I have been on a waitlist for a mini dachshund puppy for almost 9 months now, and I am SO EXCITED to welcome Georgie to the family! Spencer and I drove to Twisp, WA to pick him and Elvis (my mom's puppy) up. We brought them both home and have been loving them ever since. They are only 8 weeks old, so they sleep a lot. I don't care though, literally everything they do is adorable. I am in loveeeee.
00:00-03:15 intro and roadtrip
03:15-05:22 puppy pick-up
05:22-07:02 drive home
07:02-08:35 their first night at home
08:35-09:40 nap and play time

    • I totally understand why Des Linden said in an interview (with Emily Abate) that she didn't really have any big goals outside of running besides hanging out with dogs. Abbate kept pushing for Linden to be deeper and Linden was just like, "no, it's dogs for me."

  • Puppies are the best. Our Blackie girl is 9 now but we still treat her like a baby. :) She's just a lil over 5 1/2 pounds and cute as can be. We lost her mom 2 months ago and it was terrible. She had cushing's disease for a # of years. So happy for you and Spencer. Your dogs look very very cute.

  • This is actually crazy because I only have had dachshunds for the past 20 years. Our most recent puppy is also a mini which is our first mini. He has a blonde coat and is so energetiv. He is almost like the one you have, he just turned a year old last week and still either sleeps or runs and jumps like crazy

  • Love your dogs! They are beautiful and will make your day - every day! Please consider insurance for them. This breed has back issues that may require surgery. I had to spend thousands to save my two boyz - but they are worth every penny!

  • Something I would really appreciate would be a breakdown of all the costs you incurred for the dog - upfront and then on a rolling basis? Trying to work out if it is financially viable or not :) so excited for you and having something else in your life to make you smile when you walk in the door no matter how good or bad the run went is the best thing! Plus it makes you rest more as all you want to do is lie on the couch and cuddle with them!

    • Get LOTS of mini treats for potty training. Also, they love to chew on strings, so toys with rope/string or parts that are big enough for them to bite, they love!
