Every single workplace on the planet has them, and in a lot of them, they're more than half the workforce. The reason for this can be summed up with a nice old labor rhyme: "Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime, that's why i shit, on company time."

    • Residential construction is a race to the bottom. Contractors are just focused on getting to the next job, to keep the accounts receivables coming, covering the last screw up or lowball bid. Oftentimes, for anything that doesn't require a permit, you're better off just hiring a tradesman or two that's willing to do side work.

    • Guys, you weren't carpenters, or else you could tell that those nails came out of another block that had been nailed in the wrong spot, and then banged out (removed) with a hammer. That's exactly what the nails look like after you do that. The only thing wrong is that someone used 3 nails on each side of the block. 2 is enough so that it doesn't twist. Too many, and you start cracking the weak pine we use now. There's no need to remove those nails - if they didn't puncture wire to begin with, they won't puncture it just sitting there behind the sheet rock. They kept missing studs and sending nails right thru the sheathing. Eventually I heard a decompression sound, they hit a hose bib and shower assembly. Some romex was hit. We put nail plates on the inside but that means nothing when theyre nailing the outside. A perfect reason to wait to have the trades start until the frame is done done.

      @valeriandamoclesmarcellus8756@valeriandamoclesmarcellus87564 ай бұрын
    • @@valeriandamoclesmarcellus8756The sadest part about this is its the sparkies fault. I agree with the first comment something likely got changed. That being said how do we know the sparky is responsible for this? For starters subtrades are known to be "lazy". They make more money when the work gets done quicker because they get paid by the job. This leads to them cutting corners especially when they come back pissed off to redo something that was already completed. Those nails are sticking out of the studs because its quicker and easier for the sparky to flip the blocking up and run wires instead of drilling holes to fish wire through. How do i know all of this? Over a decade of experience in the construction industry. How can i prove thats what happened? In the video notice the blocking 2' up from the floor is oriented to match the width of the studs? This is the correct orientation and it remains that way because it does not interfere with any wiring as you can see. Among many other things the blocking prevents the studs from twisting and also provides support for the edges of drywall sheets. That repositioned blocking no longer prevents the studs from twisting and only provides support for drywall on one side of the wall if it even catches the 4' mark anymore. From sparkies perspective thats the next guys problem. In the rest of the building you can see all the blocking is oriented to match the width of the studs. The blocking that the sparky flipped sideways was held in place by the nails that are now sticking out puncturing the wire he just ran. How do we know those nails held that blocking they're "coincidentally" right beneath? Well none of those nails serve a purpose. You can see they're not holding anything. All they're doing is sticking through the studs. These "purposeless" nails have a counterpart on the next stud over that happen to be at the same height nailed towards their direction almost as if they were once holding something in place. As for the second clip with the nails sticking through the drywall? Sparky gets a pass on that. Those are likely temporary to hold something and that wire was already there.

All the good stuff gets shipped to japan and china out of the port of seattle, because places like japan dont have enough lumber trees, but they actually have some building standards. This mentality is why construction costs so much, and is always over budget, because it starts at the bottom, and the shit just works its way outwards, overtime hours for all the finish trades. Drywallers will be making wonky cuts to fit the wonky walls, the windows wont fit, and will need reframed, everything will be out of square and need shimming, trimming, and patching, and everything will need to be redone, or fixed at least twice. Thats the north american construction industry.

    • @@chillchinna4164Right above those nails sits the blocking they once held before the sparky had to come back and flip them up for room to run his wires quick and easy instead of taking the time to fish wire through holes he should've drilled through that blocking instead of reorienting it. The nails in the studs happen to be at the same height as the opposing nails in the next stud over because reorientation of that blocking left them exposed. That punctured wire is all on the sparky. After exposing those nails its quicker to just bend them down and run your wire over than it is to pull them or take the time to work around them. The other nails lay flat because sparky bent them all down and when sparky was likely rushing to get this work done he snagged that one nail in the process which caused it to puncture the wire. Since sparky was in a rush he probably didnt notice this happened or noticed and chose to not give any F's.
