  • Thank you so much for having such a mentally healthy approach to eating and body and joy of life! It is so refreshing compared to other content on the internet, which is all about extreme regiments and dogmas. Thanks for being such a good role model😇greetings from germany

  • I typically don’t watch “What I Eat” videos because they can be judgmental (ie, food is good or bad), triggering (I have IBS-so I have to watch out for too much fiber-and recovery with an eating disorder), or painfully not yummy. I saw the soup on Instagram and thought, I solider through because I want to see that soup! (Which I will be making!) what this was, however, was a video of you delighting in food, delighting in your pregnancy, and EATING!!! I love that you mentioned intuitive eating too-the cure all for what ails us all around food. Dr. Ellis, you are the best! And I would let my young daughter watch this and not be afraid Diet Culture was going to wrap it’s tentacles around her heart. Thank you. Just saw the soup is from The Modern Proper! They have the best recipes, and for this Celiac Girl, they are super easy to modify to gluten-free. I would not have survived cooking 3 meals and 2 snacks per day for almost 18 months without their inspiration and recipes. (Chef’s kiss!)

  • You are heartwarming to watch! 💞 I think I smiled through your entire video! I was pregnant many years ago and not as informed about nutrition as many are now! Towards the end of my pregnancy, all I wanted were BLT sandwiches with avocado 🥑 slices inside! 😆

  • Who else is making that soup asap? 🙋🏻‍♀️ it’s so cold here in Canada and I think I’m just going to go right to it and double the recipe like she did. I really enjoy the “what I eat in a day” videos to get out of my food ruts. Your approach feels real and it’s much appreciated.

  • I didn't have cravings during my pregnancy but had aversions like no other! Peanut butter was the main culprit in my aversions. I also struggled with hydration. I sometimes found adding a slice of lemon to my water helped. Also love your recommending Emily Oster's book! Her books are my favorite, really the only pregnancy book you need!

  • During my first pregnancy I couldn't eat anything bread-like and I developed a lactose intolerance. During my second pregnancy I couldn’t even keep water down so anything that didn’t repulse me at the moment was what I nibbled or sipped. I only gained 18lbs the second time around and somehow still had an 8lb baby born (3 weeks early). Our bodies are capable of great things so I love the intuitive approach you’re sharing❤️

  • What an amazing video. I eat very similarly. Love soups in winter, I'm into red lentils at the moment, while not enjoying the regular more meaty ones anymore. Love citrus too, I live in London but am constantly ordering lemons and oranges online from Sicily in Italy. Delicious snack with dark chocolate.I also love chia pudding when it's warm outside. In winter I prefer hot porridge but I'd add 2 spoons of chia every morning.

  • You look great and I love your healthy, balanced mindset towards food. No one should be judgemental or critical of how others eat. We are all doing our best and you obviously are eating the foods that are right for your (and your baby's!) body. Loved this video btw - gave me some ideas with the chia pudding & buddha bowl. I looove buddha bowls. I eat mostly plant based too! 😊

  • I am so going to make this lentil soup! I too had a huge graving for citrus when I was pregnant. The first few months was cheese, crackers and citrus. Mid pregnancy I couldn’t get enough egg salad sandwiches, California roll and citrus. The funny thing is that before pregnancy I hated egg salad and really wasn’t a fan of California rolls either. The Japanese restaurant where I would get the rolls is on their own well. Their water is absolutely amazing! So delicious! I’m always telling them they should bottle it. So, we would go in every Friday night and they would have my roll waiting along with an ice cold pitcher of water - Nirvana for an 8 months pregnant lady in June!

  • I like to watch your videos, because you seem to be a strong willed woman who loves sience and knows what she is doing. I think it is inspiering to be so selfasured without being arrogant. I am pregnant for the second time and so happy about it. My problem is, that I feel so tiered all the time and that deminishes my disciplin to eat healthy. It leads to me eating less healthy than I ate before becomming pregnant, which is not fine. Last time it took me till the beginning of the second trimester to catch myself and come back into the swing of things. But I realised, that every les healthy food I eat results in me feeling very sick. So I have the feeling, that my body tries to lead me into the right direktion.

  • I love your approach: eating healthy and balanced is so important, also not feeling guilty for not being 100% plant based. My diet is almost fully plant based but I can't live without cheese, sometimes I would have a Greek yoghurt or even fish or chicken. I don't claim to be vegan or vegetarian, I just try to eat mainly plant based food but I do add other bits every now and then. The only thing I couldn't forget though is that you have an espresso machine but you have an Americano! As an absolute coffee lover, I am just internally screaming 😄☕ Thanks for letting us know about this book, I really don't want to give up coffee when I get pregnant! I love your meal suggestions! I agree chia seeds aren't for everyone, I add them to my overnight oats but can't have them on their own. Can you please talk more about working out during pregnancy? Has this changed for yiu and how? Did you speak with your gynecologist first?

  • I never felt better than I did when I was pregnant. I love your approach to food. I’m plant based as well but get so caught up in it that I rebel or just eat a baked potato with smashed avocado on it which is my go to meal every day until I could throw it across the room. 😆 Being prepared is essential to success for sure.

I'm unfortunately one of those people who can't stomach coffee or broccoli (2 of my favorites) in the first trimester but I eat about 7-10 grapefruits per week (the citrus bug is real! lol) -- aversions are definitely much more common for me as well -- xox, your friendly neighborhood MICU NP :)
