In a difficulty 7 (or maybe 8, I don't remember) mission, we were taking too long to finish the main objective, which was an "acquire soil data" mission with the crazy bot drops. My buddies aren't great at the game, so we were losing a lot of lives, and the mission timer was running short. So we sent one of us towards extraction with the samples, while the other two tried to finish the final objective. About 10 seconds after we called down the final objective, the super destroyers left orbit, so I had to get through the entire final objective with just my arc thrower, my energy shield, and a dream. The other person I was with survived the first wave, but died to the second. We didn't have time to kite the bots all over the place, so I just got behind cover, poked out, zapped, rinse and repeat. Killed an annihilator tank, two hulks, and a pack of berzerkers by just poking out, zapping, and poking back in. Takes a lot of shots to kill a tank like that without hitting its weak spot, but I had no other choice really.

Messed around with the arc thrower last night and noticed you can stun most heavy units with it. I was able to keep a group of rocket devastators from firing they just moved slowly towards me as they started smoking. I still prefer running EAT/Grenade Lanucher or EAT/AM Rifle. I tend to push too fast and the arc needs me to slow down and use cover to work effectively.
A lot of people sleep on the thrower, I used to use it up until the quaser cannon released. It was all I needed, the only reason I switched was because I couldn't destroy structures with the arc thrower like I can with a launcher
If you shut off your flashlight the smoke won’t be as blinding
I always use the arc thrower it's S tier. When I play with mates at least 2 of us use it. I wanna go into a team with 4 of them I reckon it will be bot carnage.

I just got this game, and I have time for only one or two missions per night. I can't wait until i have these toys; right now, the appearance of just one Devastator or Berserker at extraction ruins my day with its heavier armor. (If a guy by the name of LuckyDei reads this, THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME.) What a fun game.
Yeah Anti Material Rifle works really well against them too and you just need the 4k Requisition slips for it since it has no level requirement

@@CharlesUrban take your time, and don't worry about harder content. You really don't need to go to higher content until you need super samples for some upgrades, and even then, you don't have to go past difficulty 7. Focus on whatever's fun to you, and you'll get all the same toys as someone playing the hardest difficulties 👍
I found that aiming a bit higher than normal helps with the ghost shots. Sometimes the arcs like to bend towards the ground before curving up and aiming a little high sometimes stops them from hitting the ground.

As an arc thrower main against the bots, this makes me happy. The only issue I've ever run into is just dealing with gunships. Its great to get them grouped up in a choke point and just go to town. The stagger is beautiful.
Yeah it's great to have a teammate with laser cannon you can combo with.

my biggest gripe with the arc thrower is that it when you kill large hordes and large enemies, the bodies pile up and the arc thrower can barely shoot around them. at least let it arc to one enemy through a body. and forget about bile titan, spewer and charger corpses once they pile up, you need to change position or always manage to keep the high ground like obi wan
That’s a part of what makes the skill ceiling kinda high with things like the arc thrower. Keeps things interesting when you can actually apply skills/knowledge that you’ve gained by playing the game a significant amount. That’s why guns shouldn’t be just a simple pull the trigger and everything dies. Makes the game more fun
@The-Caged-King Agreed. The game would get boring without weaknesses like this. While it can be frustrating at times, I'd prefer to be forced to run around and search for better positions, as opposed to being able to stand in place and kill everything in my field of view. Also, if I'm in a position where the Arc Thrower isn't functioning as well as I'd like, that's what my primary, secondary, and other strategems are for. You shouldn't be able to exclusively use your support weapon to cover every situation.
@@Legendary_Honey game bugs are not fun or challenging in the right ways. Even the devs addressed the arc thrower inconsistency and it's meant to be fixed. Also Even in Perfect conditions for the arc thrower, high ground and clear land, it sometimes just doesn't shoot or goes right through hunters doing no damage. It's also why I stopped using the sickle because the devs have addressed, but still never fixed some laser weapons not being able to shoot through weak bushes and large plants.

Coop vs Solo against bugs feels similar because you can kite increasing numbers of melee enemies Coop vs Solo against bots feels very different because while in solo you usually fight one group of devs from a single direction, in coop you find yourself fighting multiple devs from multiple directions (often at extreme distance) or devs + a melee hulk/zerkers/jetpacks/tanks/gunships rushing you. Those are the situations where the ARC does not shine so well. So while Takibo does do a great job demonstrating peakaboo with the ARC here, I would caution the same expectations in coop.
Coop has a lot of people getting in your LoS, i can avoid FF most of the time but there are time that you just press the button to shoot and someone suddenly runs in front of you and they are dead, most of the time they don't make a fuss after you apologize, but there are some assholes that takes as if you did it on purpose, even if it was him running like a headless chicken in front of you.
This planet with muscle enhancement is an absolute dream. Also i know you talked a lot about disliking the Guard dog rover with the laser, but id recommended trying out the default guard dog with the normal bullets on bots. Combined with an AMR its my favorite bot loadout since the drone shoots for headshots and full restores on supplies now.
How can it be that your dropships only bring in a couple lads, while mine, on suicide difficulty bring in a factory strider, 2 tanks and a handful of hulks?

Yeah when I try this I always get rushed and multiple dropships called on me. Sometimes diff 9 feels like 6 and Vice versa…
I saw a glitch last night on this world he’s playing and in the distance there were 10-15 drops in the same location. We ran 😂
the amount they drop is based on a few things like main objectives done? optional objectives done and side objectives done so cause he didnt do any of the bases the game wasnt beefing up the drops and it was only when he had done the main objective is when the drops started to ramp up
There is a random number generated on the beginning of the game which decides how the enemy reinforcements will spawn. It is possible for the heavy units to get larger spawn rate. Thus gun fires may attract patrol teams or enemies nearby and a hulk is often included in a set of patrols.

Bro, for real...what cheat are you using? Like 1 tank and no Walkers? Every time I play I have so many tanks I can't even see the damn ground, and walkers literally just hang out at primary and secondary objectives.
The extra smoke is just cause you have the flashlight turned on, which makes the smoke more visible.

I did exactly that in the newest defense mission ( the "tower defense" / launch rockets one ). It worked splendidly. I'll call it the "Arc Thrower Dance". If/when they finally fix it, it's gonna be real good.
I freaking love this thing. Makes Automatons so much fun. Like you said, just have to find some cover, but sometimes you can face tank them since the stagger keeps them at bay. I love taking down Hulks, they are my favorite.

I love the arc thrower as much as the next guy but it feels terrible to have a great angle or a clean shot on something but because there’s a bush or some invisible terrain in the way none of the shots hit.

I actually love the Arc Thrower and it's amazing to see you use it on bots too! It does create some issues with a group tho. I had a friend shoot the enemy I was aiming for then zapped him by accident way too many times lol 😂 Friendly execution retribution via Hellpod inbound in those situations 🤣 Love the video as always, you're amazing!
When I play difficulty level 6 with my friends, we are fighting the bots non stop, reinforcements keep dropping on us and we struggle to get the mission done. How are you doing a helldive difficulty mission with so little bots ? It seems like they never call any reinforcements.
Gotta keep moving. If you get swarmed, move to another objective and then come back later.

I don't know how the hell does this works for you, but most of the time I'm doing this arc just refuse to target enemies. I tried to play with it against automotons many times, but at the end find it too inconsistent when firing it near some cover, which is like at the core of fighting those goddamn robots. Still my go-to support weapon against bugs.
i forgot to mention it in the video but going in first person as someone had recommended on my last arc thrower video did help quite a bit, at least it felt like it did
if you ping a camp on the map with an armor suit, you will have a square (objective ping) if it's an objective camp (stratagem, Sauron eye or mortar). Just for your information. Quite usefull

Arc Thrower shines in the LVL9 games, where your teammates are good at avoiding all kinds of friendly fires.
The arc throw is amazing. I dont think people realize how good it is. You can stun lock enemies, getting you out of stick situations great for crowd control, and can take out hulks pretty easily. Before the recent patch, you could just stun lock hulks. I use it all the time on higher difficulties. Only thing it's not good for is anything that flys.
The first time I used the arc thrower was when I picked it up from a poi on a bot mission, and I immediately two shot a hulk. I thought to myself something along the lines of “wow, this weapon is OP” and then proceeded to lose a 1v1 to a regular devastator who ignored 5 hits from the damned thing. I’ll probably try it again tonight if the personal order doesn’t demand a different weapon, try aiming differently, but it was just way too unreliable for me in that round. It won the from best to worst first impression speedrun handily.

They reduced the effective distance of arc thrower down to 35m. That's why all those shots into the distance is not counting
Half expected to see myself as the catalyst for this video. The other thing to do is to yeet yourself for the first shot into a dangerous encounter because of it decides not to shoot, you aren't standing there like an idiot getting stunlocked and ragdolled. Also pairs well with EAT in case you have to deal with the flyers, as Arc thrower has no answer to them.

honestly the ghost shots balances the thrower well since you have inf ammo as it could stun heavys and devastators
this made me try the Arc Thrower against bot, and honestly was a lot of fun... until the gunship factories

What’s the stratagem jammer glitch?
The reason you couldn't see, when shooting your dominator, is cause you had the flashlight on.
I'll have to give that a try -- I'd been avoiding even buying the Arc Thrower after seeing how many fellow divers it could jump to. (That, and it's terrible in the open without cover. Too slow, too short range. Was definitely using it wrong.)

This build is pretty good, but fir gunships and Factory Striders you can't do much against them.
the arc literally shits on hulks its soo good. you can stunlock groups of them. the only weaknesses are tanks and gunships.

Yes... YEEEES come to the arc side of the universe! YEEEES! =) I once was so invested into the peek-a-boo game I didnt hear the Hulk that was sneaking up to me until I heard "PEEKABOO MOTHER F " yeah, that was the only lesson I needed to always check my surroundings. Stay crunchy.

3:45 I've watched several times and I can't figure out what glitch you're talking about.
Sometimes, after you take out the Stratagem Jammer tower, the "scrambled signal" sound effect still plays for basically the rest of the mission. Basically he showed the way as to how to fix that.

i tried it few times, the damage was nice even killed hulks but damned if you get cough in a rag doll or out of cover r.i.p also Gun ships = rip
turn off the flashlight on your dominator during daytime missions, so the smoke won't glare on it
I LOVE the Arc Thrower but i hate that im forced to take an EAT or another anti gunship weapon when I solo automatons. Not fun
You're not forced. Take the new explosive sniper primary and aim for the engines. My favorite load out for automatons!
@adrenalinekick thats true! But sometimes i do like clicking heads with the good ol' diligence and stunlocking hulks with the arc. Just not a good load out for solo i guess. Might be skill issue on my part

Shhh, don't get it nerfed! Meta noises meta noises, fizzle shots and friendly fire, cult of the autocannon noises, it sucks, please don't ner-I mean it needs a buff.
People not knowing to take cover between shots has me wondering if that's why many people find bots harder than bugs.

How about Eruptor? Can it deal with the gunships?
If you need a balanced build, eruptor can one shot a gunship. Not ideal but it gives you something for everything. Alternatively, you could sacrifice the shield pack for EAT
Sacrificing the shield for an EAT sounds really good actually. Tried the eruptor and it’s damn hard to hit the gunships when they move around.
@@dextreme8467 yeah it’s very hard to hit. But I’ve recently left my comfort zone and started running bot missions with no shield and it actually works out okay, you just have to be more aware of your positioning. The eruptor can function as a sort of last resort for gunships, but I’ve been dropping my eat while my friends charge the hangars and popping the gunships while they call the hellbomb. If you’re really on the ball with your timing you can do it. Again it’s just not ideal, it just works

Unless a Hulk is stunned I dunno if it's worth aiming for the eye with the AC - just shoot its legs off.
A team mate with Arc thrower + (any) Dog back pack + 380mm + Mortar stragems is a no go.

Enemy roster is dependant on the planet. Different planets have different patrols, enemies at objectives and outposts. For example there are no green bugs on Crimsica. Also you can see Bile titans on difficulty 6 on some planet, but not others.

I think the Jar 15 can take down gunships, but obviously this build is not ideal. Taking EATs would mostly solve the issue unless you come across the 2 tower one.

Scorcher can also take out gunships. I believe you just shoot in the red glowing area, but it's been a bit since I last gave it a try.

I find the JAR is always too smokey. Makes it so hard to hit things in first person. I duno how folks hit with it so consistently.
Turn of the flashlight and pace your shots. Slow and steady wins the race
@@dextreme8467 I am honestly not sure the flashlight is the issue, but I do agree it is generally always off. I can double check next time I try it in first person.

All these creators soloing helldive difficulty give me hope....I still suck...but I have hope.
everytime i see another video like this i die a little inside for the railgun...wasn't it originally nerfed to death because it was too much of an "all-purpose" weapon? now look at this....the arc thrower AND the flamethrower are better at dealing with high-armor targets than the weapon that is specifically designed against high-armor targets plus they have crowd-control capabilities plus they have no downside like exploding in your face ... i just hope they give some love back to the railgun in the future :/
The devs put a crazy amount of unnecessary realism that most other games would never consider. May not be necessary for gameplay, but it makes everything so much more immersive, and not just talking about the smoke from the muzzle

the massive issue with the arc thrower is that it just randomly decides oh no that rocks hitbox is too big i'm gonna do nothing enjoy your wasted charge. Rocks and bushes make it utterly useless
