Gary Payton II Defense on Ja Morant | All-Defensive Team?

GP2 Defense vs Ja. Watching GP2's defense, a couple of things to note - How involved he gets in the play and how he does not give up on the play. Watch how Ja has to watch his back because GP2 fights back to contest.
Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors. Hustle, rebound, wingspan, block, rotate. Shutdown, lockup

    • He's the last guy to make the team probably because he's small and we needed size. The team was probably looking for a big man, especially because we're already stacked in the guard position. Klay, Curry, Poole, Moody, Lee, Wiggins can all play either point guard or shooting guard position. GP2 is not really a playmaker and lacks offensive skills to play shooting guard. But his defense is top-notch.

  • GP2 is amazing. Seriously will be in the league a LONG time and may sneak into an All Star game one day. But this strategy was actually started a few games before against the cavs. Then GS did it, and the bulls did it later. Only issue with this strategy, Morant still scored his average, all three teams lost, and the other Grizzlies players scores increased because they were playing 1 on 1 basketball . So yes it limits Ja to around 25-27 points but it doesnt lead to winning basketball. The best way to beat the Grizzlies is to zone them up. Granted the zone will not STOP them but you want to make it more difficult for them to do what they're best at, which is paint scoring...

  • I think the one thing that makes this season Warriors scary in a good way and a bad way is that no team has seen them at full strength. What makes it kinda scary for the Warriors as a team is chemistry. Kuminga has kinda developed Donte looking like he was here forever. When Wiggins finally gets back, is he going to be his normal self? If not, how long will it take for him to get there? How's GP2 Wiggins going to gel with this new version of Kuminga and Donte? I'm hoping that we can get all our guys back if only for two or three games before the playoffs.
