Full teardown and disassembly on the new Lenovo Legion Go gaming handheld PC. Accessing the SSD is very easy and the build quality is good on this device. Components seem reasonably easy to repair and replace.

You make it look so easy. The way you gently and professionally take off the parts make it seem more like a strip tease than a teardown.😁 Great video.
Wow. Amazingly built. Repairability looks great!
Nice been looking for teardown, thx.
Lenovo making it really easy to remove the battery is awesome.
Man I think the Asus ROG Ally has to be the king of easiest handheld device to repair as of right now
that and i love having a 4tb harddrive
But for transportation, this takedown will be easier to carry around. And i like how snitch legion go is. Still i see both have pros and cons. I like how you can use go to play cs2 competitively. While you can do on ally but that will be a pain. Cause keyboard and mouse will take out some usb slots.
@@NamelessPassengerBluetooth??
@@LagiohX3 bluetooth have high latency.
@@NamelessPassenger a good mouse > some extra latency... and also, the legion go mouse/controller is using bluetooth, so it would have the latency anyway...
Wow, thank you, now i can repair in Future, when it is nessessary.
great job!
This is what I wanted to see thank you man 👍👏😎
Good video. I appreciate it. A tip: Samsung t7 external ssd is great with the GO and other portable machines, I have a 2 terabyte t7 and it is about the size of a credit card, thicker of course. Fits snugly in your pocket or wallet. It is also durable. A handy addition to the go, a 2 terabyte, or even bigger storage on the go for games, pictures, files. I wholeheartedly suggest everyone check outn the Samsung t7 ssd. It trumps the microsd cards easily in speeds. Specs of the t7: USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) Capacities: 500GB, 1TB, 2TB Read: 1050 MB/sec Write: 1000 MB/sec Drop rating: Up to 2m Security: AES 256-bit hardware encryption Color options: Red, blue or black Weight: 58g A perfect companion.
Great Job..
If you want to make a simple battery change, you need to remove all components. 😂. What the F.
What's component is in that right bumper facing the camera view. It gets hot while gaming that's why. I wish they would've cool the none fan side a lot better when I think about it.
Excelente
Thanks bruh
just two ram chips? can you show component behind motherboard?
Pretty easy to repaste on this unit. OMG repasting on Onexplayer 2 is a real nightmare!
Question fot the Lenovo Legion GO. if I want to replace ONLY the fan, do I need to take out the battery first, or the fan can be replaced easily as soon as the back cover is removed?
Hi,did you ever find the answer ? Thanks
@@rainerrain9689 no, did not find yet
@@MyName-yi4ws Ok thanks. The only thing holding me back from buying the LeGo is the fan noise. I wish someone would swap fans to see if that makes a difference ,especially when the software update for fan.
@rainerrain9689 honestly speaking, it is not that bad. Once you set the gaming into balanced mode (NOT performamce), it is ok. Just to give a very rough comparison, bakanced mods on the GO is comparable to the Deck with the fans running at low-mid range. Besides, that, it is a truly amazing device,, the most complete and top tier handheld I have ever owned (and I had quite some of them, including the Deck and the Ally).
I think my Legion Go's display is broken. It boots up and everything works, but the display doesn't work. I just put it on the bed, but the display doesn't work. Is there a good solution?
Any compatible ram chips that could get soldered on this board? Spacing looks way to tight to even try.
Seen people pull off 32gb upgrades, so seemingly there is.
bro. Can you send me the link to download that video wallpaper on Legion Go?
Can you also do a Re-install video?
Just do exactly what the man do, but get reverse. Be careful with the connectors since this Legion Go has many port to connect. You also need to keep eyes on the thermal pads on the copper heatsinks as well.
why dont you teardown the gamepads as well?
um...have the LTS text on the board?
Thanks for such a detailed disassembly. Did I see correctly? Is type-c soldered on the board? If so, then a place in hell has already been reserved for the creators.😈
Is it safe to replace the ssd without voiding the warranty?
Yes, in matter of fact Micro Center is already selling 2 tb Lenovo Go! They replaced it themselves and are selling it very cheap compared to doing it yourself. Get it from them, of course that's if you have a store close by.
Did change the thermal pads lower the temperature
Really , from what to what ?
You said Webcam. This has a webcam or is that a light sensor?
had no webcam i think because camera app don't work
too bad you have to do a complete dissasemble to replace the battery
True. Before you can get the pull tab of the battery, you already remove 90% parts of it.
How many times are going to replace the battery. Not really an issue
@@ricksanchez7250 maybe once, twice is the limit for this unit. Coz if you're a heavy gamer or maybe medium gamer. Your will always drain its battery. For a big SCREEN, do you think its battery will last. Not only it has a big screen, all its specs are hype. So what do you expect. Battery always degrading everytime you use it. Many wrong things can happen whenever you are removing parts. Even when you're careful. Something always go wrong.
@@ricksanchez7250depending on battery specs and how much you game on said battery, even two times during the lifetime of the device. Li-ion batteries degrade a bit with every recharge/discharge, losing max capacity and chemical stability over time. On average current Li-ion Batteries are rated for between 2000-3000 (it always turns out to be bit less in practice) full discharge/recharge cycles, so in a reasonable scenario in which every day you start fully charged, take your device on the the go and use up most of the charge when on a train or something, return home and fully recharge it and for the rest of the day play while plugged in on the couch, over the entire year that's about 1/6th of your entire battery health grinded down. Given that these handhelds are full feature relatively high spec for their size PCs it's safe to assume that they will stay in use 6-8 years of varied intensity use, possibly by multiple owners. So when the time finally comes, it's a nice and welcome thing to not be forced to fully disassemble a device to do the job, especially when you happen to be the clumsiest person you know, the less steps to do so the better
@@chowna7941 it's true, you and I are in the same page.
Doesn't look like there's any space left to fit a 2280 M2 drive. That's too bad.
What
I tried to fit and nope. Not even angled
yeah this was a deal breaker, i have way too many games on my ROG, didn't care about the VRR much
@@revrenecalyx837 Could u please show the link ?
@@vaskerstudio9429 not like the Ally can take one either without an adapter card.
Is the SSD held by a philips screw? Really? I thought it was JIS.
Damn they’ve soldered two of the usb type c’s to the motherboard. 😩😤
Deck, ally and now legion go... All have usb c soldered to mb
Can you make 1 more careful video only focus on changing the battery please? Since casual user only need to change the battery. Thank you.
I rather have the Rog Ally is super easy to change
Can you upgrade the ram from 16 to 32 ram
I don't think so the ram maybe soldered to the board
Easily like a desktop, no, but if you can desolder and resolder the chips from the board then yes.
Webcam? Is had a webcam?
no
6:05 webcam?
he means light sensor
Is your phone computer toaster and refrigerator not enough Webcams?
Only 2 RAM chips ??
Yes less is better with ram chips 2 is more stable then 4
@@ricksanchez7250 This is not very user-friendly for RAM chip upgrade needs. Ally can be upgraded to 8G*4
@@electric_softit’s soldered ram, user friendly upgrades aren’t a consideration.
@@ricksanchez7250correct me if I’m wrong but pretty sure it’s the other way around. More chips = more BUS width so better ram performance.
I can’t open this damn thing! 😡😡😡
I just returned mine, my hands are average size, and this handheld is too clumsy and big to game on. Also, doesn't do a great job on AAA titles. I think the Ally and Steam deck is a better choice.
Yeah you have small hands not average
i think it has the same APU as the Ally, Z1 Extreme so it should perform similarly
It's definitely better than the ally and steam deck bit I like steamdeck alot more and hate the ally over the three. Well hates a strong word. I dislike it.
Neither the steam deck nor the ally will do any better in AAA titles. The ally and this will have basically same performance as they use the exact same chipset. The legion go has a nicer screen though the ally has VRR. I haven't had any problems with hands my size. The steam deck OLED would be a solid choice, but it's performance is going to be slightly worse. The legion go can also use an external GPU and then connect to a USB c dock and become a full blown workstation
nightmare to replace a screen compared to the oled
Better quality than the asus rog ally? Feels words the controllers are cheap and they waggle a lot is anoying that the me is not a better build the ally feels a one solid machine good materials inside everything is simple as well and I like the 2 fan edition I dint saw q single benefit from the legion go coming from rog this feels more like a concept than an actual product even the screen 144hz is waste in that device.
Temp way lower dude , my controller are bomb prove , wtf you Talking
Where's the teardown? This is just an ssd replacement and you didn't even show putting it back together.
Hi ! Repairability ? Battery replacement ? Whats your score ?
Took less then 10 minutes to take apart. Be glad you don't own a Sony camera
Lmao its not an easy thing to repair compared to other handhelds
