  • This has been said many times, I know, but... In those days, driving an F1 car must have been an absolutely insane challenge. Manual shift, clutch, no automated systems... Mechanical problems were more common, which gave racing an additional element of uncertainty as to the outcome. And the pilots made the difference. Even today, of course, that's how it is too, but in any case, those who ran in these times were true heroes.

  • Wow... that's a FANTASTIC video! Back in October 2006 I was working in Nice and drove to Monaco one weekend. I followed the course as closely as possible in my tricked out Peugeot 307 diesel rental 😂, seeing all the familiar sights from the races. The one that got me the most was driving through the tunnel... the normal speed limit there is 30 km/h (19 mph)! It's possible that I channeled a little bit of James Hunt and pushed that Peugeot to 40 km/h just to feel like I was racing. 🤣

Smaller cars that produce way less dirty air make for closer racing as cars aren't as hard to follow.
