"That'll never happen to me." - Stupid People, Everywhere
Have you ever asked yourself "What if Celestia went to the moon? You know, to see how Luna felt?" Well, this song answers that question.
And now, we present to you another deceivingly happy-sounding song with a depressing message. We're all super proud of this one! Envia Sun, SaxPon3 and TheMusicReborn are all amazing to work with, and I couldn't have done it without them.
Check out their stuff!

Lyrics:
(v1)
I guess I'm up in space
Well, what can you do?
You shouldn't challenge fate
When you're likely to lose
It's been a while
Since I took a vacation
I'll just relax and watch
As they raise the sun
(chorus)
So, this is what it's like
Stepping in sister's hooves
This is how it feels
When you got nothing to lose
And I can't help but think
Of everything I've done wrong
But now that I know, it's a wonder
Why I sent her here for so long
(v2)
It's been a couple weeks
And I'm starting to shake
I can't believe I thought
I was taking a break
No walls to hold me in
But I can't break out
Of all the stars around me
I'm losing count
(repeat chorus)
(v3)
It's been a thousand years
Never felt so alone
I don't know what I learned
I just want to go home
I'm not the princess
Everyone knew before
My sunlight hides away
My shadowed core
(repeat chorus)

  • Here are my thoughts why I think this is a perfect song for what it is trying to be. (I am not an MLP fan) This is an alternative fan made scenario where after the 1000 year banishment Luna returns from the Moon and she successfully takes revenge on her sister that did this to her, by banishing her to the Moon. (Eye for an Eye style) The song is sung by Celestia after she gets banished by Luna. It starts with her being very cocky saying how she needed a vacation anyway and how bad can this punishment really be. After a couple of weeks she is feeling very irritated, questioning herself how she could have thought this was ever going to be fun, having literally nothing to do. In the last main part of the song it has been 1000 years of being alone with nothing to do. At this point she is completely broken. She doesn't care about who was right, what happened in the past, etc. she just wants to get back home and she is willing to do anything to get back, yet the irony is she is powerless to do anything to change her situation. The chorus is also amazingly done, for it stays lyrically the same, but if taken in context with the main part that precedes it, it changes in meaning. The first time Celestia is asking herself "This isn't so bad, I have nothing to lose I can just relax and enjoy having no responsibilities." At the end of this part she questions herself why she kept her sister here for 1000 years instead of making it a shorter period. A rhetorical question with not very much thought put into it at this point in time. After the second part she is saying "My sister probably felt the same irritation I am currently feeling, why didn't I bring her back sooner, wouldn't it be enough to leave her here for a month?" After the last part she is full of sadness and regret for what she had done. She knows what her sister did was wrong, but the punishment she received was way too harsh. And in the end Celestia realises that she caused the bigger evil by doing this to her sister and completely understands why this is her current punishment. I love the singers voice and the instruments they have chosen, but that is a personal preference with the backup vocalists also meshing well with the main singer's voice, almost like they are her echoes/ cries. The saxophone after the second chorus is a great addition to the song because this is an instrument often used in blues to represent loneliness which makes it perfect for a 1000 year old timeskip of being alone. The beat is good, making the song feel like it has been going on forever (and making it great for looping). And the tone of the song is melancholic, without the lyrics it sounds happy with a touch of sadness which makes it work very well with the mental transitions the character goes throughout the song.

    • I'm so glad you noticed those details! Most of them were intentional, but I didn't know saxophones in general represent loneliness. I should have known that, but I guess I just never thought of it that way. But yeah, when I really want to hone in on a neat concept that I'm certain other people will be interested in, I tend to go for the fully immersive experience, i.e. - choosing the right vocalist to represent the character, making the instrumental fit with the theme, and making sure the lyrics are 100% relatable but also the catchiest they can possibly be. The vocalist sounds a lot like Celestia, the instruments and mixing sound very spacey, and the lyrics hit the nail right on the head in my opinion. Thanks so much for your comment. ^^

    • Entirely possible. Maybe it was nice to be in peace for a thousand years, but Nightmare Moon could've been beaten, heck, fifty years after being banished and Luna would be just as grateful to be back as she is in the first episode. A thousand years is a loooong time! I guess Celestia needed time too, since she could beat Nightmare Moon herself but didn't know if Luna would be okay after however long, and eventually decided to let the thousandth year come and for it to be a test for the next ruler(s) of Equestria, but dang, 1000 years is still... A long time. Celestia knew that Luna wouldn't be trapped in the moon forever, even though that's what she told Equestria, for them to feel safe. And Celestia definitely wanted her sister back! It hurt, every day thinking about what she had to do to Luna, but as I said before, she didn't know if her sister had gotten over everything yet. An unrelated thing, it's funny how I literally just a had autocorrect correct to Equestrian and Celestial, and all I had to do was remove the first letter 😂

      @eglol@eglol11 ай бұрын
    • @@eglol You seem to be assuming that Celestia actually intended to banish Luna for a thousand years, which I don't think is at all what happened. When we see the mane six use the Elements, they don't really know what they're going to do, and I assume Celestia was the same. If it was at all under her control, she would've brought Luna back centuries ago.

      @heatherrockwell9012@heatherrockwell901210 ай бұрын
    • @@heatherrockwell9012 That's possible too, and honestly, it makes very much sense that Celestia would've brought her back before if she could. But it's all uncertain. Celestia might have thought about really wanting her back, but still not knowing if she would be okay yet, for a while at least. But Celestia definitely wouldn't have wanted to be alone, and bringing Luna back earlier than 1,000 years might have been worlds better for both of them at the time. Everybody has a different idea of how magic works... and it's important to share our thoughts to get a better understanding of how things could be and other opinions could fix problems and inconsistencies.

      @eglol@eglol10 ай бұрын
    • @@eglol I don’t think Celestia ever expected Luna would come back okay; she doesn’t, Nightmare Moon does. I can’t really imagine Celestia would’ve been surprised by that.

    • They are immortal deities. I don't think 1000 years is that long to them. It would be a torture to a mortal. We don't know what did being sealed into the Moon mean. Maybe Luna had fun with Sailor Moon all this time. Maybe she lived in Escaflowne world. Maybe time went 1 minute for her 1 year for us. Let there be mystery smoothing the corners of the storytelling. =)

It's an undescribable feeling to sent away the “person” you love the most, wait for years and years (I don't know if she knew that her sister could come back or not, that's my dilemma 😅) and then, finally, hug her again. • It's criminal how good this song is (I've re-listened over, and over, and over again). Seeing as I've been in a Twilight 2.0-and-Changeling-anarchy mood, respectively, I'm just stuck thinking "how far could this song be stretched, to mean exactly the same, but for different reasons for different characters?". Either way, this song is _awesome._ Absolutely _awesome._

  • Man . . . This song bops! I love the beat, and the way the singer sings the lyrics! But now that I look at the comments, I really haven't realized how sad this song is (besides the idea of Celestia learning what she really did to Luna by banishing her to the moon for so long). I applaud you for the idea and concept!
