I'm a novice; just started sewing during lockdown (when sewing machines were 300% marked up thank you Bezos) so I click on these videos all the time. Love the idea with the cardboard and pins. I'm definintely going to expand on that - especially for zippers. Can't seam (haha) to sew a straight line to save my life.
Бредятина.
Straight line: use frog or painters tape on your machine as a guide for your fabric. Or a 1/4" presser foot. Zippers: I like using the wash away double sided tape to hold your zipper in place as you sew.
Wow! These are really ingenious 💡ideas. Thank you 😊
I really liked the trick with the cardboard and pins. I'm going to try that. Thank you.
The black button on the presser foot is meant to be the leveler and you don't have to cut up cardboard. Just lift the presser foot with the needle down when you get to the bulkiest part you are sewing, press on the black button, bring the presser foot down, and sew on. The button will automatically release itself when you sew past the bulky parts. You'll have to repeat the button press every time you reach a bulky section you are sewing. Hope this helps.
@@veevee111not everyone's presser foot has that.
Wow, the mitered corners came out perfectly! I am definitely going to try it!!!!! Thanks 😊

Grazie mille 😀sono molto utili questi consigli!!!
Gracias Dios te continúe bendiciendo lo estábamos necesitando ❤😂
The black button on the presser foot is meant to be the leveler and you don't have to cut up cardboard. Just lift the presser foot with the needle down when you get to the bulkiest part you are sewing, press on the black button, bring the presser foot down (it will stay depressed and may click on some machines), and sew on. The button will automatically release itself when you sew past the bulky parts. You'll have to repeat the button press every time you reach a bulky section you are sewing. Hope this helps. **Not all presser feet have the black button so the cardboard trick would work well as a substitute. Good video, thanks for sharing 👍🏼
They sell a plastic “U”-shaped thing for helping with bulky seams. Cardboard would work better by cutting a quarter inch gap in the middle. The two prongs of the “U” go either side of the needle, meaning you don’t have to move the cardboard out of the way after each stitch. I’ve been using this technique for more years than I can count and gone through a lot of cardboard! Then I found the plastic version. Much smoother under the presser foot and it doesn’t shed bits of card!!
@sallyescrader1434 I would love to get one of those . But could u tell me what is name so I can find it in Amazon or joann
@@gladysbaymendoza Mine is called “Jean-a-ma-jig”. It’s bright orange in colour and flat. I looked online and there are double ended ones on sale nowadays, but I’m not sure about that design as it’s angled from the middle and may get in the way of the foot. But I’m more than happy with mine. Happy sewing!
"Hump jumper." Is another one.
It's called Jean-a-ma-jig. Have one, love it.@gladysbaymendoza

Hear's a question I have to ask myself: How did I do things before there was KZhead? Answer: Everything the hard way. Thanks so much for sharing these great sewing ideas!
right? I've learned to sew, change faucet gaskets, install complete brakes on my truck, sharpen saw blades, and even crochet thanks to KZhead contributers. Never in a million years would I have even thought of attempting to disassemble and reinstall brakes on a truck without KZhead contributors.
Since covid, I've learned to make quilts, greeting cards, sew better in general, and bunches of other crafts. It's just such an amazing resource!!! ❤❤❤

Fabulous tips! Thank you 🙏🏼 😊
Vraiment un bonheur de vous suivre. Merci.
I like the miter corner trick. How do you determine how much to turn over on the first corner? Say I want a finished hem of 1" with a 1/4" turn under - how can I calculate how much of that corner do I turn before I do any sewing?
Great tips.
