And maybe this next part is just my assumption, but Julia is so well-respected, and he seems to always admire her work so much, that I can only imagine her particular fervor meant extra-lots to him. Just such an adorable wholesome moment all around. I parasocially love these creators so much XD

The Drawfee gang might tease and make fun of each other, but when it comes down to it they're all always so supportive and praising each others work and skills. But this time Julia sounded _so_ utterly outraged at Nathan being down on his piece that it was honestly beautiful.

    • Yeah. One time a literary got 99 out of 100 for one of the subjects in the uni, and the rest of my group (is that what it's called in English?) got less than 80, and everyone hated me for whining about my grade, but I couldn't help it. I am a perfectionist (and it's unhealthy). Poor Nathan. He's not allowed to be upset about being below his own standards 😅

    • I am that kid and man, it doesn't always suck to miss one question on an exam; sometimes it's just a really hard question or something I didn't know. But it sucks a WHOLE lot to miss one question and that be for some dumb mistake! Like, forgetting the number 4 exists kind of dumb. Getting the chemical formula for water wrong kind of dumb. That's what usually happens when there is one wrong answer: a mistake that literally no one else could've possibly made.

    • In my country, there’s a thing called a national test. It’s an adaptive test made for the government and school system to see how kids are doing at school. Anyways, in the national test for english (second language in my country) I was sure I’d made so many mistakes. Every time someone asked me how I did, I said that it wasn’t great. It felt like my skill had devolved. Skip forward some weeks, and I’d gotten… 100%. On an adaptive test… Talk about underselling yourself. Btw, this wasn’t meant as bragging, sorry if it came across that way

  • Props to the Drawfee crew for always being pretty transparent about their mental states when they're doing their projects "I was going through a lot so to be honest I did this this morning." "I stood up and said I just don't want to do this right now." Because while these things are true they did find a way to get what they needed to do done in the end, or if not, their coworkers understood and the crew member in question picked the ball back up next time. I think there's this really unhealthy taboo against being open about struggling with your job and I find it really nice that Drawfee crew *does* talk about their struggles and more often than not, they have resources, help networks and flexibility in place that they can get what they need to done. They all know what is expected of them and they challenge themselves to do the best they can but aren't afraid to admit "this isn't my best work but I got it done" or "I just couldn't do it this time but its important to me to try my best next time," and their coworkers trust them to do that. I find that kind of understanding in a workplace really admirable. EDIT: Case in point, near the very end Jacob says "Sometimes you have to [break the rules of the challenge.] I feel like if you're in a bad mental state about it, its better to break the rules than feel like shit." We stan a crew that keeps everyone's mental health first.

    • Yeah it means a lot to me as someone studying Graphic Design while dealing with a lot of mental stuff. Sometimes (okay most times) you just Can’t and that’s okay. But also sometimes you gotta do something you feel is crap anyway and that’s also okay. (And usually the ‘crap’ is amazing you’re just too deep in a funk to be able to tell) …Anyway yeah this channel means a lot to me

      @DeathnoteBB@DeathnoteBB Жыл бұрын
    • I also approve of people with talent (especially those who have achieved some success) speaking openly about their processes and struggles, both personally and in their field. It really does help people on the outside looking in (whether they are aspiring in similar fields or not) to see that you can struggle with things like this and still have success and pursue your hobbies/passions and even (maybe) make money with them. Not only is it great for those who need to understand that coping with normal life problems, or even mental health things is actually possible, it also tells everyone that just because you chose a profession you love doesn't mean that you won't have days when you're like, "I don't want to do this," and even more importantly than that, that just because you don't want to do something, that doesn't mean you don't have to do it. The Drawfee crew is also a great illustration (no pun intended, but hehehe) of having a supportive group of friends/coworkers and how healthy that can be for a person.

  • So fun fact: Colour inversion is simply inverting the 0-255 values for red, green, and blue. This is why it's a little tricky to predict when you're working with hue, saturation, and value like most artists do. The reason the inverted colours instead use the RGB values instead of HSV is because humans see using three cones in our eyes to detect how much red, green, and blue light is around us. It's why when you come inside from a bright day your vision is burnt green; your eyes are oversaturated with yellow and you start seeing the inverted colour when its gone

Like, Nathan focused a lot on picking the right inverted colors to get the final product he wanted, but in the end, he got something bolder and more striking than he would've made otherwise. Jacob did a great job finding cohesive colors that were close to his reference, but he also managed to make a piece that looked really cool and complete in its inverted form. Karina took it so chill, and it's like she used the inverted color picking to make a piece with semi-randomized colors, which was a super cool effect. And even though they say that Julia kind of missed the point of the challenge, it was really interesting to watch in a different way because the more frequent inversions personally showed me more about how the inversion affected the colors and the nature of that relationship.
