Hey guys, I'm switching it up a bit on you today. I wanted to show how valuable and collectible these Topps Stars Wars cards are from 1977. If you see any out at garage sales, flea markets, antique shops or estate sales in mint condition, definitely pick them up. Condition is key on this set. They have to be in mint to gem mint condition. I hope you enjoy! Let me know which non-sports trading card you want to see next!
I love this set. I have a complete set in binder that I showcased in one of the videos on my channel a few years ago. I may have a few gems in there but not really interested in going thru all the hassle and expense of submitting to PSA.
Keep the Star Wars theme going. I am a collector of Masterwork since 2017. Masterwork base sets and short print parallel sets are extremely limited. I am curious to see if anyone is grading these cards and the autograph cards.
Hello, I am glad that I watched your video. I have two 1977 blue sided star wars cards #57 luke skywalker and #58 Harrison Ford. Unfortunately they are not in mint condition though been kept in a metal box with my other various cards from my childhood. Their corners aren't at their original 90°but slightly rounded. Both cards aren't bent torn or scratched, out of 10 I'd say they are between 7 and 8. Where would you advise me to find out their value? Thank you very much for your reply.
Hello I have a stack of the blue ones you mentioned how would I go about getting them valued I'm in New Zealand
I have most of these you listed. They have been in sleeves since 1977. Sadly a lot of my sleeves was stolen. I'm going to check out this PSA site.
I have a shoebox full of these. Probably graded PSA 1 LOL
Same here probably like 5 for me
I'll buy them message me
Crazy huh! I just looked at mine and I have 15 of these top 25, but not this condition!
The reason the #1 card blue Luke is so valuable is because people would sort their cards and put it on top. Many would rubber band their collection leaving this card very vulnerable.
Ahhh, yeah that makes sense! Thanks for the input, sir!
I swear i have the luke if anyones intrested in buying its about a 9 im getting it psa graded soon
Na its because its the first card in the set, aka the “rookie” card. Same reason why card #9 in 1966 batman goes for so much, joker “rookie” card
Did you ask them? 😂
@John Mc all of them baby!
#63 May the force be with you, my all time favorite. Thanks for the list
I love these cards. Could you do a video on the stickers from these sets? That would be cool too.
Going through my old cards tonight for fun as I live overseas and rarely get back to my home in Oregon. Came across about 150 of these old Star Wars cards and your video. I have a lot of your top 25 here in excellent to what I'd guess is mint condition, even a lot of doubles of these rare ones. I suppose the only question is since I'm not really a collector is what is really mint. These have been sitting in a shoe box in a closet since the 70's. Was kind of fun to watch through this, all the baseball cards etc and perhaps the most valuable cards were Star Wars cards, who'd a thought it.
It would be cool to see an updated version of this. All 10s are currently selling for considerably more then they were at the time.
My first time watching your show, i have learned a lot today, because i just discovered i have the No 1 card series of Luke Skywalker, thank you so much for making my day, God Bless !
Great video! Keep them coming!
Awesome I’m looking through a box of hundreds I picked up at an estate sale for 30$ huge box
I like the non sports card theme. You should do more of them. I really enjoyed seeing a blast from my past. More of these kinds of videos would increase your fan base. Love it, keep it up.👍
KEEP GOING ON THE NON SPORTS CARDS
This one tugs on my heart strings. I saw the original Star Wars in 78 as a 7 year old. 48 now and i'm still devoted to it. Just not the this Disney bullshit!
@Drew Bravo Have you changed your mind in recent months?
Bad ass video yes you should do more videos like this it was very interesting thanks for the video!!!
I just came across this video and am very amazed. I have a box full of old Star Wars cards from my childhood that I almost thew out into the garbage years ago. Thankfully I just couldn't do it and kept them. Going to find the box of cards after work and see what I have. Some of the cards in this video looked very familiar.
I have 16 out of the 25 on this list and believe in mint condition. I will submit to PSA for grading. Thank you for the video.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. 😎
I know I have a a handful of these cards in sleeves in binders that I put away years ago. I also have the complete set of Empire Strikes Back cards complete with checklists and stickers. While I think they are in good condition i don't know about the true grading.
Thanks for the content matt
Great point by the author! The ones that are most valuable are the ones that most of us thought were totally lame and probably threw away back in the 1970s
I always like the Blue Card called "Trash Compactor"... its funny how a lot of the Star Wars nomenclature came from the Topps Cards
The only times I have seen these cards they are all banged up! So getting one graded PSA 10 would be a smart investment in my book! And good timing releasing this video with the new Star Wars tv show coming out tomorrow!
Oh wow, I had no idea! I'll have to Google that show. These cards are insanely rare in gem mint condition, with the massive popularity of the franchise who knows what the return on investment would be on a PSA 10... I would definitely invest if I had that kind of money, For now, I'll have to stick with the mint 9's.
Great Job! I really enjoyed this video, have watched it twice now. I went through my small box of non-sports cards to see what I had, I pulled a CP30 Error card and its in fabulous condition, prolly not 10 but still in great shape. I also pulled 7 other cards on this list, all not 10s but its neat to know that after 40 years of holding on to them they are worth something to someone. Might be selling some this coming holiday season. What about the Next Star Wars set the Empire Strikes Back in 1980 or the Return of Jedi Cards from 1983 since its the season, I have a ton of those cards and they are in really great shape. Wait for the others until another movie comes out, but I have some of those too like SuperMan, Indiana Jones, Jaws 2. Also don't forget the WWF cards from 1985 or even the Garbage Pail Kids...lots to think about for more videos. Keep them coming.
Thrine Harpring Awesome! Thanks fir the feedback! Can’t believe you watched it twice! I’m definitely looking into the ‘80s and other Star Wars sets fir future videos. I had a ton of fun making this one. 👍👍
Just stumbled across this video, pretty cool . I still have several of these cards, not in mint condition but in good shape. I guess I like to look at them too much when I was a kid.
Great stuff!
Card 1 tends to be the most valuable because it was always on the front of stacks of cards and tends to get the most beat up, same can be said for the last card in a set. Most kids that collected these even back in the 70's, used rubber bands to keep the stacks of cards together. I had some of these cards back when they came out, they are long gone for sure. Great video!
Oh wow, I can see that being an issue. These cards are incredibly tough to preserve in gem mint condition so being first card in the deck was surely a cause for destruction to most. Plus, every kid probably wanted the Luke #1, right? Which more than likely spilled over from generations. Thanks for the feedback!
Wow I found blue #7 and red #99 in a bag in a junk drawer! I used to collect these and somewhere in my junk collections there is a photo album with many of these brand new cards. Its treasure hunt time!
Awesome video. Always been a big collector of most Topps Non-Sport issues. However, have enjoyed collecting many other Non-Sport sets, singles, and of course wax packs. Still have a decent collection. Possibly down the road many of us would enjoy another Top 25 of say...KISS, Elvis Presley, or Evil Knievel. Cool Stuff PSA guy. Keep it up. Love your videos. How about a Top 25 of Your cards, sport or non-sport related. Enjoy your day. Thank You again. DW
I have 180 and 256 in pretty good condition def gonna look into getting them graded
yay, we just pulled out my sleeve binder Ive had put away since 1990 , I have #5, #2 and#1 on this video's list. not gem mint perfect equal side cuts but close. Very happy to see my efforts not gone to waste in preserving these so long ago , the binder is full of star wars, empire strikes, and garbage pail kids cards.
Hey Matt. Question about submitting these cards to PSA. Do they fall into the TCG category, or do I submit them like a normal value modern card? If they have to be submitted like a sports card, do you know if the turn around time is somewhat less? Just hoping to get them back this year! Great video and keep it up.
I think I have have a bunch of these cards at my aunts just didn’t know they were worth much Gotta go try to find them when i visit for the holidays Great video I was big star wars fan at age 9 lol
Robert Gray I was a huge fan as well 😎 still am kind of. After making this video I wanted to watch binge watch the Films 👌🏻
I remember back in '77 how the "Blue Cards" were what everyone wanted... especially the one called "Light Sabre Duel" .... i'm in the progress of watching I want to see how high it ranks.. EDIT - sorry the card I was referring to was "The Light Sabre" not "Light Sabre Duel" that card was the bomb back in '77 but only 15 on this list
The number 256 marvelous droid. I have 2 of them. Not graded have had protected and untouched along with Wonder Bread cards.
I wonder if you could do another video except this one for the Empire strikes back cards? I have a lot of those cards and a lot of them are in mint condition or near mint condition. Their hand me downs they mean nothing to me but they might mean something to somebody
i inherited some of my grandpas old cards from this set, and i just kept looking at the cards that he was mentioning and it would say, population of 3, and im sitting here holding 5 of em
Population is referring to cards that have received that grade. There were hundreds of thousands cards printed but only very few were kept in gem mint or even mint condition
Any idea about the stickers an action figures. The stand that you send away for ect
I have multiple of the top 25 - would say they are in fair condition for most, very good for a few. Where do I go to get an estimation? I always knew the tons of these I collected may have some value some day and looking to sell. Many thanks Matt!
Good man Matt!
I have around 225+ of the yellow series cards that I collected as a child when they first came out. Kept good care of them, stored them in a small box & around 1984 my dad had the foresight to store them properly along with the action figures, etc. I had. I just happened to open the box over the weekend and started going through them. I only have 4 of the 25 on the list & have multiple copies of each: Darth Vader #25; Han Solo #24; Princess Leia #11; Carrie Fisher as… #5. Granted, viewing the cards over the video would not be like seeing them in person, but I think I would be safe to say that the copies I have are in much better condition than those shown. I think I might have to consider selling some of them…
I appreciate you clarifying the high prices are contingent on PSA grading the cards a 10. Too many youtubers throw out PSA10 prices on raw cards during pulls smh...
Starter starwars
It pains me to see that I had all of these cards as a 7 year old.
I found a book of Star Wars galaxy trading cards series one and 2 from 1980, 1993 I think in our garage do you k now how I wpolr find out if they are valuable ? thank you!!
I found some of these cards in amazing condition, where can I go and sell them?
i found the complete sets of blue yellow and red in one of my dad's old shoeboxes where can i get them appreciated?
ive got a question. I have a LOT of Star Wars cards that I bought as a kid. im seeing that they need to be certified to sell at auction. how in the world do I get my cards certified PSA? ive been looking everywhere and I cant find any information on costs or logistics of sending the cards in for inspection. thanks so much
I am trying to take my 1977 Star Wars cards out of an album that has an adhesive backing. I am using a blow dryer to help remove them but some of the print on the reverse side remains on the album. Do you know what the best way to do this and will PSA grade the card a lot lower because of this?
I have a full 1st series 1977 Star Wars wax box. Would I get a better price selling the box and 36 packs unopened or open all the packs and sell each card and wrapper and empty box separately?
Very Impressive video ~! You keep it focused and great descriptions- ...when you say ' Population ' what does that mean ? Can you do a Follow-up on these exact same cards for Spring 2024- I'd like to see where the market is 4 years after your video - here. Thank You, Sir~!
I have a question and looking for some help. I own a full unopened box of the 1978 topps star wars 5th series with cantina scenes. My dad bought for me when I was like 8 years old. All 36 wax packs inside are unopened. How should I go about having it valued, and would psa look at a complete box and give a rating?
I have these cards in my shoe box. Gonna look for the gem ass mint card. 💵
Now I'm glad as Hell I still have some of those cards I got from a yard sale back in the 90's 👍👍👍
I have several of these cards that you showed in the top 20 some of my have three of each the one that you said number one with Luke Skywalker I have two of those these are cards are personally bought when I was little back in 77 I have about 350 of them I don’t know how to go about selling him thank you
Ahhh this is so amuzing, i myself just bought a wax box of The Black Hole. Now that I got it I have reservations about opening it. I had very few Star Wars cards back then. My 3 big non-sport cards were #1 Charlie's Angels, #2 The Black Hole, #3 Alien
"Prepare to Enter the Black Hole!" 😂 Very interesting set 👍
I was looking through my dads collection and he had 2 o I wans I was so exited
What is the process for getting them graded PSA ?
I bought a box of these cards for $100 today. It has all of the rare ones you named. I have the other #6 for example.
Wow another great job. Just wish my mom didn't thrown away my Star Wars cards. What about 1980 Donruss Dukes of Hazzard. Topps Rocky cards or even A-Team you could even vote ET. O-No I'm given my age away. Mr.Matt keep up the great job you do.
Great ideas, thanks Wesley!
Found 8 unopened boxes (2 each series 1-4) in my dad’s attic... think they’re worth more sealed, or open them and have them graded?
At .38 seconds you almost gave us the middle finger lol. Great video, very informational keep up the awesome videos. Question: Is there a big demand for these cards or no?
haha, yep, you are correct. It looks like I was swinging in a bird 😂 - the demand for gem mint 10 cards are in high demand yes. Some Star Wars collectors have lots of money and they want the best of the best and will pay top dollar for the best. However, they are very tough to find in near perfect condition. Even if you do open them from a fresh pack. Mint 9 copies don't reach selling prices anywhere near the gem mint cards. The highest selling mint 9 cards sell between $100 and $600 roughly.
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR thank you for getting back to me. I have to go through my cards and maybe I'll get lucky. I even have Charlie's Angels cards, crazy huh?
I can really use some professional input. I am dating myself but I was an avid collector when the movies came out. I have almost the entire collection, all the stickers too. My collection wanes as well, losing interest as I moved from adolescent to teenager, perhaps a half a dozen short towards the end of the series. My nephew doesn’t like Star Wars meaning I have no one to leave them to. What can I do to move this collection short of sending these cards to PSA for grading? I'm looking at some of them now and doubt they are mint, as meticulously cared for as they are given the unevenness of the card boarder cut. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 😊🙏
i have a bunch of this cards ,red ,blue and yellow are they ao any value
I'm noticing that the border cuts aren't centered on most of mine it seems. Likely what makes these particular cards so rare?
What's hard about getting a psa 10 in these is that just like any other card in the 70's, is the (1) centering, very hard to find...(2) these boxes are 42 years old also and have usually been moved around quite a bit so the corners get dinged...and (3) with all the colors used during this primitive printing era in the 70's, they have printing dots or splatter on a lot of them...I have quite a few of these graded and several 10's, awesome set to have from my childhood...card #1 Luke is an iconic card, kind like 1989 UD #1 Ken Griffey Jr, as we will see in the next and final episode, it started with Luke and ends with Luke
Ah, thanks for the insight!
Do you ever do private consultations regarding these cards? I am an amateur trying to figure out my first submission to PSA. Trying to figure out my 25 to submit. Help!
I have number 216 Hahn and Laura Coral about the escape plan how do I sell it
I have many of these card that I believe to be in very good condition but I cant say mint since I am no professional. I wonder if it is worth the investment to have them graded? I dont want to spend 200 dollars to have a card graded to find out its worth 100. any thoughts ?
How do you get the address to send the cards to PSA to be graded? I have #7, 9,18,21 & 61. Looked at the website and they don't appraise any trading cards that have a declared value less than $2K. Back to square one on the value of my cards.
I have all those cards but where to go to get them checked out ?!? Anyway I can show it to you !? Thanks
what series is the best prices?
I have 2 new box 1980 Star Wars first and 2nd series!!! Can u make video on them n value
So I have quite a few of these but my father did not take the best of care of them. That being said the rarity of them may still hold value. Even if they aren’t a Gem 10 or 9 or even an 8 is there still a demand?
I have all five sets of every single card, and they're all in mint condition how do I get them grated
I just found w whole binder of these cards who can I call to check these out?
What about 1/1 color proofs from Topps Vault from the blue series 1? If a guy out there has one of those in a 8.5 or better? Wowser. They were handled in preproduction meetings and very hard to get a 8 or better. In my opinion those cards are priceless.
I wouldn’t mind seeing one on the 1976 Topps Star Trek set. Pretty rare and fraught with production issues. And like someone else said, 1959 Fleer Three Stooges would be a great one as well.
Oh wow, the Star Trek would be a fun one, I'll look into making a list on those! And the Stooges
The 1976 topps star trek set would also be a good non-sports-card set to do the top 15.I believe there are less than 100 cards in that set.
I have 18 out of the 25 which I believe are in mint condition. Should I get the graded?
Hey bro where would I sell these I have them in perfect condition??
Just found a shit load of these in my attic, are they still worth something if they're not in gem mint condition?
I have a cuestión. I have the 1997 cards trilogy is word sorting or only the 1977
I have many of these cards have no idea what they’re worth from 1977 red yellow and blue ones How do I get them graded would love to sell all these
What do you think about the newer Star Wars Living Set?
I was 9years old in 1977 when I started collecting StarWars cards but stop after the Empire Strikes Back movie came out..I wish I'd never gave those cards away ...I was trying to impress my Elementary school friends as usual...Lol.....LOOK WHAT I GOT..Lol🤣🤣🤣🤣🤖👽😈🙉🧕🦹♀️
I have quite a few. How do you psa. Or gradevthem again And also where do you go if you want to price all of them. If I wanted to
Here's a link to submitting to PSA: www.psacollector.com/best-way-to-submit-your-cards-to-psa-for-grading-2018/
How do I PSA cards?
I have a lot of these cards. Not in mint condition but in collectible condition (ie haven’t been through the washing machine, aren’t ripped, etc). Curious, taking the Princess Leia one as an example....you say it sold for $2551 and I see on PSA it’s listed as that...but it also says just beneath that the “SMR” is only $60. What does this mean? I have over 500 cards combined from the 1977 (Star Wars) series through Empire and Return of the Jedi, as well as the oversized “reel” series (?).
I have all 25 cards still in the sleeves. I suppose I should have them all graded.
Please do an update video of these. Prices are insane right now.
I have several of these cards you were speaking of and lots more of others. I found them in my collectible box of things. I collected these back when they came out, so I am the original owner. How do I get these graded?
You can send it to a grading firm. There are multiple like Psa, bekett and various other’s.
Where do people sell these cards
The #1 ranked card, Luke Skywalker, is the most valuable because it was always the top one in the wax packs that were sold, so it had a natural tendency to become bent or folded or creased in some way, so finding a gem mint perfect 10 is exceptionally rare. Nothing to do with the composition dude lol but there was some good number crunching in this video that helps me, thanks!
Thanks for the feedback! Being #1 is tough when it comes to card sets bc they sit on top. Cheers!
I just came into possession of about 150 cards, are all of them worth "something"?
Can you please update this with a new video. How about top ones of each color as well.
I was curious I just came across a couple of these cards. How do I get them PSA approved and are there any fakes around that I might mistake as real?
A sports card store usually has a service to officially grade cards. Its not cheap but it can add a huge amount of value.
I do have these cards ...ungraded. Alot of them look really good! It would cost me alot of money to have them graded. I've had these cards for a long time. Since 1977. Some are hammered. Surprisingly most of them are in nr mint. You have me looking more closely at them. I have original Battle Star Galactica too.1979. I collected a ton of non sports and I just found them all..Jackpot! Going through them now...wanna help? Lol!
lol, I would if I could!
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR I wish you were close by man, that would be great! I've been eyeballing thousands of my cards searching for those gem 8 to 10 candidates! Lot of work , but it's fun to find a few candidates here and there. My problem is I've been collecting since 1967...lol. I ain't done yet! Thanks for the great videos!
Hi! I stumbled across a full set of 1977 star wars topps cards series 2 (red) UK edition. I can't find much information on these. What do you suggest i do? Do you know anything about them?
Here's a link to that set with auctions sold: www.psacard.com/auctionprices/non-sport-cards/1977-star-wars-u-k/47107 should help you out!
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR thanks!
I have come across several of these cards in my home from my husbands collection. They are in extremely GOOD condition. How can I find out how much they are worth today and how do I go about selling them?
I was just watching this video I have six of these cards although they’re not in mint condition they were just in an old shoebox was wondering where to get started as a matter of fact the number one card with Luke Skywalker I have two of them
Just went through my old Star Wars cards, I have about half this list with some doubles. Too bad I didn’t take care of them very well as a child…
How do we get in contact I have all of them
