    • @Catch_Me_If_You_Can yes, they don't need a mouth after they cocoon, their only purpose at that stage of life is to mate & lay eggs & so evolution has removed all organs that take up space that could otherwise be filled with more eggs. I can definitely confirm this, because my last batch a couple of them seemed to still be large in their abdomens after dying, so I cut them open in case there were still eggs in there I could get out to hatch & there is NOTHING in there other than an egg chamber. Some of my boys took over 2 weeks to starve to death :'( It's so sad to watch! I never know what's best to do with them when they're like that

    • Working for low wages is way worse than being killed. Got it. Regardless dude, this video doesn't address how much they make. It's about the silkworms. It makes no sense to expect people to talk about every tangentially related issue in every video. You're using a red herring.

      @Yusuf1187@Yusuf11876 жыл бұрын
    • wtf do you mean 'tangentially related', this video isn't just about the silkworms, its about the PROCESS of making silk and the human workers are just a much a part of the process as the silk worms. If you argue for the 'rights' of the caterpillars but not the rights of the human workers who often work in inhumane conditions to make this silk then your argument as well as your logic is flawed.

      @TheEpicnesscontained@TheEpicnesscontained5 жыл бұрын
    • Wow, I'd never thought I'd see the day that people were comparing human life, to that of an insect. The process of harvesting the silk is unfortunate for the worms, for sure, and if given the chance to put an end to it, I'd support it whole heartedly. However, I would stomp on 100 of them without a second thought if it meant a better life for just ONE of those workers

    • (from wikipedia) "If the animal is allowed to survive after spinning its cocoon and through the pupal phase of its lifecycle, it releases proteolytic enzymes to make a hole in the cocoon so it can emerge as an adult moth. These enzymes are destructive to the silk and can cause the silk fibers to break down..."

    • Yeah, so logically we should just kill whoever we feel like if they have something we want. What does it matter? You're killing accidentally anyone. Heck, people die from car accidents all the time. No different than running someone over on purpose.

    • lmao, how does their message in anyway say we should kill whoever we feel like if they have something we want. all they said was 'dont cry for the worms, because you are already killing things by walking and breathing' they're just ostracizing the people sad about the worms. not saying we should kill whoever we feel like. read messages properly next time OHP77. it can cause confusion.

    • we can't swing from tree to tree anymore either, do you find that cruel too? If we don't need to do something to live, we tend to lose the ability to do it over thousands of generations. Silkworms have been so wrapped in cotton wool & protected for so many generations that they lost the ability to do things like fly. Good lesson in that as to what will happen if we keep wrapping our kids in cotton wool

  • Y'all need to stop acting like you feel bad for the worms especially since they've been doing this for thousands of years and you have worn silk at least once in your life.
