doing it and nobody wants to be in the position of being the grumpy pilot rejecting the clapping and embarrassing the airline by that lack of professionalism. Be a better passenger and don't clap and know that the flight crew understands your non-verbal appreciation of their training too.
@@7own878 people don't clap in a bus because the bus, unlike a plane, has to go through multiple stops and few people get off at a time, if people clapped everytime there is a stop it'd be awkward and would slow things down, but at least here in England, people still say a simple "thanks" to the driver when they get off the bus. You aren't questioning a pilot's skills by clapping, you are just showing gratitude for their services, is not that big of a deal.
Absolutely!

why?
To hear laughter and calmness from the passengers shows the strength and resilience of the human spirit
The silence throughout and the laughter afterwards is most likely a reaction to shock
Tell you the truth, those two flight attendants would give me more anxiety than the actual crash.
Me too
Tell me about it, those shrill yells from the flight attendants are the real trauma here. What happened to remaining calm, they don't sound calm
@@partyinyellow they are taught in training to do that. They’re trying to communicate with all of the passengers. That landing could’ve been much worse, and it’s their job to keep the passengers safe. Especially if panic ensues and people become loud or loud bangs from landing, etc. They did everything they trained for months to do.
The worst thing in a stressful situation is when the person telling you to stay calm is clearly not calm. If they train to frantically yell over each other and create more anxiety, I’ll put my headphones on. I guess you just don’t know how people will act in what they believe is their last moments...
Most people go into shock in situations like this, they need guidance and direct commands. They repeat themselves over and over because if they don’t people would potentially stop bracing and look up before the landing is complete-leading to serious injury, more injury than whatever anxiety you would feel in that moment.
The anxiety in the flight attendant’s voice is so much scarier then it would have been

Awesome crew! Great job, everyone! Believe it or not, pilots often go through little crises, but they are so well trained that they simply go through the motions of solving the problem and the passengers don't even know. There is always something else to try. If your pilot does a go around, or is having to circle in a storm, don't freak out. They are used to it. This one had to be terrifying, though.
The nerves of steel of all the passengers is impressive. I'm sure more than one was terrified beyond belief but they soldiered on and adrenaline did its job. I've been through this. My sister and I prayed almost the entire flight to Fiji. It was soooooo turbulent!
They did a good job.. in the face of death no one is that calm.. im a ff and sometimes with the adrenaline dump and fear its hard to find your voice.. but they did their jobs! Kudos
Little nervous laughs of relief is the best sound in the world after an event like this
So true
You know you're truly saved if you're born again. Imagine a pen moving one way. That's us. Sinners prone to sin who have to put pressure on ourselves to go the other way and do what God wants. But we bounce right back when the pressure we apply is less. But, when born again, the pen goes the other way and the default is good. Having to put pressure on ourselves to go the other way again. "I'm not gonna forgive. Im not gonna help that person". Only to bounce right back because of the holy spirit's guidance. That is truly being born again. You'll know you belong to God.

@@julietorres7298 One study from 2005 helped explain the way bees get themselves off the ground. The scientists compared bees to fruit flies, and found that a fruit fly has one eightieth the body size and flaps its wings at a rate of 200 times per second. In comparison, honeybees flap 230 times per second. This was surprising because smaller insects generally have to flap their wings faster to compensate for decreased aerodynamic performance. To further complicate things, bees are also often carrying pollen and nectar, which sometimes weighs as much as their entire bodies. So anyways yeah thats why God belongs to bees.
@@resetti2040 I don't understand what you're getting at. I thinking your trying to joke about this when eternity is absolutely no joke and I hope you come to understand that before its too late. Ill pray for you
officer: “no need for alarm” flight attendants: *REMAIN SEATED REMAIN SEATED REMAIN SEATED*
I thought he kept yelling "Brace!". actually nevermind.
Lmao
They’re trained to say that no matter is anyone is up or not. If they are not like that they could get fired
Lol
That's part of the job description; Flight attendant on normal times, human alarm on emergency events.
Imagine if they shouted out "APRIL FOOLS EVERYONE"
Credit to the passengers for how calm they remained.
