That is not a living moss wall , thats preserved moss. You can tell by the garish colours.

Looks good but how is the moss supposed to live without substrate, on toxic glue .... i dont get it.

Is it only alive for the time being and then after a while the plants die?

No they stay as it is for 15-20 years . They are not alive , they are stabilized

I thought preserved moss is for indoor installation only because of water and direct sunshine. Both are going to degrade the preserved moss.

It very depends on climate and yes you are right depends on sunshine direct
