The heron is in the water with a broken wing and cannot get out after being viciously attacked by coots.
This young heron was on a public footpath when it was disturbed by a pedestrian and it flew to the island. Unfortunately, it landed close to the water where the coots have a nest. They instantly attacked the heron and, as it tried to flee, it ended up in the water. Its wing was broken and it was unable to get out of the deep water. It was helpless. The coots continued to attack the heron, whilst in the water, and a couple of geese joined in as well. Even the little moorhen tried to smack the heron. It seemed like every bird in the lake wanted to batter the poor heron whilst it was defenceless.
When the heron was exhausted, the coots and geese sensed that it was no longer a threat and left it alone to suffer.
When I returned to the park, about an hour later, the bird had passed away.
These birds know they can’t give herons any chance or they’ll eat their young.
Herons have this bond to water, but when the water is to deep, to walk out they are fucked up, with their long legs. All the other birds now take revenge, on what herons usualy do.
Herons eat the offsprings of coots and other birds, so this is poetic justice.
Boots were like 🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶
The ducks are like "we're not getting involved, let the coots take care of it"
Ducks???
0:06 that heron looks scared for his life XD
When you're the obnoxious neighbor and everyone's all ganging up on you...
This is what happens to predators guys!! Stay away from the young
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who worked and worked hard for this wonderful clip.
Thank you too!
Well yeah! The heron is a predator. Eats all the little ducks, coots and geese.
I bet you eat animals too....yet you would not want to be killed like that for it.

Excellent video and the moral is ..NEVER argue or go near parent coots or Canada Geese .They love their young and no elegant long nose will eat them minus an all out war .This heron had an appetite the other day but got nowhere .Somewhere in YT is a video of an enraged coot drowning a bird of prey that grabbed her chick .The chick lived , the bird of prey was drowned by the coot .Have a pal in Holland and she has a video where coots were nesting and cows just came to look in curiosity at them .Hell again and the cows left .One coot against 3 or 4 cows . Imagine that ..Right spot at the right time Captain Camera :) Manchester has the lot:,Huge like 👍and ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ filming .The battle of Platt Fields Park .
I would run from a coot, too ! They are so angry. Size doesn't always determine the winner. Sometimes anger is more scary than size. You reap what you sow and these herons have brought a lot of misery to the geese, ducks and coots and now they have had some returned. I'm glad you found the footage of interest, Helena.
@@wildwings9104 It shows how villains are none in the animal world since all have to eat .However since many have labelled some the good birds and others the bad birds there seems to be a system .Coot are a hoot .They may not be beautiful or elegant but wow are they special in many ways .Geese actually have many young swallowed so are ultra cautious .Your filming impressed me .Not an easy scene to film so much going on .The reality of nature .Few would shed a tear were it a pigeon (.I would having rescued one once .) Hope the rescue shelter pigeon is due to leave soon .
Yeah. Once at the park, i was just walking by to see what kind of dragonflies and birds might I could see, and those geese started hissing thinking i was attacking them. The babies are so cute. But it's a terrible idea to try to harm them 😨
Poor heron It’s because they know it’s a predator
Worried parents took the control!
So good ~
Finally, I see a video where even a heron gets a spanking. All you ever see here is her attacking, hunting and eating the defenseless young of other birds !!! good defensive job coots :)
I agree. Compared to coots, geese are fools; they have no guts.
Nature not always pretty sun sets and picturesque mountains. There is a brutal side.
Just another day in the wild.
My whole class after they see me with a pack of mentos:
They give him a lesson.. he is still alive.! Animals have mercy
Karma for all the little ones he ate
That's sad, but to be honest, if it had a broken wing, it was better to get killed than die of starvation over a long time.
It also seems to have the right wing broken what prevents him to fly away.
This is so so sad, I wish I didn't watch. Yeh Herons are savage too but seeing it soo battered, bruised, injured and cold was super sad especially since according to the story it made the mistake of landing near a Coots nest, holy moly man rip guy
it was hunting the Coot Chicks. That was no accidental landing.
Herons eat almost anything , the coot chick parents defended their brood . Kinda like magpies , they eat baby chicks but then when a Cooper hawk preys on the magpie I don’t feel so bad .. sometimes the hunters become the hunted
So it goes, the eater can't win all the time
The herons got a broken wing!
What killed him was the artificial hard-armored bank that kept him in the water.
It had a broken wing prior to reaching the bank. Without human help it would have almost certainly died either way.
pity grey heron
It looked done for, a broken wing ? 💔😢
Le cameraman ne fait rien il regarde la souvrance de l'oiseau
il n' y a pas de bateaux et le cameraman ne peut pas marcher sur l'eau.
Brutal
I know alot of people hate them for eating smaller animals (which doesn't really make sense considering all predators will take small or baby animals due to it being safer and easier.) I felt really bad for the heron seeing its wing all messed up
someone will find it, and take it to rehab and it can go back to hunting, later on.
@@markgreiser464it died from its injuries though. Besides a broken wing as serious as that often results in euthanasia.
@@whackydawg1133 , I've watched so many Herons in action, and honestly it would have killed and eaten a Coot were it able to.
Rest in peace, heron.
Poor heron rip
Yes, it's sad. That heron was only a few moths old.
Застроили нелюди берег стеной и птица в ловушке
What was the ultimate fate of this bird? Was it left to die? Or did a sensible human deliver it to a veterinarian for humane euthanasia (the wings are so badly damaged there is little hope of recovery here)?
The heron passed away. The birds are at a small island in the centre of a lake, in a public park. There is no access to the island. It is evening time and the park wardens have gone home.
@@wildwings9104 Thank you for providing background information on the heron's outcome, I appreciate that.
usually it's forbidden from any human to go on those islands @@wildwings9104
Stealing Chicks and the Parent Birds almost killed him. Good.
Se lo merecia , dulce venganza
Herons might eat birds and fish but this guy doesn’t deserve this
A cuántos gansos y gallinetas dejo sin hijos la garza, aún que sabemos que es el siclo natural , se lo tiene merecido , rip
It’s very much like when you see a huge herd of wilder beast attack a week lion
I feel bad for the Heron it's my favourite bird :( it hurts to watch it suffering
It's sad, it's only a young heron, about 3 months old. It landed near a coot's nest and got attacked.
Why didn't you do something, you filmed it, but you did nothing to get him out of the water.
The birds are at an island. There are no boats and I can't walk on water.
First of all those are Canada Geese nick naked cobra chickens
Nadie hizo nada....
