  • When this man said, "oh my goodness! I want to play you one more!". I cried. I'm a 43 year old guy, and the complete lack of ego or anger in this guy is what I need to strive for in life. I would have been upset if I were him. Goes to show how much I have to learn. I would have felt like they were making fun of me, or getting a laugh at my expense. Which isn't the worst thing I guess, but I'm touchy about things like that. Of course Pia is the most docile, calm person I've ever seen play chess. Great video, really. I learned a lot.

We can have a long talk whether or not it was 'ok' for him to 'simply' assume the both could not play, but then we 1) enter into the fair assumptions based on probability from experience one always makes to assess a situation and 2) based on their very hesitant responses resulting on his heartily invite. The moment they kept quiet on his first basic introduction/questions, the 'trick'/ 'lie' started. Also keeping quiet can be a lie/trick. And in this case certainly. And consciously purposefully even, as it would make 'a great video' if done respectfully. And this great man's response made it indeed a good clip.

    • @@jarlnils435strategy and tactics are the same thing. If you really want to make them different, strategy is more long term, and tactics are short term actions that achieve the goal in which your strategy wanted.

  • He had such a great energy. Child like in the best way like someone else here wrote :) Love that he just enjoys it even if it's still his passion!

  • I love that the gentleman was passionate about teaching a higher level of chess to someone he believed to be a novice. His sincerity and desire to give mom an entertaining experience was admirable. I'm sure there was a further lesson to come, but mom obviously thwarted it. The dude probably gives a lot of people a memorable experience. Full marks to him.
