Thanks man!
Masterpiece. I love everything about the knife. The bone could not have turned out better. As always, Thank you for sharing. You've got my vote.
Heck yeah! Thank you Jeff!
When I think of painted angry Vikings, this is the weapon I imagine them carrying! Great build, Erick!
Heck yeah! Thanks Dennis!
Yep, that's a helluva big knife. Love the look of it
Thank you Kris!

Heck yeah! Thank you!
Amazing art❤
Thank you!
Best I've seen so far!
Heck yeah! Thank you!
It was great to see you work on portions of this on the livestreams, but then get to see the overall build. Awesome, heavy-duty, hand forging job with this one. Thanks, Erick.
Thank you Bryon!
Good Morning 😁
Good morning!
Insane! 100% nailed the balance between beauty and functionality.
Thank you!
That blade came out looking beautiful!!Nice build overall, and loved the bone handle, by the way!!I'm Norwegian, by the way!!And i love to see the old history of my people being held alive by artists like you!!
Thank you! That means a lot!
100% would go into battle with that.
I collect Seaxes by many makers, and that is one of the nicest I have ever seen, great artist.
Heck yeah, that means a lot! Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks Mom!
The seax came out sick. Love the handle choice.
Thank you!
Very nice build
Thank you!
That’s killer work bro! Definitely ready for battle!
Thank you!

That looks awesome!!! Great job
Thank you!
Nice work mate
Thanks Sam!
You certainly Did!!! That is freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Beautiful work. Geometry, design very authentic. Best regards
Thank you!
Buddy, damn good job 👏 as always
Thanks!
really liking this build, very realistic build for the period being mono steel and a natural materials handle, looks great and very useable unlike all the fancy pattern welded stuff, particularly the mosaic stuff, good for you keeping it real
Heck yeah, thank you Andy!
@@theriversexperience9383 you got my vote, good luck
You must win this cause thats coolest one and dies in every film should be second
Heck yeah! That's what I'm talking about.
Lovely job on the seax. I was wondering if anyone is doing seax that are not broken back seax. The broken back is, I've been told, from the late medieval period and used by the Anglo Saxons the Germans and the southern parts of Sweden. The "Viking" style seax knife had a slightly different shape.
Mine was focused more towards the Anglo Saxon age. I also used the same age of runes on the blade.
@@theriversexperience9383 beautiful job
That’s a beast! Cool handle.
Thanks! That Warhammer that can cut paper towel tubes was nuts 😁. I loved the edit at the end lol.
That's wicked.
Thank you!
Love it bro!…The profile is prefect.
Heck yeah! Thanks Jason!
Awesome knife I love the aged look of the handle it's beautiful
Thank you!
@@theriversexperience9383 your welcome
Excellent work, definitely bad to the bone! Sorry, couldn't resist the pun. 😂
Thank you 😆
Very nice....
Thank you!
Very nice. I think you nailed it
Thank you!
great work, I like it very much 👌👌👌
The only blade I've seen that closely resembles what a viking might might have carried and used. Pattern welded mosaic steel isn't even close to true form. I like the natural look of the bone handle and simplistic approach that you created. Great craftsmanship!
Thank you!
Favorite one so far, love the handle. Not a big fan of the fish looking symbols but otherwise amazing.
Thank you!
what a stylish and brutal thing it turned out to be. Fire! to be honest, it confuses me when Viking weapons are made of mosaic Damascus. It's like a lace armor looks.. It seems to me that either a historical twisted Damascus or something similar to yours is suitable.:)
Thank you! I tried to keep it real with this build.
@@theriversexperience9383 Yes. it is always noticeable if a person studies historical materials before starting work. watching allows you to do a similar thing, but in your own way. this is called "stylish". :)
Good job. Although not historically true. After all, sax or long sax were knives made from sword fragments. In particular, the long sax was not made by locksmithing and sawing off half of the blade, but on the contrary - by forging and stretching one edge. Because high-quality steel, such as on swords, was very expensive and rare. And that's why they couldn't afford to simply waste half of the blade. However, you have a good job.
Ok, I want one.
You could always buy this one 😁

Great job Eric. I really like all the thought that you put into everything. The bone handle is cool. The etching on the blade just amazing. Great job! What did you use for your barrier on your etch, the white looking paper?
Thank you! I used white paint.
@theriversexperience9383 I like it, but I have to say even though the little rant at the end about just cutting a 45 and calling it a Seax is true, you also inadvertently called out every other Seax maker in this challenge 😂🤣. They’ve almost all done a straight edge with a 45, even though all the patterns are stunning.
Yeah, I tried to be as gentle as possible there 😅. I really wanted to make something that was awesome and had some of the "true to historic" flare. I'm happy with how it turned out 😁.
Super nice
Thank you!
OK so he used his fence post driver as a quench tank😂
Yup, that's how we do it in the south lol.
This is an inspiring piece! What kind of critter bone is that? I like the color and need to find some.
Thank you! It's Zebra Bone.
Just got into forging, do you have any tips or advice for forging bevels?
Go check out my live streams. I go over forging bevels in detail during most of them.
Good day sir. Very nice build. What paint did you use as a mask on the blade?
Thank you! I just used some white spray paint. You want to only put a couple of coats on it. If it gets too thick, it's a pain to get a clean scribe line.
If you want to see more detail on how the initial shape of the blade came to be, check the video of the LIVE stream where I started this build. kzhead.infolhc-ZHRrL1M
dude tell me about that bone handle please. Is it stabilized? it looks cool as heck!
Yup, it's stabilized Zebra Bone.
Sweat guillotine tool. Did you make that or purchase? And of course, beauty blade. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I got the guillotine from Yesteryear Forge on Etsy.
Beautiful! What bone did you use?
Thank you! It's Zebra Bone.
Clean! What kind of bone?
Zebra Bone
👏👏👏👏🤜🤛
Thank you!
What weight Hammers do you use?
Typically between 3lb - 5lb when forging and a 1.5lb for planishing.
@@theriversexperience9383 thank you.
Amazing build , name the wood ?
Handle is made of Zebra Bone
@@theriversexperience9383 thank you
Where do you get leafspring?
This one was off of an old Ford F250.
Bro, this is regular sax. Langsax looks like sword but only one side of blade is sharp.
It really just depends on the Era that you are looking at. This is closer to the Anglo Saxon Era. There are different generations of the Seax.
@@theriversexperience9383 Ok. I told about Vikings langsax. If this is Anglo -Saxon its good. Your job is amazing. Bloody well done.
Love the bone handle!! Nice job!!!
Thank you!
