  • Your reaction to the Netherlands song is so perfect - I'm sure that going from "oh no it's a joke entry" to "oh wow what an amazing message" is exactly the journey Joost meant to take us all on... it's wonderful to see it translating also across the pond!

  • So for Portugal the song ( Grito, which translates to scream ) is about Iolanda ( Singer ) who had mental health issues. And the dancers are meant to be her inner demons. And at the end of the song there is a big note, which resembles a scream to remove the inner demons. I hope I am correct

    • @@FavourInternational It's extremely hard to make sure all the instruments sound good live (combined with the vocals etc.), there is not enough time to rehearse, it would take up too much space in the arena (which ultimately means less space for the audience). And that's just a few of the reasons :)

      @PatrykEurovision@PatrykEurovisionАй бұрын
    • @@FavourInternationalwhen eurovision was small like containing 15-18 songs, live orchestra was a thing and it worked wonders. The problem is that nowadays, shows take about 2-4 hours, instrument preparations (in-between acts) are hard and if one thing in live instruments eff up, the country would blame that for their results. While I agree on non-live instruments(I’m against pre-back chorus still), I think it helps acts to care less about any failure on the music and focus on performance/singing.

  • Just to provide some info on the azerbaijan issue: Artsakh/Karabakh has had an Armenian majority for thousands of years, it was a safe place for Armenians during the genocide by the ottomans. The soviets displaced thousands of Armenians and replace them with Azerbaijani's during the reign of the USSR, following the collapse, Artsakh wanted to be an indepedent state but Russia and Azerbaijan declined, and a war broke out. Armenia was successful in defending the area and Artsakh was a de-facto independent state, but Azerbaijan still claimed to control it. In 2020 Azerbaijan began an invasion, which in 2023 led to near genocidal conditions for Armenians in the area, 100,000 Armenians have either fled or have been killed by the Azeri army, which is a puppet army for Azerbaijan's dictator. Its also important to remember Azerbaijan is a dictatorship with some of the worlds lowest human rights scores, if Armenians didnt leave the area they would almost certainly be killed or forced to hide their identities. Just to end both sides have committed atrocities that cannot be defended, but the land was always occupied by Armenians until the 1950's. The people who were in Artsakh were mostly families and they were forced to flee by a genocidal dictator who has claimed multiple times that he wants to replace the armenians in the area with azeris.

  • I am definitely going to give points to Europapa over some other songs, because I give points to songs I enjoy and would listen to again and again. Some songs are good on paper- but I never go back to listen to them because they are either boring or there are other songs that "fill the need". I give points to songs that makes me feel strongly of an emotion. Europapa gives me such a happy feeling that I will at least try and vote it into the finals. But in the finals I will vote on more serious songs.

  • It’s fully fair what you said about Israel and Azerbaijan. I do think you’re downplaying the Azerbaijani violence a bit too much tho. I’m fully in favor of banning Israel and Azerbaijan. No offense to the artists, if they are good people their nationality doesn’t matter. I love that you liked Portugal. It’s my favorite ballad this year and it’s criminally underrated. The song is about anxiety and mental health so it makes sense she is a bit stiff. Also, heads up. Czechia will also be rock and I think it’s the best song of the three. The top 3 in the odds to win are switzerland, Croatia and Italy. Favour, we love your Eurovision videos.

There are 3 broadcasts. 2 x semi-finals on Tuesday and Thursday. And the final is on Saturday. They all start at 9pm Europe time. The time difference with New York is 6 hours. It is afternoon in New York. It is the largest television event in the world. Simultaneously, about 200 maybe 300 million people are watching. It can also be seen live on television in Australia. And now also via KZhead. Have fun. Greetings from the Netherlands.

  • Gåte is pronounced like (gauh-te) and it means riddle in English. They were formed in 1999 but took a break after 5 years until around 2018 when they got back together until today. The song talks about a maiden who is forced to drink her brother’s blood by an evil stepmother to make herself whole again (a gross oversimplification). The song is heavily based on a 10th century Norse folk ballad with an unknown author and the original was actually the entire Norse ballad plagiarised so they had to change it directly before the final which may have led to their win. This song is their typical style mixing folk instruments (the instrument (nickelharpe) and the lead singers’ vocal techniques (kvilding, a traditional herding call in Norway) and lyrical messages with modern music and production techniques and music styles (gothic/ethno metal). This song defines why I love Eurovision and is so captivating and heavy while being epic and amazing. It is my winner of Eurovision this year for all these reasons. Hope this enhanced your understanding of the song if you’ve seen it, really enjoy these reactions btw as they allow me to compare mine and yours’ opinion which is why I watch all of these videos from you. I love you, see you next video. My top 5 is: 5: Italy 4: Belgium 3: Croatia 2: Slovenia 1: Norway

  • My theory about San Marino is that most of the audience that listens to eurovision doesn't listen to their music. Also this year is pretty strong, maybe their attention went to more unique songs. Otherwise I don't get it. The song is fun, their performances are wild and their vocals pretty good Also, the point of eurovision that non-europeans might not be aware of, is that we NEED gimmicky songs as much as we need good quality songs in the contest. The literal idea of the contest is that quirkiness and fun these songs bring

  • Apparently it seems we have the same taste in music, so, marry me? Just kidding, eheh. Or not 😂 I'm portuguese btw. So not biased, at all, that we do have one heck on an entry this year. And yet, Europe is gonna sleep on us...Again!! *I'm just mentally preparing myself to curse on Europe once again.

  • If you like Balkan music, I'd recommend you to check out Dino Merlin in your free time. He's a Bosnian singer with a lot of stunning Balkan ballads. P.S. He also took part in Eurovision, but his Eurovision songs weren't really that style of music.
