MALERBE EN ROBERTS BRANGUS SOUTH AFRICA.
This breed is bred out of Brahma and Angus cattle. These two family farms can be found in Hertzogville and Hoopstad area. They describe the Brangus as follows.
"To produce a low-effort, efficient and economical breed that meets the high demands of the beef industry"
This is achieved as follows:
*Calving ease is of the utmost importance and we aim to keep the average birth weight at 32kg.
A registered Brangus is genetically buff. In this way, the labor and frustration associated with dehorning is eliminated. The Brangus is efficient in that a medium frame size cow (around 500kg) will carry a 230kg calf which is almost 47% of her body mass.
The Brangus is an economic animal that does not require special attention. Even stud bulls walk in the field. Strong maternal lines are a characteristic of the breed that reflect hardiness, adaptability, fertility and sufficient milk production.
