Glad to see I'm not the only one to go far enough down the rabbit hole to find that Sherman minutia site! Its really incredible how much rivet hunting those guys have done. Too bad you weren't allowed to see the roof, I should expect there to be a loader's hatch from one of those field kits, iirc that was another part of the post war upgrade program.
I doubt the hatch is there, judging from the other early features this one has
