Today's video was supposed to be a metal detecting adventure, but I just couldn't ignore the water level. Probably the best flow recorded to date on this episode. I hit the three main culverts on the large field drainage ditch. It's a long one today with me breaking the silence from the last two uploads. If you enjoy this type of content, please consider subscribing and following along. Thanks for watching!

Under equipped and not much experience, just trying to figure out how to get rid of all that water! Thanks again for watching and supporting my channel, be sure to subscribe and follow along.

    • All this complaining about the 20-minute mark I had to go back and look for myself! I wish the camera gave a better perspective of the conditions. There is a step slope coming down to the pipe, see how high the camera is. Not so easy to just lay out flat here and reach down there. The branch was about 5-6 feet long extending into the pipe with many little branches catching the grate like barbs when trying to pull it out and the current of the water made it even harder. I will try to do better next though, last thing I want to do is cause stress to frustrated viewers! Thanks for watching!

    • Absolutely great question. In this case, it goes down this large ditch to a bayou. If you're not familiar with bayous they are very good at handling massive and quick changes in water volume if they are not obstructed. The bayou carries the water to the Arkansas River where its just a drop in the bucket.

  • I think cleaning in front of the grates is most important. You don't want the beaver to get inside it as they will then focus on clogging the culvert/ pipe. That's way more difficult to unclog.

  • Maybe less fancy clothes next time- so you can really get at it? 😊😉 Is there a lot of debris inside the pipe? Should the grid be tight to the culvert to stop the beavers from building inside it? Seemed like the flow on the other side could have been bigger? I watched the whole video- thank you for posting!🤗

    • Thanks for watching! The attire was just to stay warm. Nothing fancy for sure, really old jeans, old hoodie. The coat I was wearing was a Christmas gift from someone that wanted to keep me warm on cold farm days. I will definitely drop layers weather permitting. There is a lot of stuff stuck in the middle of the pipe. The beavers do sometimes go through it and build inside. Sometimes it's just an accumulation of debris that gets through and lodges in there. I have a plan that I think will work to clear the inside of the pipe, but I have to get the water level down before I can get to it.

  • Good work! I notice you just clear out 50-60% of the blockage. Is that to leave some water in the ditch/pond or is it because you know it will be blocked again in a week or two and then you make another video from the same spot. It seems if it were my property, I would do a more complete job. Also, you are like the only guy posting these sort of videos that uses a tiny tulip rake, and that is afraid to get in the water. Check out the Oh My ladies - they kick your butt.

    • Thanks, this comment made my morning. Pretty sure it's the first one where I have been complimented, criticized, and insulted all in one comment 😃. I know some of the details of what is going on isn't 100% covered in every video, it would just be a bit repetitive, especially for those that watch every one. During certain times of the year, partial unblocks are intentional for waterfowl habitat. I wish it took a week or two before it became blocked again. Not sure about the potato rake, I don't watch much content from others that do this but when I have it seems the potato rake is the tool of choice. If I didn't live in the south I would be much more care free in the water. I'm not sure who the oh my ladies are but I am totally okay that they are kicking my butt! Thanks for watching!

    @gingerkeith@gingerkeith7 ай бұрын
    • One thing the camera may not show well is this pipe is at the bottom of an embankment with just the very end of the pipe exposed. There is about 8ft of dirt covering the pipe. The biggest challenges are making sure none of the debris goes downstream for someone one else to deal with, the weight of mud and waterlogged debris, and the intelligence of the beaver.

    • Keeping the dirt built up on the sides works the best. It also creates a smaller channel for the beaver to use and aids in placing traps.

  • If you don't remove the beavers, they will just rebuild it. Where I am from breaking beaver dams is illegal so be careful.

    • Yep, the earlier in the day that we can break them, the more water we get rid of before they come back that night. In my state, they actually pay you a bounty if you turn in beaver carcasses.

    • hello! i did just recently break the 1k mark a couple weeks back. i never realized there was so much animosity to people doing this type of content unless you were post10. post10 seems like the kind of guy that would be supportive and helpful to anyone learning his trade but a number of his follower army is not for sure. thanks for watching!

    • @@BarrettFarms Animosity?? What?!? Why?!! Jiminy kraut. Just ignore those boneheads, yeesh, they need to do something creative and helpful. Ja, I agree, post10 would be perfectly happy to see you doing your thing, been enjoying his vids for a coupla years now. And I betcha now that the KZhead algorithms are taking you a little more seriously, you'll prolly see some sped up growth!
