Which of the batteries do you think will be the fastest ? You can be very surprised at the result.
If you like trains, then the simple electric train will be very enjoyable for you .The electromagnetic track is very fun.
you need these three parts to making the track.
1. copper wire raw
2. battery ( AAA, AA or C )
3. and two neodymium magnets ( it must be larger in diameter than battery )
If you have all the components so fun can start.

The time depends on the weight of the battery. After all, all three batteries have approximately the same amount of volts and amperes. The more weight the battery has, the more energy needs to be spent to move it.
Batteries from different brands do differ in volts and amps. There's also some correlation with weight.
Nerds
@@snehaldhanwani4707 Come on, stop it. They're cute.
The internal resistance of the battery is an important factor. The battery is short circuited by the copper wire so the internal resistance is what limits the current flow. Two cells could have the same voltage and capacity, but the one with the lowest internal resistance will produce a stronger magnetic field.

There's something really cool happening here, I wonder if anyone noticed. The batteries aren't moving at a constant rate, they're speeding up and slowing down with a beat. They're oscillating... It took a good bit of thinking to work out what's actually going on here. I think you've basically built a standard inductor/capacitor oscillator, only instead of using a capacitor to store the potential energy, it's being stored as kinetic energy. The effect is the same though. ... That's awesome!

First, I was trying to figure out where the motive force was coming from. Obviously the battery current was going through the coil and creating magnetic fields parallel to the coil axis but I could not figure out what they were interacting with. Then it hit me: the magnets were not just a convenient electrical contact point. 🙂
care to further alaborate?
@@kraziebear8383 he attached metal magnets to each terminal on thebattery. When the metal magnets touch the coils, electricity flows through the coils, making them electromagnets. The magnetic field then pushesagainst/pullson the magnets attached to the battery.
After watching this, I realized something: the *worst* battery is almost certain to win this race! A AA battery *must* produce a certain minimum number of volts and amps -- if it doesn't, it won't work at all for its intended purpose. Thus, there are only two ways to vary the design of the battery: 1) * Increase * (above the minimums) the number of amps/volts the battery produces. Most, but not all, devices will throttle the extra potential current and thus improve battery life. See lithium ion batteries -- great battery life, but high cost. 2) Put more or less reactant in the battery. There is an upper limit for the amount of reactant that can be placed in a battery, but... The lower limit is very low. Reducing reactant loads is thus an obvious way to reduce costs, so it makes sense that the cheaper batteries would have inferior battery life. In *this* scenario, however, the most relevant fact is that reducing the amount of reactants reduces the * mass * of the battery, which (since the force applied to the battery is a function of volts and amps) increases acceleration and therefore velocity.

YES! There is a track for the batteries!
a commercial even the company never thought of
When the battery ad says 5 hours but it finishes the race in 35 seconds: *I am speed*
I think it's not the internal capacity it's external size of the battery which makes move faster
Don't know if that's true, watch his drag race video. AAA's vs as vs c cells. AA was faster than the smaller and bigger cells.
Yes, but prove that with ur experimental video bro
I think it is a combination internal and external capacity that will makes the battery go faster, because external capacity by itself will weight it down and cause air drag. If the battery is to move faster it will need a size not affected by air drag and weight and a large internal capacity to hold the charges that produce the energy.
I would like to see texts with nimh cells, they can put out a lot more current then standard cells
Also, all AA Batteries are supposed to be the same size... sooo.......
Junkies in my neighborhood mouths are salivating for that copper!😩😩😂😭😭❤️
Extraordinary . Batteries rotates like bullets inside a gun! Awesome.
Particularly in a 'kids live on computer games' era this is very pleasingly old skool
Yes, it is old school. Primarily because the average kid doesn't have access to a lathe with which to make sufficiently precise copper coils, money for copper wire, room to store their track, or time to spend putting it all together with a 50-60 hour week between time in school and homework based on ~2015 numbers, ignoring the fact that 1 in 5 have jobs on top of that, often working more than the legally mandated limit in their state. That doesn't included extra curriculars, which are increasingly mandatory as fodder for college enrollment, nor the increasing number of schools with community service and similar requirements. It's almost as if, as a result of society having been systematically geared towards consumptive behaviour and exploitative capital generation, our youth is increasingly tailored for the purpose of an adulthood of capital generation to the benefit of a few who live in a state of relative humanity. But, yeah. Old School.
PirateGhost Okay, thats a bit overkill right there
The mechanism is as follows: The battery creates a current inside the solenoid (the coil) on the section bounded by the battery. Any solenoid that carries a current will create a magnetic field. That is, that part of the coil will behave as a magnet having two poles. If you place the "real" magnets in such way to repeal the generated magnet, the repulsion force will cause the "battery vehicle" to move.
so its kind of like a maglev train?

Thanks for remind me my years back forgotten lesson so easily.
The cell with the lowest internal resistance will win this race. This is DEFINITELY a "high drain" application!

@@chriswinkler284 No, what we saw was 3 laps to see which is fastest. Speed is related to mass. It makes sense that the fastest battery would be the lightest one. Now how many laps could each battery do before it was outta juice?

We need to find out if the track gets faster over time as the train polishes off any rough spots and wears away the oxide that's built up on the copper
Battery size. The smaller the battery, the faster it goes. In theory, they should all have the same power as they all output the same amount. A true test would be endurance. How many laps can each battery go.
@@vampiricdust7068 yeah you're right I guess speed shouldn't really matter here since the output is the same for all three batteries. It's the efficiency, cost, and as you said endurance tests that matter...
@@vampiricdust7068 when you say endurance test(numbers of laps before the battery wears off) then you are still talking about the same thing as the bigger battery with a lot of weight won't go as far as the small ones with little weight as far as they have the same charges..
Yall didnt account for drag, or the fact that weight can help
@@vampiricdust7068 That they have the same voltage at no load doesn't imply they have the same power. Yes, if they output the same amount they have the same power, that's redundant, but how do you know they output the same amount? It's entirely possibly the chemical reactions in an energizer can't keep up with the load in this case (just guessing here. I have no idea how much load this is) and is outputting much less.

Do the weight of battery vary speed??? @ 4:39
I was wondering if that can work inside a large pipe to run it underground while the copper is inside the pipe
it is absolutely possible
Yes it could indeed. I personally believe the only reason this isn't implemented into other uses. Is because batteries and magnets deplete fairly quickly.
i´d love to know now how long such a battery "runs"
