Metromans new passion is music BECAUSE he's so bad at it. It's the one thing his powers can't help him with, therefore he's getting better on his own talents.
HOLY... I didn't even think of that. That's some amazing writing.
He's Bad.. He's Bad... He's really really Bad
Um...that isn't only thing he can't do well...
He's bbbbad to the bone!
Granted he has talent.
In the beginning, Roxy is wearing a red dress as the opposite of blue, when she hates Megamind, a purple one when she's conflicted about him, and at the end a full on blue one when she's full on into him.
That’s good to know of a body language.
I never noticed that!!! 😱😳
That's love for you!😍

MEGAMIND > DESPICABLE ME change my mind
Is despicable me still worth checking out?
@@TimotheeReacts absolutely
I would need to rewatch despicable me to debate this further
To be fair, Despicable Me is still pretty good, I’m just biased towards Megamind lol
If I remember correctly, they released at the same time, and with similar plots, so when Despicable Me outperformed, we didn’t get any Megamind sequels, which is big sad
When I was little, I always wondered "Why is Hal being so weird?" Now that I'm much older, I realize he's basically the animated version of a "nice guy"
If I've learned anything, it's to avoid any guy that claims he's super 'nice' and 'one of the good ones.' Big warning signs to gtfo.
@@SnidgetAsphodel I guess the opposite of this is people like me, who claim they are a$sholes and make no attempt to be otherwise.

In the beginning, when Megamind is ordering the laser to fire, if you pay really close attention, you see Metroman blip out for a second and show up behind Megamind, as foreshadowing for later when he's retelling the story about using his super speed to clear his head.
They made a reference to the origins of Superman.

Woah cool!

@@mayhasdreams1344 damn I can't see it
The scene where Hal flies Roxy around the city thinking he's being romantic is supposed to be a parallel to that famous scene in Superman where he does the same thing with Lois Lane.
Ditto the Marlon Brando version of space dad.
ugh this scene with Hal is downright *terrifying* I nearly had a panic attack while watching it for the first time because it's so relatable to real life.
I've seen this movie so many times and it still scares me. It's so well done.

MARKIPLIER LMAAAO
I got dbz vibes tbh
For even better continuity, at 12:23 or so you can see Metro Man appear to phase out of existence for a bit and see him behind Megamind while he's contemplating.
The personality even matches
Metro Man and Megamind are just two sides of the coin. Yet the society didn't gave them any other choices: Megamind became evil because that's how the people around him treated him, nobody bothered to see if there's goodness in his heart, you can tell that no matter how evil he is, he got easily emotionally attached to Roxy because that was the first time Megamind got treated special by someone (tho not directly). Metro Man became the savior of the city because that's how the society sees him ever since. He's obligated to serve and become their hero, but just like Megamind, Metro Man didn't got any choice to do want he wants aside from saving Metro City on daily basis. That's why he retired, he got fed up of constantly beating the crap out of Megamind. I even think Metro Man feel bad for Megamind at some point, he let him win.
Wow
Metro Man obviously turns around on Megamind, so that's def correct. He rooted for him.
That and I think Metro Man came to understand after school that Megamind didn't want to be evil, so he left to let Megamind find his own way back to his core good self that even Minion didn't seem to see for most of the movie.
you mean ALMOST win lol but yeah, I'm pretty sure Metro Man felt bad for Megamind after he grew up, even though he was in on treating Megamind as troublemaker as a child.
Even their family on earth is the opposite. Metroman is raised in the perfect white household, yet we honestly don't see his parents engaging with him actively. Metromind has admirers but we don't see him with friends or pets. Megamind is raised in literal jail yet the prisoners are seen teaching and doing stuff with him, even if they are morally dubious. Megamind has Minion by his side.
One of the best well written part of this movie is Metroman didn't actually show up in the end fight. It has so many layers of good writing in it: 1, Avert expectations and surprise audience with Megamind impersonating Metroman 2, Convey Metroman believes Megamind can do this on his own 3, Megamind put up such a good Metroman because he knew Metroman this well and he's actually good at being a hero 4, Megamind didn't keep the facade because he is not looking up to be Metroman but be a unique hero on his own 5, Avoided "retired hero had a change of heart moment" cliche 6, In the meantime solidified the theme of this movie which is "choose your own destiny" 7, Showed Megamind's strong suit -- the mind can beat raw power 8, Both Metroman and Megamind's character arc is completed Boy I can't praise this movie's bold choices enough.
Good reasons
actually, number 4 isn't true, his plan was to never reveal himself to be the real hero that saved him. He was so sure that everyone wouldn't accept him as a hero which is another reason he showed up as Metro man because he tried to give the people the hero they believed in. Roxanne helped him by showing the town who actually saved them since he was so frowned upon as a villain. So basically Megamind was willing to give all the credit to Metro man because he expected that he wouldn't be accepted if he showed up as himself.
@@riverajustinmarks. yeah you're right. Even though Megamind by that point knew Metro Man wasn't really a hero, he was the hero the general public would accept. And it's good that it's Roxanne who reveals to everyone that Megamind is the true hero as she was his biggest critic
Though it is objectively better writing to have Megamind impersonate Metro Man, I still like to think about the beatdown a real Metro Man would have given Titan.

@@notalive5479 That took me a minute.
I remember hearing someone say once that the line “you are destined for-“ is so good because it parallels how megamind chooses his own destiny. Life gave him the path of a villain, but in the end, he was the hero. Same can be said for metro- I mean, music man

So Megamind's 'Space Dad' persona is a riff on Marlon Brando and his depiction of Superman's father Jor-El in the old Christopher Reeve movies
That’s right.
Ooh.
With the gestures of godfather.
@@sandrorocha790 Right! Lol. He was doing Don Corelone Brando instead.
It's important to note that Megamind isn't "not so smart" for pronouncing certain words wrong but simply UNEDUCATED. These days you really notice how we actually believe that if you're uneducated you're stupid.
Some of it might also be on purpose, like how he says shool, instead of school, but when he's with Roxanne he pronounces it correctly.
So I’ve seen people make the comparison Despicable Me and Megamind. While yes they both have the: ‘What if the villain won thing’. I feel like they had different messages. Despicable Me, was more about family. Megamind as people have said, is more about going against how people think you are, and coming into your own.
and both have Minion(s)
@@VVM2024 And I think between of them, Megamind has the only one yet irreplaceable best minion.
And oh, I just realized they literally named the villain guy as "Hal Stewart", it was like the combined name of Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart, both are Green Lanterns btw.
I thought it was referencing HAL the A.I villain of 2001 space odyssey...
And Jonah Hill played Hal Jordan in The Lego Movie...
"And this one's for space stepmom! You lied to her!" This is actually a true statement, because Megamind DID lie to minion. Edit: also apparently this was an ad lib by Jonah Hill. The line was actually supposed to be, "And this one's all yours!"
Also Megamind was doing a Jor-El from the Reeve Superman movie homage as his mentor.
why do u have soo many comments.. chill out its 1 video lol, i mean u can do whatever but thats quite alot

what's a little detail people hardly notice, is that Megamind's eyes are green, and when he changes form, into metroman, space dad, bernard, his eyes stay the same color, which was such a small detail
It's even the same for everyone. When Minion changes form, his eyes stay the same color too.

Megamind: Well, even the most heartfelt belief can be corroded over time! Metroman: Justice is a noncorrosive metal! Megamind: But metals can be melted by the heat of revahnge! Metroman: It's "revenge", and it's best served cold! Megamind: But it could be easily reheated, in the microwave of evil! Metroman: Well, I think your warranty is about to expire! Megamind: Maybe I've got an extended warranty! Metroman: Warranties are invalid if you don't use the product for its intended purpose! Roxanne: [groans] Girls, girls! You're both pretty! Can I go home now?".
The best scene is: Megamind: You're a villain alright, just not a super one. Tighten: What's the difference? Megamind: ...PRESENTATION!
Okay, one of the things I have to say about this movie is that I love Hal's setup as the villain, which is hinted at very early on with his interactions with Roxy. Hal is a classic "nice guy"and, when he gets powers, he gets even worse, as he has the power to do whatever he wants as a result. Even his reaction after Roxy rejects him on the tower after their "flight"adds to the fear factor. Megaminds "Space Dad"voice is similar to Marlon Brando(who played Clark's real father, Jor-El in the original(and actually good) Superman movie.)
Neat paralel: Megamind conects to Roxanne as a person, and when she rejects him he lets her go even tho he could kidnap her again Titan sees Roxanne as an object who owes him love, and when she rejects him he uses that as an excuse to indulge in evil A mature man (err, blue alien) growing as a person contrasted with an inmature incel refusing to be better

If you noticed the frame where Metro man was in the observatory, he bleeps out for a frame for the future news that he went to clear his head.
So narcissist I know you're Heart
I love the yellow roses in the beginning museum when megamind goes to pay respects. Yellow roses are seen as a sign of friendship.
Megamind reminds me so much of Loki always tricking people always playing the victim always gets better and better at his stunts from a diff world wants to rule earth but gets bored if there’s no one to stop him bc he thrives off fighting and in the end they really have a heart and really good people just misunderstood
Plus they're both blue, with the flair of dramatics.
- Love the gag of a crying baby always being there when Megamind appears (except at the end when the baby’s just confused) - The facial expression animation is really good. - Part of me wishes they made a proper sequel to this (yes, I know there some thing out there about him getting one of his evil inventions back), but I also don’t know if it could ever be as good as THIS story.
At 12:22 if you slow the video down to 0.25x speed you can see that Metro man quickly blink to the left side of mega mind (your left) right under his collar, foreshadowing later into the movie when he fakes his death. You can also see him blink if you look at the screen Metro man is on too. A very detailed part, most animations wouldn’t do that especially in 2010

I loved the fact that Brad Pitt playing a bad guy... well not bad, but definitely not nice. Great reaction, guys. This is a fun, movie with a nice message. And to answer your question, "why does he talk like that?' when he was the old man talking to Hal - It's an homage to 2 famous roles played by Marlon Brando. He was Superman's father in the first original Superman movie with Christopher Reeves, AND his portrayal of Don Corleone, in The Godfather, in which he talked like that.
So theory about the plot of this movie: When metroman's parents realized they had an alien baby with super powers they decided to capitalize on it and make him a super hero then they heard about another alien baby who landed in a nearby prison who was blue and had a big head and decided to capitalize again and rigged the game telling the warden to let the inmates raise him and set up a school to praise metroman and ostracize megamind to make sure metroman became a super hero and megamind became his villain
My favorite part are the “No You Can’t” Obama-era posters when MM takes over the city.

When Roxane finds out when Megamind lied to her, Megamind says he can explain. If you look in the foreground you can see his painting saying “no you can’t.”
You know, if a career in heroism doesn't pan out, Megamind can CERTAINLY get a gig in show business. That man's dancing is amazing! Plus, his taste in music is great! But he's rather awkward when it comes to social graces. Those yellow roses he brought to the Metro Man Museum were all wrong. Yellow roses symbolize happiness, when all he wanted to do was apologize for killing the hero. Ideally, he should have brought white tulips, which means "forgive me." 37:46. "Hello, everybody! If this movie came out today., this would've blown up.
The reason "Space Dad" talks like that is a reference to Marlon Brando's portrayal of Superman's father, Jor-El in the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeve and Margo Kidder. The voice he was doing was actually more like Brando from The Godfather, though. Referencing two movies at the same time like that really kind of made it funnier.
That was an extremely enjoyable reaction, you two. It totally leaves me mel-on-cholly that this amazing film never got a sequel. I just loved this film and can remember nearly every line, hahaha. A big one for my BestieSoulie and me, among her favorites as well. They'd clean up on a sequel - and make a lot of people happy as well I bet. Hope they do it one day soon. 🤞 LMAO the Forget-Me Stick at the end 🤣
Maybe if this movie didnt come around Despicable Me, it wouldve got a sequel
It's been years but this movie still hits hard, it's truly ahead of its era
12:20 you could notice metroman appear behind megamind for a single frame
When Megamind was talking to Metroman, you can see a milisecond where Metroman disappeared.
Megamind, Nick from Zootopia, Gru The backstory of them becoming bad guy and then turning good. All are amazing. Unlike old movies where its all black and white, good vs bad.
One of my favorite animated films.
This was a movie that for some reason, I had no interest to see from the trailer I saw when it came out. But then a couple years later, I saw it on a movie channel and just fell in love with it. This is such a smart flick!
Megamind living 3 lives at once. Villain, normal, and a space dad.
Legendary quote: Megamind: "Oh, so you're a villain, just not a super one!" Titan: "And what's the difference?" Megamind: PRESENTATION! 😂
Fun fact: If you slow down the scene where the city is watching metroman and megamind fight on the screens you can see metro man behind megamind for 1 frame😂
