Hey everyone! Welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. In this video, we’ll be discussing something that has a very different function in the muggle world- I am of course talking about Broomsticks! Where a muggle may see this as a tool which they dread taking out of the closet, a wizard sees an opportunity to fly.
Now, we hear a few different brooms namedropped throughout the books/ and films. Most notably in one of the beginning sequences of the philosophers stone, when Hagrid first takes Harry to Diagon Alley. When they walk past the broom shop, children are gawking at a broom through the window. “"Wow! Look at it! The new Nimbus 2000! “ Harry overhears as he walks by.
So, the Nimbus 2000 was the hot broom of the time, but as the books/films progress we also hear of newer, faster, updated brooms. The Firebolt was released in 1993, and it superceded the Nimbus 2000 as the best broom around. Harry eventually gets one as a gift from his godfather Sirius, when his Nimbus 2000 is snapped by the Whomping willow.
So, with all of these brooms being namedropped left and right, it made me wonder- how many types of brooms are there? It turns out that between the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series, there are a whopping 22 different broom types/makes. I say types, and not brooms specifically, because there are many iterations of brooms like the ‘nimbus’ and the ‘comet’.
Tune in to find out about all the brooms in the Harry Potter series!

Harry Potter Theory Why weren’t there any Cleansweeps 4, 8, 9 and 10?
Sorry I feel like there's a lack of info with these type I wanna know there top speed and how there used in the moves and books (if they were ever used orentiond)
Toy broom 😂
A shame the lore seems so undeveloped :(
Can you do a vid on Hogwarts showing, describing and explaining every room and just everything a bout the whole castle.
Grand Admiral Thrawn, is this what you do while you are not hunting down the rebel alliance, admiring art, and being a badass.
@@althor1247 he is learning the culture of the wizarding world so that he can integrate them into the first galactic empire
*how many rooms were so well hidden that they only reveled themselves once every few centuries and only to the right person who was at the right place at the correct time?*
Yeeeeesssssss
There r hundreds
Now this is something that I usually don’t think about. Honestly I thought there was only the Nimbus 2000, Nimbus 2001, The Firebolt, and the Standard issued broom. Thanks again HP theory for expanding my Wizarding world knowledge!
Julian _Slughorn you didn’t even know about cleansweeps or comets?
Ross Stephen Ah yes I remember while reading coming across comets but I don’t quite remember cleansweeps.
John Lorton Thanks for the put down, really appreciate it!! And just for future reference If you don’t have anything nice to say please don’t say it. Thank you!
John Lorton Wow you’ve got plenty of time to keep on sending these 😂. Instead of using your time sending these stupid comments get your dumbass out of mommy’s basement and shut the fuck up. And I will put on my helmet and get back to my coloring books thanks for reminding me lmao 😂
Comet two sixty!
My favourite broom is the one Mad Eye was flying at the start of the seventh movie. It just looked so comfortable.
IKR I would want to fly on one
SonnyWeg same
Haha, The Blue Bottle is the minivan of the wizarding world. All of the Quidditch Mom's (soccer mom's) have one😋 Ps. 6:32 Nvm
Tatsusama 🤦🏽♂️😂😂

Brooms I knew about, Commet 140, 120, 160, 180, 200, Cleansweep 1-11, Nimbus 2000, Nimbus 2001, Firebolt, Toy broom, Bluebottle Brooms I didn't knew about: Thunderbolt, Silver Arrow, Air wave gold, Turbo triple x, Australian Flyabout, Oakshaft 79, Siberian Arrow, Starsweeper, Mctawny Broomstick, Fambus stationwagon, Tinderbast, Transylvanian Barb, Twigger 90, Varapidoes, Yajirushi.
There's also comet 260
and commet 290
Damn i was expecting more stats on the brooms, length, weight, top speed, steering. But i know its not like all that info is anywhere to be found. Great video tho. I liked that you included the year on them.
Ezio Triforce Such was my thought as well. Also I´d have liked to know if one could order personalized broom, with hefty load of gold, of course.
Ivrish con-Abarth if you find the right people you prolly can
This is the kind of Harry Potter content I like- how about a video about borgin and burke's dark artefacts? That would be interesting
Yessss!!! Can we please do this🖤💜🖤
My favourite broomstick is the nimbus 2000. But I also like the 2001. I think that the sleekness and tight end of the nimbus line make them look more like racing brooms and so make them look fancy.
I’d love to see a recap of all the quidditch games from the books
What if Harry killed Bellatrix when Voldemort was telling him to
Always two there are, a master, and an apprentice.
“The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural...”
what if you read the books
He can't. He is not that powerful
Muhammad Hashir well he kinda killed Voldemort, but idk
do a video on all of the wand woods.
Charles Leonard agreed! I want to see that too
And wand cores!
This will be out soon!
@@HarryPotterTheory Great!

I can imagine at the international level the team brooms worked like the old F1 teams. Each country developing its own technology and being funded somewhat by its nations government.
I really like these new "list format" videos you've been making recently. Keep it up!
I like the Nimbus 2000 it's not to flashy but it's also very fast and easy to turn.

My favorite is Nimbus 2000, because it just looks so sleek :D
2001?
@@George_Bland I think the Nimbus 2001 looks like it was made out of plastic rather than fine wood. Its superficial look fits well with Lucius buying them for the entire Slytherin quidditch team to bribe them into giving Draco the seeker spot. The Nimbus 2000 looks like it was made of high quality wood.
How u Got so many videos out this last week? Keep it up I love it man ❤️ all the love from Denmark. My friend
Thanks ! I wanted to know more about the blooms!
Great broom video! Can't believe I'm late.. my favorite broom would be Nimbus 2001, because of the style and colors. The firebolt would be a close 2nd hecause of the speed. What's your favorite broom? Will you be doing a video on how to care for a broom? Or how about what type of wands and how each wand maker differs? Can't wait for the next video ⚡💗. As Always, thank you for the great content! Stay home and stay safe everyone 💓.
Another great video as always
You guys are killing it!!!!
Good video man!
Great video, great content!
Could you do a video of all charms
Love your vids
I love how the Nimbus 2000 and others have the down swept seating position, a feature us muggles would compare to some modern racing motorcycles. The model names have a very MX bike feel to them as well 🥰
The Nimbus 2000 will always be classic, but I’ll never forget how happy I was when Harry upgraded to the Firebolt.
Sirius is such a good godfather.
That Bluebottle one had me wondering the entire video how you could have a family broom. I mean, they are basically like flying motorcycles (which is weird, because Hagrid actually has a flying motorcycle), and how can one have a "family" vehicle when it is just one thing to straddle and can barely hold luggage, let alone a family worth of people. Then the Fambus hit the screen...so that's how. Still, though, unless there were some kind of special enchantment, you wouldn't want to take small children on a broom, the same way you shouldn't take small children on a motorcycle. It'd be too easy for them to fall off.
Well there were toy brooms for children
The witches and wizards of the Harry Potter world hav never been overly concerned about child safety
Could you do a video on how racing broomsticks are made?
If I didn't know anything about any of these and had to pick one based on their names I would pick the Silver Arrow.
The clean sweeps are so interesting
Starsweeper... man, that would make a good NightWing name!
I like those books
*what brooms (if any) were were more easily "tweaked" and then more capable of to achieving truly dangerous and near suicidal speeds when prompted to do so* *would be curious to hear any theories of brooms deemed far too dangerous for students to use but possibly used by those belonging to the Wizarding World Circumnavigation Racing Circuit*
Hello! Thanks you so much for this video! I personally haven’t read Cursed Child XD but I’m trying to get an ebook out. So my personal favourite broom is totally the Firebolt (; Also can you please make a video about magical beasts?
I would imagine the "silver arrow" would be like the classic muscle cars of the 60s and 70s, even though the first models probably came out in the 1800s.
Interesting, I imagine a Mercedes. They often call the Mercedes F1 cars “The silver arrows.
I was hoping after the 2nd wizard war with Voldemort, the wizarding world would have a economic trade boom like after both world wars , like how privatized spending went up like jobs, housing and car production, but in Harry Potter people would start doing that etc but instead of cars but broomsticks being produced more and see different models of them etc
Reminds me of all lightsaber types
Ghost fire crystals for the win!
you mean blue, green, red, and yellow
@@Eyebrows842 more like the hilts

Love that you used card images from the Harry Potter Trading Card Game! I really miss that TCG
Thanks for sharing i didn´t there were that many different brrom types i know a few ot them.
I knew about the Nimbus 2000, Nimbus 2001, Firebolt, Silver Arrow, Cleansweep 7, and Comet 260. The rest were new to me.
Love yo vids
I dont know why this is so entertaining but i liked the video 😂
Can you do a video on wands, cores, woods and lengths. Mine is spruce, Phoenix feather core 14 1/2 inches
Mine is the exact same as Harry's wand, XD. 11 Inches, Holly with Phoenix feather core.
Head Sh0t nice
Where can you see what wand you would have?
Vegeta Is Better Than Goku make a pottermore account and take the quiz
Sirius124 oh ok cool thank you, I thought that just had information that was left out of the books, didn’t know it had things to do on the site. Will definitely be checking it out!
I would love to see a video that features all brooms
Would you do a video on the wizards and witches in the paintings?
Would love to have a Firebolt Supreme 😍
It’s interesting how you place McTawny as a separate broom type because it could be the manufacture of the starsweeper
Can you make a video on origin of magic?
So basically; just like cars from around the same era.
I live about 80km's from where the brooms for the movies were made!
it superseded the nimbus 2001*s that Lucius used to buy Draco into the Slytherin Quidditch team
Next do all wands and wands types
As a racing and Harry Potter fan, I always wonder how is the broomstick racing there. Is there some kind of Formula 1 style racing with special built racing broom, or a GT category with modified commercially available broom, or even endurance broom racing like 24 hours of Le Mans? Maybe there also illegal broom racing which attracts Aurors' attention? Also at 2:15 that's a nice homage to Mercedes-Benz' race cars
I wonder if the makers of the Nimbus 2000 just gave Mcgonagall the Nimbus 2000 when they heard Harry was going to be seeker for Griffindor sounded like a good way to boost sales when the boy who lived was using your broomstick
Can you do one on mad eyes broom he is one that has a one of a kind type that you never see
All I want is a Firebolt with forward swept furniture like Moody's
*Video:* ...one hundred and forty-second quidditch world cup... *Me:* 140 seconds? Jeez, so much money spent for 2 minutes of excitement...
Honestly, the Nimbus 2001 looks beautiful.
What about Mad Eye's broom? Who made it, him? Cool video.
It would be really helpful iff the year of the quidditch world cup was translated to what year that is meant to have been relative to teh story.
I also would love a shirt video about the American version of qudditch. I think it’s called quodpot
psusarahkate Also, at the Russian wizarding school, instead of brooms, students ride on trees!
@@YellowBear-kx1ff Why fly on sticks when you can fly on a whole tree?

Wait which broom did Victor Krum fly in the Quiditch World Cup in the Goblet of Fire Film Adaptation at the start?
How do the boys sit on the broom. Do their wear a guard or something.
My fav is the broom one my mum uses to clean my room
Do robes come 9f different brands?
my favorite is the Nimbus 2001
Don't forget that all Slytherin quidditch team received Nimbus 2001 from Draco's father.
its funny cuz most of Harry's stuff are gifts his owl both of his brooms its so funny cuz if you go through it all almost nothing he buys with his own cash kinda messed up when you see Ron end up with everything being hammy downs like his wand to his dress robes lol what a true friend
my favourite broomstick is the firebolt
My favorite Broomstick is the Firebolt. Even my PC is named Firebolt. I don't specifically have a reason for that. I guess I simply like the name.
Can you make what if?

Is there a custom broom groups like custom cars for muggles?
Kind of weird that in the Wizarding world countries like Nigeria exist. You would think that there would be completely different entities than "countries", since countries are supposed to be a muggle made institution. Nigeria for example was created disregarding the cultural and ethnical differences of the population living there. It's a highly diverse area and you would think that in the Wizarding world, there would be some sort of different institutions other than muggle countries. Same goes for Japan or countries like Germany
What broom did Mad-eye Moody fly (laid back)? ;-)
I have a question, did wizards not make magic brooms for sweeping?
Are there death eater ranks
I don't think so tho some are treated better than others like Bellatrix so ye I guess
What type of Brooms were used when the Aurors were escorting Grindlewald?
The Irish Quidditch team ordered seven Firebolts for the Quidditch World Cup featured in the goblet of Fire. Which is why they wipe the floor with the competition, I might add.
Do we know what type of broom was in the room of requirement which harry, Ron, Hermione, draco and goyle used to escape the fiendfyre?
The Turbo XXX sounds like it has a vibrating function
Do a video on magical nations boundaries. These I don't think always correspond with Muggle nation boundaries. For instance the British Ministry of Magic rules Great.Britain and Ireland. I think MACUSA is over both the United States and Canada. At the time it formed both were the British colonies
what broom did krum have during the film adaptation of the quidditch World Cup?? I'm sure he had a bright red broom
Firebolt or maybe its upgrade
How about explain the backround of quidditch?
After watching this I have 2 questions 1. Where the F is pottermore/J.K.R getting their Japanese knowledge (calling the Japanese school , "magic place", and the broom, "arrow sign") 2. Is riding a broom required for quidditch? Can voldemort play just by flying or would he need to ride a broom even if he doesn't need one
They need to make broomstick race
How much is speed of yajirushi broom stick
Firebolt
Hi
How many broom companies went out of business. I was hoping for more broom variety. List of broom types that should/need to exist. 1. Fast 2. Good breaking 3. Good turning 4. Family 5. Cheap & safe 6. Great at cleaning houses 7. Unbreakable & long lasting
Wow.
I think it’s kinda crap that if your quidditch team were to have not as good brooms as another team, due to not having enough money That you would be basically set to fail Brooms should be supplied for quidditch players
Agree. At least for school level standard issue equipment from brooms to protective gear should be mandatory so that the players' skill become the deciding factor.
It's like muggle cars... A lot of factorirs
Fire Bolt
Wait. I remember hearing about a broom stick called the Nimbus 3000.
Dragons? Then brooms?! YES!
