    • Screen replacement works, though what I show in the other video is how to basically give you "super resolution" on your existing monitor ... giving you up to 4x the stock resolution ... pretty nifty. With the human eye, it looks MUCH sharper in games! Also, costs you nothing!!

    • Great video man. I plan to do the same thing with my Asus G501J. Can you tell me a little bit about long term experience with liquid metal in your g702, pls? Is your heatsink still fine(corrosion or somehting like that happened?)? Stayed the lm where you applied it? Are temps still fine and are all cores around the same temp? (Heard about issues with uneven heatsink and lm) My G501 has only two screws(its the original design, no screws lost and no mounting points for 4) which are locking down the heatsink to the GPU die(but 4 screws on CPU side). Is that a problem? I know that are a lot of questions but you would help me a lot if you share some of your experience with me. I will donate of course if you give me your PayPal.

    • Thanks Tyler! No way I am going to f..k this up, too precious for me )) I have some experience disassembling stuff, but even though I'll be extra careful with this one. The only thing I didn't order yet is the electrical tape, thought I can buy it anytime in a local hardware shop when the rest arrives. The "nail polish" method would be handy to see for sure. Hoping to get everything by the end of the next week, ordered all on eBay, including the laptop. The laptop I got is brand new , with the Kaby Lake chip and GTX1070, the most budget version with 12GB of ram, mechanical HDD and 75hz display (I read it can be overclocked to 100hz). It takes a couple of weeks to arrive from US to Ireland, still much cheaper than anything similar I would get here. I am a bit worried about the quality of the display, heard there is a really nice 120hz IPS panel available in the higher end versions. Are you having the 75hz screen? If yes - are you happy enough with it?

I read somewhere that one can stack thermal pads to make 1mm thick ones. I'm wondering if I have enough area to work with? I can't tell how big the memory things are. Any thoughts regarding how big the memory things are? I think they are about square, how many mm do you think they were?

  • Thanks for sharing the video. I am interested in this line of laptops but have reservations over the overheating. May just go for the acer helios or some other unit with larger heat sink. It's a shame they don't provide realistic cooling solutions for their products. I would pay a few extra bucks for the "conductonaut" version of this laptop from the factory.

I undervolted the CPU and disabled Intel Turbo (I know a lot of folks don't wanna do this, personally I am still happy with the performance I get.) I use an Opolar LC06 on each vent also. (they do fit, you just gotta work at it) With most games on max settings I get low-mid 60's on CPU and no higher than 72C on GPU. Thanks for the video. I will probably repaste down the road but I think I may have been one of the lucky ones with a good factory paste. After warranty I will probably also dremel holes in the bottom of the case to let this sucker breath.

And why did you only do this on the GPU? Thank you for your help!

    @diegobenedini8884@diegobenedini88846 жыл бұрын
    • Diego Benedini I used the 1mm for all the other components other than the two lowest center areas you see when I have my case open. I did clean the entire white paste (goop) off the components and motherboard, using solution and cotton buds. Make sure to get any stray cotton fibers as well! The protective film around the GPU was much looser and wasn’t tightly stuck to the motherboard around the die like the film around the CPU is ... I didn’t want the chance of gallium getting on my motherboard and other components, so I retroactively removed the film and layed down the high temp pro tape, though you can also use clear nail polish/lacquer. Let me know how it goes for ya!

    • thanks for you answer. i disagree about your idea though. Having constant your videocard used it produce heat. I really don´t need a gtx1070 to watch your video on youtube. I used to have asus before 2x and had issues with the videocard. Now i own a msi for 3 years and the videocard only kicks in when i play games or other heavy graphic software. Otherwise the videocard is off not producing heat extending its life time and energy (battery). But it is just what you looking for.

  • Hi Mr T! I have a couple of questions to ask you. I ordered this laptop, I'm picking it up in 7 days from now, and I am ready to do the re-pasting as soon as I get my hands on it. I've found Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut 1g in my country, but I have questions about other accessories that you used: 1. About the thermal pads, they sell only ones with these dimensions: 200 x 20 x 1.0 mm / 200 x 20 x 0.5 mm, so I wanted to ask do you the accurate measurements of pads that you used after cutting? Can you recommend me how many packs of pads of each should I buy (ex: 2 of 200 x 20 x 0.5 mm, 1 of 200 x 20 x 1.0 mm) so it is enough? 2. We don't have any of ArctiClean products, what can replace it? Can I use 70%/90+% alcohol? Recommend me something, please. 3. I asked about the Super 33+ VET, nobody has a clue what is it. Is there any replacement? I live in Serbia, can you check our online stores and find me anything equal to the tape you used? Thank you in advance!

    @petargrahovac6117@petargrahovac61176 жыл бұрын
    • Petar Grahovac Hey there Petar - Thanks for checking out my vid. First off, order just 1 x 200 pad of each the .5 and the 1mm .. that will be plenty. Use as pure alcohol as you can as second step of cleaning, for second step, use a citrus oil cleaner (like goo gone). If you can't get the tape you need, use clear fingernail polish lacquer and paint on 3 layers (10 minute dry time between layers), and paint it around the gpu and cpu dies. Make sure to subscribe!

    • Are you sure one pack of 20x200mm pads each will be enough? I don't really get when to use pure alcohol and when to use citrus oil cleaner, can you describe it to me? Should I apply polish lacquer on that brown thing around dies?

    • I believe most other components around the die will be nickel, though you will want to make sure there is no aluminum around where the excess went (if any). Overall though, sounds like you put just the right amount, and glad to hear it worked! Make sure you check out my other video that I just recently did, 5 months later, so you can get an idea of what you will be looking at and cleanup. I HIGHLY suggest a reapplication in 5 months, as it will just start building a bond INTERNALLY with the copper and will require a bit more galium than last time, though after the re-application, you will see even better temps! What temps are you getting when you run fans on max?

  • Tyler, what was your room temperature at the time of recording this video ? that you got 55c under load? i get 90c for my cpu and 85c for my gpu im using arctic silver 5 and my room temp during the day is almost 34c which feels like 38c since its humid where i live... ( for cpu only load tests, my temps max out at about 70c)

    @lewisanth4986@lewisanth49866 жыл бұрын
    • Tyler Torgrimson the fans go to max automatically when cpu temp hit 80c and gpu temps hit 75c. The cpu is already unvervolted (.110mv) and locked at 2.8ghz. gpu is set to 0.8250mv @1708mhz.

      @lewisanth4986@lewisanth49866 жыл бұрын
    • Tyler Torgrimson I ment -0.113mv hehe... I took the liberty of pulling the back cover off and manually hooking up a fan connected to a external power supply and set it to 12v. fan rpm (5000rpm) and cfm remained the same... I guess they fixed the fans not maxing out in a bios update which I did about 2 months back.

      @lewisanth4986@lewisanth49866 жыл бұрын
    • Tyler Torgrimson I figured my limiting factor was just my ambient since at uni in a room temp of 24ish c , my gpu tops out at 75c and cpu at 77c. I guess the cooler can't dissipate heat fast enough once the ambient climbs over 30c. but this is Sri Lanka so I don't have much of an option as such.

    @markteague8889@markteague88896 жыл бұрын

I was getting thermal throttling on my g751 so repasted with Kryonaut. Now zero thermal throttling. Fans now have a good 300-400rpm left in them to bring temps down at my new max temp of 89c. Previously the cpu was gitting 95c and throttling up to 20% after just a few minutes of Aida64, CPU+FPU+GPU stress test. 95c is the throttle point for my cpu. Surprisingly before the repaste I saw up to 25% throttling in COD ww2. All sorted with the repaste. No undervolting done.

Unfortunately, Amazon didn't pack it well and the box was beat up and the grate over one fan indented to the point of contacting the fan. Fixed it with pliers. On to testing: I ran three load tests with similar results. The fans ran between 2400-2900 RPMs and the average CPU temp was 58*C. A bit cooler but also quieter. At some point I should rerun all the stress tests with the laptops fans set at a static speed. That would show exactly how much each change is worth.

  • Hey man. Can i use thermal paste instead of thermal pads? I have the same unit as yours. Thanks!

    • gabriel justine ramos sure, on the components. Just make sure it's not the same type of thermal paste you normally use on the CPU OR GPU.

    • Mr. T's Tips may i ask why? I plan to use coolermaster paste for gpu and cpu. It’s not electroconductive.

    • gabriel justine ramos yes sure, use that on the GPU and CPU, I was just saying to not use that same thermal paste on the VRAM and other components. Try to get pads if you can, or get the type of thermal paste they used at the factory. Try to use liquid metal for the GPU and CPU if you can ... works MUCH better for cooling.

  • Hello. Could you please help me? I put the liquid metal on my gl702vs, but changes was not significantly. In Intel stres test in stock termopaste the processor was stable 70* (with -110 undervolt), after liquid metal it is 60-61*. on idle I have temperature around 45* (CPU/GPU). When I run the full GPU and CPU load my GPU was 80*, CPU 95*.....after liquid metal GPU same 80* CPU 85*....What can be a problem? I put enough liquid metal.

    • or should it take aome time untill liquid metal will start working?

    • @@robotospy Liquid metal doesn't cure, it stays liquid. Check changing your T-pads on your memory and where T-pads are before removing them when you are re-pasting your GPU and CPU. I personally use K5 PRO viscous thermal paste for thermal pad, and I use Arctic MX-4 for CPU and GPU T-paste. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K04D3UK/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  • Thats actually funny. I watched your video because I had the exact same laptop here and wanted to LM it too.. Now that I chose a different laptop (GL702VI with 1080) I opened it up to do the same. Will try to use the same pads 0.5 and 1 mm on the Vram chips and voltageregulators.. Now the funny part is, that the voltage regulators of the CPU have a heatsink but there was no thermalpaste on them at all.. But different to your laptop they put thermal compound on big square ones (voltage regs.) of the GPU, the small ones beside them AND the ones on the other side that are I'd say of medium highth (as seen at 10:37, the 4 black ones above the 3 square ones). I am not sure why though. The voltageregulators of your cpu had thermal paste on them, so I guess someone messed up in the factory.

    • sprousaTM it sounds like it! The compound is typically for heat transfer/dissipation from metal to metal. I'd say you are fine using a combination of the two different pad sizes. Any pics of it?
