KAMA: Unconventional Samurai Weapons and Farming Tools (Sickle Blades)
Welcome to a new knifemaking challenge with a samurai theme! For this one, I've chosen to make two kama, traditional Japanese farming tools that also doubled as weapons.
Given the limited time I had to work on them, my design is simple and straightforward. However, I'm pleased with the final results. I find the charred wood aesthetic fascinating, and the mirror finish on the blades is satisfying.

Great build, Gader! These were so cleanly done and look sooo lethal! I gotta think Phil's sodegarami would be your toughest opposition. 😜. Thanks for participating!
Exactly 😆
I love the build but also seeing tools you've built/restored being used to make these new things is awesome. Also to see this channel go from thousands of subscribers to millions is amazing. You deserve it with the constant high quality content.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Beautiful. You make those deadly weapons look like pieces of art. Thanks for sharing.
I love the route you took by not making a sword like most of us. Those Kama are badass on the battlefield and in the garden. Awesome build.
It looks so easy when you do it. Thank you!
I really enjoy watching you build stuff from nothing. You do a great job.
Exceptional work, as always, Sir! Thanks for brightening up the weekend by sharing your work.
Magnificent Sickle Blades !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful!!! Congratulations! Rio de Janeiro - 🇧🇷
You, Sir, are a genius! I enjoy watching you use tools that you either refurbished or made to make new works of art. These Kamas are no exception. Great job as usual.
Thank you very much!

Always excited to see you make a different kind of blade.

Awesome work man! Love the tapered holes and pins... that's a super nice touch. Cucumber never stood a chance. 😂
Thank you!! Tapered pins are so addictive. I want them everywhere now!

Very cool blades! I hope you win!
I miss the days when you were restoring lathes, drill presses, making belt sanders etc.. I hope you do some more of them in the future... Take care B.B...
Will do for sure! I got a few old and cool tools I am planning to restore sometime soon. ❤️
@@BlackBeardProjects you restore em, and we'll watch em..
Exelente video , me alegro que hayas vuelto a la fuente . Una de las razones por la que me suscribe a tu canal fue por videos como este 👍👍👏👏👏

Nice video.
loved these in Super Ghouls and Ghosts
wow! Great job. I would like to see how you preparing Drizzt do'Urden's scimitars
Nice to see the uraoshi, for a proper Japanese single bevel.
PERFEITO MANO VELHO! TAMO JUNTO!
9:12 Ah yes, I see what you're doing bud. Using the blades to convey the need to vote... A subtle threat if one does not vote for Black Beard. I'm picking up what you're putting down;)
Ohh, shiny!
Beautiful build. However with use do you think that the handles would split from the force of the blade in the slot?
8:16 OMG I will have nighmares with this...
Man I'd really like to see u make a double bladed battle axe
Love the work BB, only one thing i would have done different, the pin you used to attach the blade to the handle, you used only one pinehich could sllow the blade to hinge and move backwards if struck hard enough, my suggestion is put another pin to keep the blade from hinging... But other than that awesome job 😁👍
I agree about their awesome appearance, though I would have preferred any pins to be made of metal to reduce the "shear factor"
5:51 what kind of blowtorch/ torch nozzle is that?? I've never seen such an even burn
liking those, great build and not a katana is a big plus from me
Nice build! Could you please share the name of the tapering tool you used? Or, perhaps, explain how you created the peg?
I made it a while back, video here: kzhead.info/sun/ip2OiZaGfaGvrWw/bejne.html 😁
@@BlackBeardProjects Thank you so much!
Hell yeah!! Those are awesome and deadly!! What was the tool you used to shave the wooden pin? That looks handy.
A big pencil sharpener I made a while back 🤣 Tapered pins are soo cool to me
👍
You didnt get any stress cracks from quenching in water??
Will these kamas be for sale after the competition is over?
Complimenti!! ps: la melanzana era "incollata" al tavolo...
The method of attaching the blade to the handle does not seem very resistant! But Nice job.
I agree! perhaps single or double metal pegs and maybe a socketed metal cap to give it some strength!
Honestly there isn't much that would go against a kama, what do you possibly have in mind that would dominate them as for me the only weapons I can think of is the naginata and war fan?
What was that piece of steel from?
Not an expert, but wouldn't this be a ninja weapon?
👍👍👍
Those are a very impressive looking sickles, however, those wooden pegs holding the blades in place terrify me! Color ne biassed,, but I would have preferred to see the blade couplings with a socketed metal cap to give them additional strength, and double metal pins rather than wooden ones since they're less likely to shear off at the worst possible moment!
Proudly Italian product
Dona Morte encomendou foi duas logo, para deixar uma na reserva! 🤣🤣😂😂😂
🙂
Youre a gifted craftsman. I dont wanna be a troll, I am just concerned that when you grind your blades, you grind them with the tip up against the rotation of the belt. I'm sure you know what youre doing, just please be safe. Id hate to see you get hurt off a catch.
Why a wooden bit holding the handle to the blade?
hello sir can I use your video on my channel
Hey there! No, sorry, no re-uploads allowed.
Can you make Lobo's (Death) scythes from Puss in Boots?
Hello everyone from Armenia 🇦🇲
Hi from the US 🇺🇸
the handle if you paint it its better than you burn it

Sei pronto per la prossima serie di the walking dead
Ah, yes, the weapon of Kuchisake onna...
Cool 👏👌👍👍👍
I can already guess that the tool was made by testing grass cutting. 😃
Technically kamas we’re a ninja weapon
Love from 🇮🇳
Kama used by Okinawan Martial artist not Samurai's
💥👍👍👍💥
Duel use tools. You can harvest your crop and keep threats from taking your crops.
No weed is safe in your garden now
So, if this is a Samurai challenge, then you made the wrong weapon. As the kama was used against the Samurai as a peasants weapon.
Unfortunately incorrect with that statement. Please research Kobudo. A MAJORITY of samurai also farmed.
Uhm... a weapon superior to this? Does it exist? I know of a skilled samurai that with the right sword can cut bullets in half. Even Fiat 500, steel safe doors, airplanes... do your Kama cut automotive too? Thanks for your video. As always a pleasure to see a skilled man doing what he likes.
Awesome build! And I’m pretty sure you were talking about my butter knife being the toughest opponent in a fight 🥸
Blades turned out hella dope, @BlackBeardProjects!
