KAMA: Unconventional Samurai Weapons and Farming Tools (Sickle Blades)

2024 ж. 24 Мам.

Welcome to a new knifemaking challenge with a samurai theme! For this one, I've chosen to make two kama, traditional Japanese farming tools that also doubled as weapons.
Given the limited time I had to work on them, my design is simple and straightforward. However, I'm pleased with the final results. I find the charred wood aesthetic fascinating, and the mirror finish on the blades is satisfying.

  • Love the work BB, only one thing i would have done different, the pin you used to attach the blade to the handle, you used only one pinehich could sllow the blade to hinge and move backwards if struck hard enough, my suggestion is put another pin to keep the blade from hinging... But other than that awesome job 😁👍

  • Those are a very impressive looking sickles, however, those wooden pegs holding the blades in place terrify me! Color ne biassed,, but I would have preferred to see the blade couplings with a socketed metal cap to give them additional strength, and double metal pins rather than wooden ones since they're less likely to shear off at the worst possible moment!
