After watching this season, Toprak’s move to BMW reminds me Lewis Hamilton’s move to Mercedes from McLaren. Everybody was shocked and the general idea was that it was a bad decision. But Lewis had enough of McLaren not giving him a championship winning machine and moved to a constructor team with great financials and great mutual targets. Then he led an amazing winning project together with the team, won many championships. Let’s hope that becomes the case with Toprak because I believe he deserves it and let’s keep this comment here for the future 😊

Wsbk has just as many ekectronics as stock bikes do. They use it too. But its less aero more mech grip... for now

Is heartbreaking to see Toprak giving absolutely everything and not winning. What an insane ride.
Probably the same thing happen in MotoGP where Yamaha is slower on the straight lines, also the slowest MotoGP bike, despite having some of the greatest riders... If both bikes (Ducati & Yamaha) have the same performance (great cornering, fast on the straights), it would be more fun to watch.

Noobie people like you think Yamaha wins because of the rider but Ducati wins because of the bike. Its a circuit not a straight road all the time, Ducati is severely disadvantageous during frequent hairpins. Alvaro won because he was better than Toprak.

I’m not saying that Alvaro win almost every race because of the bike he is riding, I can see that soemtimes he beats Toprak even on the brake

What a battle!! This is the finest racing I have ever seen. Toprak has a slightly slower bike on the straights but has the lethal front brake! He nearly won this race with a slower bike! He has earned a new fan!
Toprak today is Rosi in WSBK. He is a genius, with all the obvious shortcomings of the Yamaha, he fights on character. Bravo Toprak, you are the best.👏

No rider could've ridden harder than Toprak, he's possibly the best rider anywhere at the moment, it's outrageous what he can do - Alvaro had to ride really hard, his only advantage was the final corner and speed down the straight and it was a big advantage !

@@abdielabraar910 I don't know about wouldn't dare, but his extra level is more common in MotoGP for sure and in that class bike setup and smoothness reward more than heroic riding. Additionally, Alvaro is in WSBK because he no longer has a ride in MotoGP. So maybe he does not perform enough there.

I know we all have our favourites - I am a Toprak fan for example - but let's just admit these two have given us a spectacular show. Thank you Alvaro, and Thank you Toprak. If it wasn't for Alvaro being in WorldSBK, we'd be watching a Toprak dominance, probably for about 6 years of similar to what we had during Rea's dominant years. It was not entertaining... Not the least bit like what we have now.

@DenizSasal Dude, if it continues like this, we will win the Bautista and Ducati championship for 6 years this time, just like in the last 2 years. Frankly, I can't find anyone to beat the Bau-Duc combination right now. Because their flatness speeds are incredible. Imagine that you are 5 seconds ahead at the beginning of the race, it is enough that Bautista has 10 laps left in front of you to catch you. That's how unfair the situation is.

Alvaro never passed Toprak, he just outdragged him. I thank Toprak alone for this performance but im not gonna pretend I wasn't very annoyed the whole race. Toprak would lose 4 tenths by the time they hit the start finish line, yet could still out brake Bautista! Bautista couldn't show a wheel because he's nowhere near as talented. He's got the title easily wrapped up. He only needs to finish to finish 14th in 1 race or 8th in superpole race even if he were to crash and sit out the last round, Toprak would still have to win all 3 races. Why won't Bautista show an actual overtake and not just use the power and size advantage? He saves the tyres better than anyone and the braking stability on his bike is unreal. Show me 1 time, he can do what Toprak did to him almost every lap!

Yes, Ducati is faster on the straight but Alvaro overtook Toprak so easy because he was much faster in last corner. After 100m Alvaro was ahead because he was 10+ km/h faster in last corner than Toprak.
Huge respect for both riders... Alvaro was always a great rider since his early career and MotoGP times. Now, with his unmatched experience and huge efforts(despite his age and weight) HIS Ducati is unbeatable. No need to address anything about Toprak. Talent and capability wise, he is the best rider in the world right now NO QUESTION! ❤❤

Respect to both riders. Such battle is what makes this sport so entertaining to watch.
Sometimes you win regardless of the position you finish. Both riders are another level for sure. Bautista is very strong rider and he deserves all the credits he gets. This is a package race we all know. Everything is effecting the results including weather conditions, even the tire choice for a specific race. If it was another rider from current rostrum from WorldSBK grid, he couldn't do what Bautista did against Toprak. Please do not lessen his achievements. Also, opponents give value to every victory. Therefore, as a package Ducati-Bautista deserves all the credits. AS FOR TOPRAK... He is one of the most talented riders in motorsports history. Currently noone can compate with him when all the conditions are equal. He is in another level and this is stated by all his rivals and authorities. Everybody knows what Toprak can do. Even Bautista praise him after the race putting him among top riders in past 20 years. Please charish this sport and learn from races.

Phillip Island MotoGP 2022 was A LOT better than this, not just 2 fighting for the win, but 8, how can you say it'll never be good again? not every SBK race is great either.

Supreme performance, insane level of skill between both riders. Its like Alvaro rides with the knowledge he is going to be passed under extreme conditions, but Toprak is able to adjust, adapt and change his attack constantly which keeps him on his toes. Exemplary riding, respect to both 150%

Put the start/finish line in a different part of the track and you'd end up with different race results. These two guys were as closely matched as any competitors could be. Wow. What a race.
Are we all aware how amazing this SBK era is?! After 20 years following it, through Ducati dominance in the 00's, the rise of Aprilia and Japanese bikes, Kawasaki/Rea dominance, and now we have 3 GALACTICS that are just pouring their soul into battles. Can't wait to see what next year will be. SBK deserves way more recognition, 3 different manufacturers fighting for title and maybe 4 next year with BMW!

So watching these highlights from all the races in Portimao, I have observed that Ducati is so good in the corners. They lean so late in the corners. They lean a lot less compared to Yamaha. Hence they generate more speed. Especially in the final part of the final corner of the circuit, you can see Toprak is leaning in the corner while Bautista's bike is almost straight, generating speed and about to overtake the Yamaha, while Toprak's bike is still leaning. Ducati has worked so hard to make these unbelievable bikes. I just love them so much!!! Yamaha has to work very hard to develop the new V4 engine and improve their bikes. They need to start making street legal V4 bikes like Ducati and Aprilia does. This inline cylinder engine has turned out to be a hindrance for them. It will take many many years to develop a competitive bike but they should start developing now. We all know how long Ducati took to make these beautiful bikes. It takes time but it will be worth it and it will be fruitful for Yamaha and their fanboys. And I will conclude, there is no biker that can match Toprak. He's the GOAT 🐐 If anyone agrees with me or not about the Ducati, please leave a like and your comments. I'm happy to have a conversation.
Finally someone with the same mind. I've been thinking about it for many years that if Yamaha start to have a V4 engine, it would be an amazing era for WSBK and MotoGP... Yamaha has been great on the corners, and always favoured by the greatest riders, but its only lacking is in the straight line speed...Hopefully Yamaha is in the process of developing, if not perfecting a V4 engine, which as well can run at higher RPM like Ducati. The Desmosedici technology is Ducati's secret, see what Yamaha will come up with.
Bautista knows the big advantage of the Ducati is straight line speed so he stands the bike up sooner to begin accelerating.

Toprak is a real champion, he can get the rabbit from the hat every race and he has not only skill and talent but also constance, I really hope for him that BMW can deliver him a competitive bike and support him to win finally the second championship as he deserve

Toprak is super agressive and he's doing it flawlessly. It's just pure joy to watch him. We're so lucky to have the chance to wacth this superb talent. However ending of this fight was so frustrating, Toprak you'll be our champion no matter how that ends. Everybody clearly knows that Toprak is the best rider on the grid. I have nothing against Bautista but he's not Toprak's level at all. Hopefully BMW will give you some decent machine. Yamaha, we wish you good luck with your 10 years old bike on next season, let's see if you can ever see a podium again.

And that is why we watch motorcycle racing. It doesn't get a whole lot better than that.
It takes way more skill to pass someone under brakes than it does holding the throttle wide open and passing someone you have an obvious top speed advantage over in a straight line.
if you brake at the last second, the other rider dont have any space to overtake. Its a classic move by Toprak. Really great riding strategy.
how do you guys just ignore the great riding Alvaro does in other parts of the track? honestly, what toprak did was phenomena but u can give credit to alvaro too for a phenomenal battle. lap times are made everywhere on the track, not just the last corner.

It was my first time watching both races at Portimão, and my first time watching World Superbike Championship as well. Alvaro Bautista and Toprak Razgatlioglu were both battling for the lead back and forth lots of times. Alvaro beat Toprak twice. I understand Toprak's frustration, but he's good.

Next season who can keep up as championship as Toprak did against Ducati. Rea with brand new ride or other Kawasaki riders ? if doesn't have new rules or limit would be impossible. Toprak's aim in 2024 will be his season to takes podium not championship. That will be enough for him to show improvement of his ride and prepare for 2025 championship

Bautista is a lucky driver who does not know how to take corners and only has straight speed and his own lightness, while Toprak is a real warrior and driver. You did your best, soil, you are great

Both riders are exceptional, in my opinion. Perhaps Alvaro has the best motorbike, but he is the only one who can compete with Toprak and Johnatan for the title with it.
The only thing that saved Bautista was his mid corner speed and exit speed of that last corner. He was on the gas like a second earlier than Toprak at full lean. That is crazy.
That's weight and momentum for you, the lighter you are, the earlier you can open gas, you'll lowside if you are heavy..The ducati is excellent at corners, ignorants still think it's the bike from 5 years ago..the only bike having cornering problems is the BMW, they go wide all the time, Gerloff seems to have found a solution..
You miss the fact that Toprack wasn't able to put a big enough Gap in the twisty sectors where Yamaha were a lot stronger,hats off to Bautista ❤

@@kennethgez461you cant ride the bike above the limits you will crash. The Yamaha is better on cornering and braking than the Ducati. Alvaro did a great job in the first 3 sectors to even pass Toprak in the corners. Toprak stated Alvaro made the difference in sector 4, Alvaro was on the wheel of Toprak and had more trust to go earlier on the power to pass Toprak midway in the last corner and get a better drive out of the corner

Where did you get your expertise? It's easier to get 100% out of 110% (Alvaro) than to get 99% out of 100% (Toprak). The V4 is generally way too strong no matter what you say because even Rinaldi won races here and there. Except Toprak, no Yamaha was involved in a possible victory.

Toprak is totally on another level. Despite his disadvantages with weight, height and motorcycle, his talent and skills are flawless and he stands at the top of the food chain, the perfect racing predator. Bautista, Marquez and Pedrosa like racers have their anatomical advantages. This is by far one of the biggest reasons that they are successful in motorcycle racing. If the odds were the same, Toprak couldn't be beaten for a very long time. I'm sure he would've surpass Rea's record breaking championship.
I might be wrong but ...toprak may be the best braker in motorcycle racing history..... Period

What a race, what a dual absolutely incredible. Some of those moves by Toprak was astonishing. If both those riders had exchanged their bikes. Toprak would have won by a big margin.

with him moving to bmw, the chance is very slim imo.
He did a few tests on the Yamaha MotoGP bike, and it didn't seem to suit him at all, he was pretty down on the idea of a move after that. It's a shame, as that is where I'd like to see him racing, too.
Both the Yamaha SBK team and the MotoGP team are terrible. I don't want to think about what difficulties Toprak and Fabio are going through. He was very angry with Yamaha and did not go to the GP. Months ago, there was news that he would go to the test, and yet Yamaha did not even adjust the seating position that Toprak wanted. He rode according to someone else's seating position and before he could feel the bike, it started to rain and the test stopped. Months later, they invited Toprak to test again, but again, they did not even make any adjustments that Toprak wanted to the M1 motorcycle. Can you drive a car or motorcycle based on someone else's driving settings and seat adjustment?

I was there in the grandstand and that was the best motorcycle race I've ever seen.
Alvaro May of won the Championship but Toprak is the true champion! To be able to do the things he does with that bike it’s incredible and anyone who says any different obviously doesn’t ride. To pass another rider on a bend/corner under braking or accelerating requires so much more skill than to wind it on on the straight because you have the fastest bike. Even the commentators mention that Alvaro can be off his line going in to any bend/corner because he’s got the power to come out on top. Oh and just for the record before people start with the fanboy shit I’m a Jonathan Rea fan.
you forgot the fact alvaro also need to keep up through all those corners
Alvaro's last corner pass in race two was ridiculous and anyone that says any different doesn't spend much time on a race track. Toprak himself admitted that he didn't understand how or why Alvaro was able to do it.
