Jean is far more interesting when her powers are nebulous and hard to use. The writers lacked a fair bit of imagination in different ways she could have used them. Sophie Turner's version was struggling to control powerful abilities, which was far more shallow as a concept. In addition, they still didn't use her telekinesis in any interesting ways and focused on her telepathy, which is meant to be quite dodgy. I really hope that they pitch the X-men at one step above Daredevil and not Thanos level, at least not until they have worked up to Apocalypse.
