wow amazing no one was killed. Clowns milling around a machine in operation. Standing beside a cable under huge tension, luckily it didn't snap and take someones head off. Should have used the dozer, truck and excavator together to pull it out in a couple of minutes.
Yes, that cable is dangerous! I lived there several years, came across a badly stuck excavator with one track run off. It was interesting to say the least.
In these Asian countries, for some reason there is always 20 guys in "charge." I was there on a large engineering assignment and on the very first day shut down the operation , had my translator tell the engineer who hired me to run the project, "either I am the ONLY one giving direction, or I am happy to allow THEM to give directions, and I bare no responsibility, it is up to them." 5 minutes later we working again, and I didn't hear a PEEP from the peanut gallery. (It was heavy rigging and involved a 1 million printing press, Heidelberg.) But I could see someone was going to be hurt with 20 guys telling the Tow operator what maneuvers to make. They later in the week had a unit tip because a timber crumbled and was precariously leaning against the side wall of the building ready to break through, same thing, 20 guys runing in circles screaming, waving arms and getting ready to tell the tow operator what to do. I screamed SILENCE.... had my translator to tell everyone to clear away, and they all went and sat down and watched me upright it 1/2" at a time with a jack. These things are not toys. Education is where the issue is guys on such matters, they don't know.

@@brentbarnhart5827 been there to, logic seems to be lacking with most of them, but i worked with a couple that were really switched on but had no respect (caste system). after 2 years they were all supervisors that i gave the power to hire / fire. that really shook shit up. still was one of the best road / rail infrastructure projects i have worked on, except for the damn rain.

It must be nice to be able to shut the whole job down so every body could watch the action. With all that man power, they could have pulled the machine out with just a long chain and have the operator put the thing in gear ( reverse ) and raise the blade up. Where was the roach coach with the coffee and donuts. .?? I bet they have a new crew next week. YAHOO

Why don't they make equipment so you can put cables on it so you can pull crap out they need to be put on the front and back wall equipment. It looks like a little kid design them. It would have been easy pulling if they would have just designed a pulling system for the rear of it. They could also use the bulldozer to help pull it and it would have been out a lot faster. But I guess the boss new best

I worked there for 2 and half year in charge of civils on the southern rail rehab project, most of the operators there (95%), have had no machine training by experienced operators, and most of them are young boys 18 - 22 yrs, I had to show a lot them how to operate an excavator correctly as they were only trained by guys who didn't know that much as well, only the basics. They also have very little, if no education, so they don't understand, or know about the suction effect wet material has on a machine. In one case I had to show them it was safe to walk a excavator across a creek without getting stuck, that had a white colour (sand) bottom, not brown colour (mud).

The pink flags are a nice touch. The guy in the blue shirt is some kind of boss. He doesn't know a thing but his uncle owns the company. There is a very sharp division of labor in Cambodia. Workers work their ass off. Bosses stand around calling out encouragement and they have cell phones. If the cable snaps the boss will be killed outright as some kind of blood offering to the gods of construction projects. It is another world. The clutch in that Komatsu tractor is burnt toast.
It never had a clutch. Since the delivery/shipping notice stated Cambodia they never installed it. They use a hamster wheel and they all eat the hamster at lunchtime. So work day starts at 10:00 and they work until someone gets a piece of equipment stuck so they fuck around with bumming rides until noon and then its lunch. Everyday this goes on. No wonder Clutch Hamsters are so prized in Cambodia. Coming to a job near you soon....
