The KW looks way better for the job than that Pete! I would think it's still a little too long for the patch though. Long wheelbase on those tight back roads can be a b***h! Hauled oil for many years on roads like yours and my priorities would be Power, Full lockers, Good road clearance (often overlooked), and a single bunk with corresponding wheelbase. I would add in a good oilfield bumper with a solid point to pull from and make sure the frame is solid enough (extra crossmembers?) to handle the twisting and pounding of hauling off-road. It's DEFINATELY much harder on the truck than cruising down the highway! Congrats on taking the leap and I'll be looking forward to the stories you'll come up with once winter gets there!

The black KW is a sharp truck. Your comment at the end almost sounds like Iowa weather, no snow until the 9th. We got 12 inches in 24 hours with 40 mph winds. Another 3 inches tonight and 4 to 8 more Thursday and Friday. Then the bottom drops out 14 below night. 4 below days. Caucuses Monday night. Wish the Eastern news media would go home, they are freezing at 30 above. Its a hoot. Safe travels.

Just get something that pulls well, doesn't break, rides as comfortable as possible, makes it as easy as possible for you to do your work, because it looks like in twenty miles you won't be able to tell what color it is.

Im sorry Mike but I had a wee chuckle to myself when looking at the 900L tractor unit. I noticed beside the fuel tank and cab step, Is that a DEF tank. And I thought "Oh the irony" while hauling crude oil which some do gooders claim to be bad for the environment. This truck will be equaling out the bad stuff with its clean exhaust.... Nice looking truck by the way. I was also curious about wheelbase length but we also can see you know what your looking for in a truck. Not sure how it works over there is the longer wheelbase and extra axle enable you to haul heavier weights or to reduce road taxes? I hope it hasn't got a paccar in it. 🙄

3.25 rear’s would be okay with right transmission. I had a truck with 3406c 425 with 13sp 3.25. And it would out pull any 550. And that is long grades and long mountain passes. Not weight your pulling but 90000 pluse.

And I thought "Oh the irony" while hauling crude oil which some do gooders claim to be bad for the environment. This truck will be equaling out the bad stuff with its clean exhaust.... Nice looking truck by the way. I was also curious about wheelbase length but we also can see you know what your looking for in a truck. Not sure how it works over there is the longer wheelbase and extra axle enable you to haul heavier weights or to reduce road taxes? I hope it hasn't got a paccar in it. 🙄

3.25 rear’s would be okay with right transmission. I had a truck with 3406c 425 with 13sp 3.25. And it would out pull any 550. And that is long grades and long mountain passes. Not weight your pulling but 90000 pluse.
