The guy driving the car listening to Bing Crosby was the best in my opinion. That was very gritty and comic book style. Not sure who you are but if you are reading this, KUDOS! YOU ARE THE WINNER IN MY BOOK.
guess what dude, I read your comment ;)
and just know you made my 2020 a brighter year :)
@@snojayjansky1897 It was really amazing. The style reminded me of a mixture of the old batman cartoons (the good animated ones), specifically two-face, and a gritty mystery show. Well done!
@@snojayjansky1897 of all the ones I've seen, yours is the one I prefer!
Reminded me a lot of NightShade (NES) I think Nightshade would make a great animated series
Based on the winners its seems like he really valued storytelling over animation
Was that mentioned in the challenge video? If it wasn't then that's kinda bs. People may have thought he would focus only on the technical aspects and asthetics and animated accordingly.
@@winteraquamarine No it wasn't mentioned
@@winteraquamarine Though it feels kind of unfair, people are totally allowed to have their own personal preferences about these things and if you really care about winning you should design your submission to play into their biases.
@@shadowbunny7892 Oh yeah. No doubt. Jazza can have whatever preferences, my problem is those preferences should be made clear before hand (like how you get a rubric explaining how your professor will grade your assignments) otherwise it's all guess work and luck, which is the part I think is unfair.
@@winteraquamarine I see where you're coming from but I don't think Jazza was consciously grading each based on length or story, he just picked the ones he liked the most. He probably should have come up with a rubric or something to make it more fair but there are a lot of times even in academics when you won't be expressly told what you're being judged on and you have to learn to figure it out. In Jazza's case it's pretty easy to tell from his videos and animations that he prefers humor to detailed art.

All Jazza's choice of course... but does anyone else think that the ones he showed at the start were superior both technically and in story? I mean even the wiggle-wiggle slap one was better than those three but there were some incredible ones in the opening few minutes.
Yeah exactly! I think many of the commenters agree with this thought too, Jazza's picks for top 3 sucks.
I personally think he chose the runner-ups based on the idea that lower skilled art should not be a detriment to good storytelling. For me, that's akin to Egoraptor's early awesome series. They looked pretty low quality, but the humour was on point.
@@superblaster2 I mean I do think that the driving one, or even the fox one is a million times better than the glue one, because they didn’t make me want to delete my youtube account just to get away from them.
@@superblaster2 I get that, but there was no story with the Nexus 3000 one. He got up and did some things. That's not a story structure; that's just a sequence of events. The first few submissions (especially the looping ones) told more in less time. They were more elegant and better animated.
Yeah I think it’s a case of “less is more” the winners definitely were better in terms of difficulty and quantity, but the one with the slap was more memorable and make me laugh for real
the person that did the fox girl animation deserved to win much more than some of these entries, she had actual frame animation going on, whereas other people had still shots panning on the screen, (those are so much more easy to do).
Ok but the fox and bird were not detailed neither were the background, etc. Its good but its not super detailed where as 9:28 is for comparison
Yeah, it should have definitely gotten 3rd place.
People see art differently. He may have thought the ones he picked had far more detail rather than some you would have picked. Even for me I personally thought some others should have won! But that's only because it's by personal choice and interest hah

Just proof that talent is talent regardless of the tools being used.
Talent or skill. Some people find it kind of offensive when you call them "talented" instead of "skilled". It takes a lot of practice to get to the place where they are, and "talent" suggests that they just had it all together from the beginning and that it was a cakewalk

the parts I really liked where the animator obviously used just frame animation and not the built in powerpoint animations. Any shots where objects just went from 1 screen to another are not that difficult to achieve. I saw some pretty amazing things from this video though. Really inspiring.
This video proves it’s not the tools you have, but the drive for perfection.
