  • I've owned both. The Vizsla seems to be more in touch how the owner FEELS. They seem to be uniquely intelligent with a sense of humor. I love all dogs but the Vizsla seems to be in a class by itself. Peace7

  • I have had experience with both breeds and for the most part they are very similar. The major difference that I have had is GSP's are more independent than Vizsla. This can manifest in a manor of different ways, in the field GSP's tend to hunt for themselves and you have to keep up with them; while a Vizsla will hunt for you and constantly want to know where you in the field and they tend not to range as far away in the field as a GSP would. GSP's can have a bit of a stubborn streak in them; think of a 2 - 3 year old child having a meltdown in a shopping mall. The GSP on a occasion will look at you as if to say. "I know what you want BUT that is not going to happen today!". Vizsla's tend to be far more clingy than a German Shorthaired Pointer, most Vizsla owners simply refer to the dog breed as 'V' for Velcro. No matter what breed you end up with and you are able to provide the exercise and training the breed requires then you will have made an excellent choice for 12 - 16 years.

    • Same here. Had both. You're spot on. Biggest difference to me is the individual personality. Both can be super high energy. Both can be super chilled. It's dog dependant.

  • Excellent! Have to agree about the advice for GSP owners and small animals. My lad - who’s encouraged when asked to hunt to keep the rabbits, moles, mice and rats in control in our paddocks - struggles to see our little terrier as a friend. Fortunately, little Max is a little Mad and not only keeps Freddie honest, he is in fact in charge. But Max is older, wiser, learned how to rule the roost when a gun-trained working spaniel arrived and thinks those paddocks are ‘his’. I’m not so sure that a little house pooch would do so well....

  • I have both breeds at the moment, and they're both great dogs to have in a family household. The only real thing is that our GSP is a lot more intendent then our Vizsla. But besides that, they are great!

Training is going really well all thanks to your tips 👍🏻 great knowing that training for our GSP will be abit tougher as he is our younger one. So we will work on that. Keep up the quality videos 😁

  • Vizsla is a much more focused dog, so she is waiting for your order, she doesn't have the character of a cat to go alone and hunt without an order and on her own instinct, she is also a much much much older type of dog ... The disadvantages are that she has to be with you. characteristic of a hunting dog. She is not hyperactive and is not a dog for everyone, she will not approach people on the road or jump for anyone, she only loves her circle of people and she is not interested in anything else. So, she’s not as sensitive as you speak and describe here.

  • We have a Vizla and are considering a new addition in the near future ,the crossroad is another Viz or the GSP , our Vizla is only 11 months at the moment however trained to a reasonable standard ,she obeys basic commands like sit ,stay , heel and re call is about 75% on the good side depending on what’s interesting her at the time , we have never had two dogs at the one time ,what would you suggest as a best option another bitch or a dog or does it not matter?. Really like your enthusiasm for the dogs

  • Having had both at different times in my life, I feel the gsp is more willing to do everything for hunting. Most of the vizslas I have encountered are less likely to want to go into water and retrieve.

  • How do they compare to Coonhounds? I have an American English (Redtick) Coonhound and.a Bluetick coonhound. Both adult rescues that used to hunt. They are highly active and very domestic pet friendly. They treat my cat like a little brother despite their otherwise very active prey drive. They keep all critters near my home under control and instinctively sense when it’s hunting season. They love children but are a little too much for little ones running around. The main drawbacks are they bay and have no recall. I exercise them in a large fenced in yard and we take long walks around the woods and cranberry bogs where they can still track while on the leash. Are GSPs and Vizslas easier to manage? I love taking the walks but would like a dog that is more trainable and a bit quieter.

  • We love our Vizslas so much. Their tender hearts make it easy to love them, even when they are bouncing off the walls with their energy. I think GSPs are lovely dogs, too, but if they’re more stubborn than our Vs, I think we have made a good choice. 😊

  • We have had both these breeds and love them both...Vizsla was more easy going, where GSP much more domineering and pushy, also much more athletic...thankfully we have lots of space to enjoy her gallop as fast as she can go for as long as she wants (most of the time); she keeps an eye on us and returns when whistled back in...word to the wise ...gets ' cabin fever' without a good run or long walk EVERY day!!!

It’s taken me this long to get another dog and I’ve gone for a male GSP, definitely agree he’s a little more head strong but training is going well, Hugo is only 15 weeks and not too far off the size Nushka was at full grown 😱

  • I got a GSP 11 months old now, I love her to death but boy, I didn't know what I got myself into, haha, good part is I lost about 3 sizes of pants from all the walks and she really starts to be very trainable now but in the beginning, that energy! couldn't keep her focussed for 1 second and her being my first GSP I had no idea how to get it. Now however we are great companions, I am not sure however if this breed is very suitable for little kids, I got two wild boys age 5 and 7 and she is very wild with them, luckily my kids are wild and tough so they don't mind getting thrown over or being dragged trough the snow or mud by their clothes but I can imagine not all kids will like that.

    @bellafund2255@bellafund22553 жыл бұрын
    • Hens: definitely not. When visiting relatives our vizsla simply terrorized the chicken in the neighbor's garden. He stayed at the fence just staring at them all day and the chicken gathered in the farthest possible place of the other garden. Those hens must have anxiety issues for the rest of their lives.
