  • My happiest memories of my home living out in the boonies are riding out an ice or snow storm with my Vermont Casting Wood stove, no power and a continual pot of soup on the stove. Reading at night by candlelight and actually sitting with my inner thoughts. Get simple folks, the only way to stay sane. You need your health and inner peace to get thru this world.

But I think it's great that people make KZhead videos like this to enjoy. I makes me think that these are folks who went camping as kids and know all the tricks and stuff. This video in particular has 3 of my favorite things. 1) being alone. 2) riding out a snowstorm (in a tight cozy space). 3)a fluffy sidekick. This guy is a king among men 🍻

Also a cast iron fry pan will last forever & you don't need to always use your hot plate. Love your show. No shade being thrown at you, just my suggestions.

  • 55f is really impressive! Here in the cairngorms the internal temp drops to 40f during the night. The one thing I noticed was the wood stove looks tiny! But having an abundance of wood pre-cut, dried, covered and in situ is always a great plan as with having supplies inside to avoid having to go out in the middle of the night.

I can't turn the pages with gloves on, and a really cold finger won't turn the pages either. Hey, here's an idea. Buy paperbacks inexpensively at your local library book sale. Take a book to the cabin, read it, then repurpose the pages - fire starting or TP. Take one every time you go for an steady supply of....whatever.
