The physics of holding that extended bridge from only one side is unbelievable.
Meh aluminium bridge and really really heavy armored tank with a really big 830 bhp engine in the back. In total it weights 43 tons since it still has the full battletank version's armor on it. And since this is an old leopard 1 tank it's good old laminated steel What's really impressive is that this vehicle lays a 22 meter bridge in 3 minutes, can do so without personeel having to come from cover and if it does have a problem with the engine for example it can swap it out within 2 hours. That's crazy. It can also fit ground moving blades and does a cool 62 kmh on the road.
I've driven over a few of these in an M113... in the dark. There's no lats allowed once on the bridge. I cannot remember it's length, but if it has solid edgings it only needs 50cm each end. 22 Meters comes to mind but it's been a few years.
OMG the weight it can hold when extended is amazing ! so cool bridge i like this more that the american style bridge tank
It's because with the American style you advertise your location to everyone. And since the point of these things is to come at the enemy from an angle they did not expect that's a problem. I mean otherwise you might as well use main roads. This takes 3 minutes, is way more sneaky and it can just pick that bridge up from the other side and keep with the rest of the vehicles. Something not all American ones can do.
Dutch Army develops with German counter partners military equipment. The bridge classification is much to low for modern track powered armory. So the dutch are developing a new improved up-to-date system. And this is a training situation.
Very helpful and reliable for your armor support
Thats pretty amazing to watch!
especially when you have time-lots of time!
I remember staring at a picture of this thing in a book wondering how the heck these panels were supposed to unfold when I was a kid. That was in the 90s before the age of Internet.
It’s amazingly engineering
The leopard Chassis with folding bridge is called Biber. In english: beaver
This is unbelievable 👏👏
Cool, didn't know that the dutch army uses german military equipment. Also I never thought to see a Bieber and an AH-64 Apache in the same video. Nicely filmed by the way, i like the perspective.
Soldier im dutch and we indeed use german SPG, Leopard 2's, and troop transport, we use also Apache and use F16
+Soldier The Canadian Forces uses alot of old German gear, as well. We currently use both the Leopard (both versions,) and the Mercedes G-Wagen (worst possible excuse for military transportation if you ask me.) We'd be better off if we just replaced all our G-Wagens with the Chevy Suburban variants we use.
INF1D3L010 I agree, the Mercedes G isn't that well thought out. The MAN multi-purpose trucks are a way better (uh...) way to transport troops and supplies, although they are larger.
xXxradius90xXx It's the same thing with the Canadian Forces. Did you know, btw, that Dutch forces use the same Canadian-made C7/8s that we do.
INF1D3L010 YES! Got to shoot with the c8 in the Netherlands, best weapon I ever touched.
Awesome, unbelievable!
As a Dutch taxpayer, I'm part owner of this machine!
Lucky you dude... it has diamonds embedded in the top of it....
Yes you are. So let's take her for a ride.
@Johnston Steiner hahaha
The Tank is from german
I bet the little bit of taxes you pay wouldn’t pay for much of that tank! 😂
Love all the way from Garden Reach Kolkata West Bengal India 🇮🇳 Sahil 😊😊😊😊
Awesome bideo!
This would be the coolest job
America: "I can blow up an entire country with a single bomb" Holland: *constructs a bridge over the crater* heeee??? you likey??? 😏 😏 😏
XD
Its better to build than destroy...
I mean us Americans can do the same thing we have an M60 engineering vehicle different way of doing it but the same concept.
m. rude using german technology because chassis Leopard 1 and bridge on it are german
@m. rude leopard is German...
Hallo. TOLL !!!
My goodness I cannot imagine the mechanical stress on the edge there attached to the tank when it's extended to its fullest.. makes me cringe for the tank.. Poor thing
War IS stress.
Both the bridge laying tank and the bridge are built to take the stress...
@@wkruit I know they're built to withstand it but the forces are still out of imagination for me, comparing it to our own bodies, as are way more things out there in the universe, like how unimaginably dense neutron stars are, or how much bigger some suns are than our own sun, which is already gargantuan compared to our Earth. >

Nice brother
This must be a training video, back in the 80's Armd Engrs would simply drive to a 2m picket by the river and deploy. No-one would leave the vehicle. Bridge would be laid in 2mins and it would be all over.
+Clearwaters Looks like training for a new operator at the controls.
Clearwaters This was a training excercise for new drivers!
Agreed.
i wish games had this kind of sound quality
All games suck serious arse when it comes to armoured and rotary wing... The UH-1H sounds better than a Leopard1... but only just! Have driven both
I would have liked to see a vehicle crossing the bridge
SuperB from Pakistan ❤️
Just wondering, doesn't this system have more number of mechanical parts (hence higher chance of failure, maintenance cost) compared to the one that US Army uses (M60 AVLB)?
Its german, ofcourse its complicate and over engineered, is there anything simple and reliable and practical made in germany 😂 aaa, sorry, vw beatle was simple mass producted thing 😂 luckily its not swiss clockmakes who design this

Now all whe need is a tank to drive over the brige
. . and some water . .
I also feel let down by the lack of vehicles over the bridge...
Dutch government have sold all the other tanks.
Please, can we use footage from your KZhead channel for our videos about military cars, trucks a other machines? We tag your channel as a source ,... thank you. :)

pretty good for my small country with a such small army don't ya think : D
I don't see how the size of an army is a factor in the way this tank operates.
Gay land = gay army
Impressionante!
Super

Its only norway and belgium that has the best type of leopard 1 type. Its the same now on the leopard 2 leguan bridge..
+Ray Jo The Canadian Forces still has uses for both the Leopard C1 and C2 chassis'.
Yes but not the bridge system. They are different
Ray Jo The bridge system is superfluous. It could be installed on pretty much anything in the way of tracked vic chassis'.
Yes. But not the support arm in the back. Abrams tank also got it but from the Leo 1 system
Man i remember using that tank in the military 🥲
his very good.but why dont make and some more bigger? i think for special time maybe is litle for bridge
Because it's an assault bridge. It's meant to get the tank bridage into battle, then the Engineers will bring a more permanent bridge to handle all the rest of the supplies need to advance the battle to the enemy. Been there, done that, I'm a retired Canadian Combat Engineer.
Its a little country : )
Çok güzel herkese tavsiye ederim. Köyde köprümüz yoktu bununla bu sorunu ortadan kaldırdık.
:D
the Leopard tank is German-engineered or not? generally, major military devices, is avoided to have them manufactured by another country ...
I would love this on my morning commute no bridge no problem 😊

Why don't you guys go around the whole

Philippine Army buy this. 👍 Delivered late 2021
They made amodification of the AVLB by keeping it horizontal. There is no way in hell of having someone out in front for pre-launch! He'd be target practice. I see benefits and risks of this equipment
They wouldn't be laying a bridge in the middle of combat. The vehicle is really only protected against small arms and shrapnel, in case of surprise gunfire or artillery barrage.
Nobody needs to get out, this was a training for new drivers.

On a windy day undeployable interesting design
That thing moves waaaaay too fast for its size!
Coen Voors Its 830 HP engine brings it up to 63 km/h on plain terrain. The Leopard 1 chassis has a very small weight with a strong engine and transmission, which give the vehicle its immense mobility. Google it if you don't believe me, the tank is called "Brückenlegepanzer Biber" or "Bridgelayer Biber".
+Coen Voors Dude, World War 2 is over, we have armored vehicles with a good weight/power ratio today ;).
Isn’t it a safety hazard a man standing under the heavy bridge?
In armed forces you will stand on, next to or under even 1000 kg of explosives 😂
LOL !
