Taking advantage of a mild but windy October afternoon, the musicians of the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band got together to record a Hanukkah concert for the residents of the senior citizen facilities that would not be able to invite them to play in person this year due to the pandemic.
This folk song, Tumbalalaika, is a familiar Yiddish sing-along about a young man who chooses his bride because she is clever enough to answer his riddles about love.
This piece is featured on the band's CD, "You Should Be So Lucky" (Shanachie Entertainment, 1996).
