THANK YOU SO MUCH
Just a quick correction. You can change the colors and the speed of the effects by holding down FN+arrows. By the way, some gamers prefer membrane keyboards because they are quieter, smoother and spill resistant. I had a Ducky One 2 with Cherry MX Speed switches and I loved it. One small spill accident and the board got fried. Never going back to mechanical. I have this keyboard now and I love it. Top quality build, very nice to type and game on. The keycaps have a matte, grippy finish. The lighting is bright and powerful, not like the cheap kind of RGB you find in other keyboards. 10/10 would buy again.
Thanks for that correction, watching this was my main issue. I don't want software, and just need static red or blue. Got the Corsair K-55 currently, but replacing it after paint has gotten greasy from something i used to clean it with. This seems like the best option so far. Ruling out Cynosa, Ornata and Apex 3 for either noisy mechamembrane switches or cheap build quality and software dependency. K-55 works without software, much better not having the iCue malware installed. And this guy spent waaaaaay too long highhorsing, about mech switches. One is not superior to the other, it's completely a matter of comfort. Mechanical is too noisy, switches feel wrong to press and hold down, and it's so not worth it. Rather have a soft feel, which is why my expensive mechanical keyboard is collecting dust only used as a temp replacement. Don't like light shining in my face from devices. And for the keyboard i just need the letters to be lit really.
Had it for a few weeks now, it's great. A basic keyboard that works well, right out of the box.
@Flan No less than needed i assume. I game holding down like W A Shift often, adding in a fourth or even fifth. It's just softer, not noisy and no tactile feedback but instead just a soft push down with little force needed to hold it. God i love not having software with this keyboard.
Is there any software like Logitech G213?
I got mine for $30, even better!
Correction...................................... You can change the speed and direction by pressing fn key and up arrow and down.. left and right .... Have a good day

Speed and direction of what?

I've never been a fan of loud keys. I've used this keyboard for almost a year now so I know what I'm talking about. This keyboard is for those that want a quieter keyboard at home. A great quality membrane keyboard. The media controls are God tier and the gaming mode is nice to avoid pressing the windows key by accident.
just out of interest is it actually made out of metal or plastic no mention of materials in this review
@@MossyStoneUK all plastic, but it is really good compared to any other plastic keyboard
Is it loud
Loud keys are music to my ears lol
When the whole 'loud mechanical' keys craze began, I was dumbfounded. Having used computers since the mid-1980s as a kid, I always felt that a "completely silent" keyboard was the ultimate goal. I still find the fetish for loud typing utterly bizarre.
Just a notice out there if you have this keyboard, you can change the speed of the rgb or the fluorescent lighting speed by holding “FN” + (arrow key up for faster and down for slower). You can also change the lights for the constant light option or the breathing one by (pressing “FN” + “Arrow key left or right”). Np if you found this helpful, and those who knew, gg
Thanks. Just bought this and was hoping I could adjust it
Can you choose a colour and keep it static I always go for light blue
I used a mechanical keyboard for 9 months and saw my gaming performance drop quite significantly, it was the top rated & ridiculously expensive Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 and actually made me enjoy gaming less, as soon as I switched back I was miles better. Ignore the top comments here if you're already pretty good at gaming don't bother switching due to peer pressure, you might find out its not as good as you think. -by all means try it out first if possible
I know this comment is old, but, I was speechless to see how smooth a $10 Monoprice membrane office style keyboard was and how good it feels to type on compared to my 8 year old 2014 Razer Blackwidow Ultimate stealth with orange switches that are a close to browns from reading. The razer started randomly doubling letters without much use in the grand scheme of things since I mostly use controller on pc, was maybe ~$150 years ago and another ~$10 for o-ring dampeners. Using them side by side, the mechanical razer keyboard feels clunky, slow, and spongy compared to this cheap membrane, I can only imagine how much nicer a little bit higher end membrane would feel and act in comparison. The mechanical feels like it even takes a bit more force to actuate than the membrane. I'm seriously considering this HyperX Alloy Core keyboard as it's on sale right now, is LED which my cheap Monoprice isn't, and is a well regarded brand. I tried out a gently used 2013 Razer blackwidow ultimate with cherry mx blues and it felt horrible, I hated how it felt and how loud it was. This membrane feels really smooth and thoughtful even feeling when typing
@@SolidSnake4Ever2003 I used this keyboard for a while and really liked it but I accidently broke the space bar with some gamer rage and recently switched to the CORSAIR K55 RGB PRO XT (another membrane) its pretty much the same but the keys are spaced a little further apart which turned out to be better for me with fat fingering but did feel weird at first. also has 6 macro keys and a software that allows deep RGB + keyboard control customisation if you don't need any of those things then I definitely recommend this keyboard otherwise you can probably pick up the other one I listed quite cheap on black friday. hope this helps
I went to a store and tested all the different keyboards how it felt typing, and this felt the best, so i bought it, i am not impressed by mechanical keyboards
I 100% agree. I've built custom mechanical and Topre keyboards, and going to the store and using these just felt good to my fingers.
What about the sound?
Same. This one also was the quietest one, aside from some low profile keyboards.
I Love the new camera angles!!!
Just got it 2 weeks ago and i love the design it looks expensive so it fits high end builds too. Been using 17$ a4tech g700 keyboard since 2008 and that one still works well after a decade of gaming...
A very well done review about budget keyboards, thank you, please keep doing this ones!
I'm an aspiring writer and use the computer a lot (not a gamer), but saw this keyboard online. I wanted something that was quiet and wired and it looked like gaming keyboards were the only thing available. I bought this one after watching your video yesterday. I have used it today and am so pleased with the volume of my typing now. This video and the sound and your advice was important in making my decision. Thank you!!!
Love HyperX! I have the alloy elite RGB, alongside with the pulsefire surge and cloud 2, excellent peripherals. Quality is outstanding
just out of interest is it actually made out of metal or plastic no mention of materials in this review
@@MossyStoneUK Its a combination of metal and plastic. The top plate where the keys are placed is entirely metal, while the wrist rest and the bottom part are plastic. But it is a high quality plastic, feels rigid and with nice texture.

Also in solid color FN and left/right arrow changes the color, also in the pulsating ("breathing") mode you can change the duration/speed by pressing FN and up/down arrows.
just out of interest is it actually made out of metal or plastic no mention of materials in this review
@@MossyStoneUK Entirely made of plastic, also notice the rubber pads are super solid and the keyboard sits super firmly on the desk, unlike Razer Cynosa V2 that I returned - you could push it across the table with a finger. HyperX is also quieter than Cynosa V2 while having a hard, tactile feedback.

I just picked up an Alloy Elite with Cherry MX Brown switches (and only comes with red backlighting) for $70. It's quite nice especially considering the price and is cheaper than the Cooler Master CK550 with Cherry clones from Gateron (it's more tactile but the sound of the keys aren't as nice IMO). With that said, HyperX is best to up their quality control as the first Alloy Elite I picked up had some MX brown keys missing the tactile bump (still brown stem) which made them feel more like reds.
I don't like how the industry tends to say "starter"... I'm decades into PC gaming and I still use these keyboards. $200 keyboard that, yes, does type nice but is loud and has excessive RGB and other controls like side G-keys that distract from where I'm at on the keyboard? No thanks, I'll take this now $35 keyboard that works just fine.
Yes. I have this one plus one very expensive and all i can say is there is no need to overspend on keyboards. Better get a nice mouse and headset with extra money. Keyboard is the last thing that will help u in game.

depresso expresso I didn’t even see that
I've got a mechanical keyboard and I don't think its that important to be honest, I type better on the rubber dome however I just prefer the feel of mechanical but its not that important in my opinion, a keyboard is a keyboard. Mouse, monitor, headset, mouse bungee. These all improve gaming performance but I think any keyboard would do the trick really.
Don't forget the anti-ghosting feature. If any keyboard lacks that it can screw you up in some video game titles. Everything else about these mechanical keyboards seem to be down to preference, not so much how capable/functional it is.
Don't be so easy, it's super overpriced for the keyboard that use rubber dome with some leds with *gaming* brand reach 50$ ~ which nearly the price of some good real mechanical keyboard. Don't let them fool you, making membrane keyboard is very cheap and simple, you can even get a good one with about ~10>20$.

Just got my Havit RGB Mechanical Blue Switch Keyboard and RGB Mouse Combo from Amazon, and must say, going from rubber dome membrane style keyboards, to this truly mechanical keyboard has been wonderful! Mechanical is the only way for me now. I will eventually upgrade this keyboard, but for one that was a "test" to see if mechanical was for me, it sure knocked it out of the ball park! And for $45 for the keyboard and mouse combo, it's hard to beat. Full RGB, with FX, and on-keyboard customization (no software needed), and an accurate, smooth and very cool mouse, I must say, I could have done a LOT worse for more money!
