  • Hey Ben, your videos are so well timed for me. Next jobs on my list 1. Secret slide out storage under the stairs 2. Build boxings for consumer unit 3. Larch cladding to outhouses, albeit horizontally installed. It’s like you know my list 😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the videos, nice detail and much appreciated. Can you say in this video, what the pros and cons would be for attaching the batten with the masonry screws direct into brick against plug and screw please? I’ve seen it where screws are just used. Thanks

    • Sorry mate that might of been unclear. I did use screws and plugs. Brown plug and a 70mm screw

    • Sorry it was probably more my comment, I know that you used plugs and screws in you video but i am aware the other option would be using masonry screws alone. I was just trying to see if Plug and screw is always the best option really.

    • I don't really rate the Masonry screws myself as i have never used one I've been happy with. I always use 5mm screw in a brown plug. And if it ever spins you can always tap a yellow plug inside the brown one for more expansion.

  • Looks great mate Did you just put the pergola in parallel (even measurement to the two closest posts with that exisiting wall or was there more set out done

    @douglasfreedom8943@douglasfreedom8943 Жыл бұрын
    • Yes my only option was to put it in parallel with the existing wall as it needed to look good against the larch. Luckily in this case the whole was square almost to the mm

  • I couldn’t work out if you said the wall was level when you ran the string line. Sorry if I miss understood but it was about getting the battens plumb?

    @adriandotsmall@adriandotsmall Жыл бұрын
    • The top bit was OK because my bricklayers had laid that but the purpose of the string is to get a dead straight line across the whole length as somewhere to start, then by using the level to set out the battens below we know they will follow the same line 👍
