Surprisingly this DVD series was never uploaded, well now it is! The Ultimate Warrior features behind the scenes facts about the beloved House Robots. Others will also be uploaded in HD eventually.
Of course this is mainly done for archiving purposes and not to make a profit and I obviously do not own Robot Wars.
We never got to see the people operating the house robots on the show so it always felt like they had a mind of their own
They were shown a couple of times on the show though, I think after either the house robot rebellion or the flipper frenzy where everybody went against the house robots. They sat right under the interview balcony (between the two entrance ramps) and a couple of times the camera moved past Charles and the roboteers, looked down to see them holding pieces of the robots they broke off and taunting the contestants.
They were pre programmed not radio controlled
@@bigmatt1994 Honestly, looking at it now, that’s what it looks a lot like! 😂
Bro when Shunt stopped the Hypno Disc's disc... With a single, non-flinching axe blow, it had me speechless!
He jumped a little in surprise 🤣🤣🤣
Me to 😢
I just can't get over how big the robots are, it's hard to tell on the telly, seeing them with people is actually scary.
(about Dead Metal) "And it's very hard to tip over" Apollo: *Hold my CO2*
This was made before THAT stunt
*laughs in Gravity* Tho TBF that was also after this special was filmed
(from canada, where we watched this show when it was current... not just replays years later) thanks for all those years of entertainment. my gang of friends used to tune in to watch every match and keep up with the standings.. and thanks for the hilarious routine of always catching on fire... we loved that back then. even if we didn't know you guys as huge dominating winners when we saw who was fighting next... we always shouted "oh it's the red guy who catches fire every time.. that guy is the best!" lately while catching up with a bit of current robotic battle stuff, it has come a long way... but there was some charm back before roboteers had everything figured out.. so much creativity in those days.
I heard that razor was told to kill Matilda because they were going to update her anyway
Yep, that's true.
An amazing behind the scenes on the house robots
Thanks for showing this! I’m going to get a couple build kits for my granddaughter and I. There are so many basic skills that are learned in constructing bots. But it’s hard to keep a kid’s interest after the project is finished. Combat bots have the appeal of getting to destroy them after you build them.
Alright, at 41:27; I don't think that "freeze frame" was originally there. Because after that, the audio starts to get out of sync.
I have this on VHS tape and it does the same thing. Bad edit unfortunately
@@TaikaJamppa I had the razor one on DVD, these are great
I can't believe they made all the house robots in just six and a half weeks. That's some absolutely inspired work.
Best video of my life, legends of my childhood hypno disc razor and the commentator i dnt know his name salute to him .......god bless all
Jonathan Pearce
A bit of bad news, the Hypno-Disc (which will be next) has corrupted the last fight on the DVD (Bigger Brother vs Hypno-Disc) Therefore it's awkwardly split in two halves that particular fight.
This video was awesome, nice work
Diffrential steering on ,matilda, sgt bash, shunt, dead metal . Tank track steering, for killalot,mr psycho , skid steer for growler
ha ha granny revenge!...i built one for robot arena2.
I always loved Refbot. It's a shame he didn't appear in the reboot, he was a great addition to the house robots. You wouldn't think he would be, since he has no weapons and is a referee, but to my eyes, he slotted in very well to the cast and was a great addition to the arena, with the ability to free robots and let the fight to continue as well as count out immobilised robots. I really do miss the crowd counting up as Refbot counts out the competitor robot. He just worked so well with the format of the show and to me is a really big part of the house robots.
Gotta love Ref bot falling in the pit
does anyone know if the Chaos 2 and Hypnodisc versions have been uploaded? I cant seem to find them
Congrats to Razer for destroying Matilda
He was told to because they were taking her out of action to update her from the chainsaw to a flywheel
Now please upload the chaos 2 one. Own the other two but never seen this one or the chaos 2 one so thanks for this
(Using other channel sorry about this) I'm afraid It's gonna be Hypno-Disc next then maybe Chaos 2
The Magnificent Mr McGee you're doing us a massive favour anyway by uploading them
Does anyone know what shunt was made out of?
Steel chassis, substructure, wheel guards and weapons, and a fibreglass shell
At about 26:20 what is that thing behind Bash? it looks very similar to Killalot from the reboot to me.
Probably like a beta version of Mr psycho or something
I must admit I saw that I didn't know who or what it is.
Just found out that it's from another BBC show called "Mecahanoids" and the robot is called Assassinoid"
Diotoir That sounds interesting, I’ll have to check that out.
I will warn John Findly and Simon Harrison both told me that it's hard to find any episodes anywhere. They have however got some images and recorded some videos
You guys have a dreamjob!
razor is undressing matilda is that robot sex
I love razer and Matilda’s rivalry over the years
Is the British robot wars still going I seem to only get American version videos They seem empty without the house robots I miss razor I loved how he snuck up on his victim then slowly crushed the living daylights out of them
No, it came back in 2016 but the reboot was a massive failure and it got cancelled only after three seasons
@@Diotoir why did it fail and does that mean that battle bots is the only competition now Still miss the in-house robots Why don’t the Americans have in-house robots
@@gregstickler3798 Various reasons. Lots of Behind the scenes issues, poor advertisements, inability to resolve issues between the seasons, ugly logo and arena as well as overall poor management. BattleBots is the only competition on TV in the western world but there are shows in China and Korea (although they're 99% filler with 1% battles)
I know there's the extreme tour that Extreme Robots do (the people who also campaigned to get Robot Wars back onto tv, and if I remember correctly currently hold the copyright for the name), used to attend the shows that they did in Newport, Wales. I don't think they televise them in any way shape or form, which is a shame because I'd love to watch it on KZhead or Twitch when they do the shows.
@@Diotoir There is something called nhrl which goes on which is a less serious competition like robot wars
How old is this?
2001/2002 this was done
About 20 years now 😯
unpoular opinion: i didnt like the idea of house robots, felt it took away from the idea of two robots duelling each other.
Killalot. What an absolute waste... never saw him wreck anyone.
Yeah. Drill is almost useless.
@@andybreadley429 just watched series 2 back again, and he actually used his cutter... only once mind you. But he did it.
@@andybreadley429 It was good when it was actually rarely used. Can't remember which robot and in which series/episode it messed someone up, I just remember the robot being white, boxy and I felt really sorry for the team that built it (either young or low budget, the bot was already badly defeated), but Killalot came along and shoved it's drill underneath and deep inside the bot, lifted it then span the drill around. The bot rotated and ragdolled around violently with the drill several times over and had all it's internals basically turned in to mince meat. The team couldn't have been able to salvage a single thing.
Wow, I'd forgotten how annoying Jonathan Pearce was.....
