Paul McCartney crossed the famous Abbey Road pedestrian crossing almost 49 years to the day since The Beatles’ iconic album cover was shot there.
The cover for ‘Abbey Road’ was shot on August 8, 1969, by photographer Iain MacMillan. It featured all four Beatles on the pedestrian crossing.
The star walked across the road on his way to an intimate gig at Abbey Road Studios, with daughter Mary filming the moment. Halfway across, McCartney turned and did a quick pose for the camera.

Love it !! I had the pleasure of walking across it with my wife and oldest daughter several years ago and it was just so freaking cool to do. Got to give the motorists credit, they do really have pretty good patience with us tourists -lol

It’s interesting how tall he looks and how narrow the street looks. Part of the genius of the LP cover is the angle from which that photograph was taken.

I’ve walked in those footsteps. It’s a surprisingly busy road. Had to do it. Got a pic of us standing in the doorway of Abbey Road Studios….will never forget it…

Abbey Road !!!! Just magic . White Album ! St Peppers. This band evolved under our very eyes in the sixties and early seventies. I was only a child. The air was magic , yeah things do happen these days. Standard of technology, so ngs and sophisticated standards live. These guys changed music with other important bands and singers at the time. Special thanks Paul, Ringo , George and John last but not least. A great partnership and solo respective solo career.

THE BEATLES were ordained from GOD. Thank you GOD for giving us the most wonderful great and fantastic band EVER!!!!!!!!!! Luv ya John Paul George and Ringo!! I remember seeing them on the first Ed Sullivan show back in 64. Everyone in the US was watching and the electricity was coming right through the TV set!! Awesome!!!!!! And you knew you were witnessing something really historical and magical...beyond great!! I saw Ringo boppin' along with the boys up there on his Ludwigs and I knew instantly that was what I wanted to do! Still playing drums to this day thanks to you Ringo... Peace and Love is right!!

At almost 80 you don’t take chances walking barefoot and ending up with cut and bad infection on filthy London sidewalk. He is still having a blast releasing music when he pleases and enjoying the still adoring public. 300 yrs from now people will be humming his standards.
