  • On Saturday, March 16th, 2002 my son was born just prior to the Red Wings game against the Boston Bruins. Boston won the game 3 to 1. Drapes scored the only Wings goal. A decade later I told him about it at a signing event. Drapes thought it was really cool that I remembered that and sent my son a lot of signed memorabilia.

I'm the only guy who ever did that.” -Happy Gilmore Side note: i’d rather have a hockey stick in a fight than a skate. Maybe if you gave me a couple days I could make something useful out of it but as is, it wouldn’t make a great weapon. I guess you could put the skates on your hands and be pretty dangerous though.

  • Why nothing about the old glow puck from the late 90s by FOX Sports? Technically that was the first electronic tracker used in the NHL. It used IR LEDs in the puck that the TV cameras would be able to detect. Speed of the puck was also tracked with the system where on the TV broadcast the blue glow shown on the puck would change to a red dot with comet-like tail when the puck traveled past a predetermined speed.

  • The Art Ross trophy is named after him for the same reason for the naming of a lot of NHL trophies. He presented it to the NHL. Just like The Stanley Cup is named after Lord Stanley, he was far from a championship hockey player, he was a politician. He donated the cup as the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, but the NHL renamed it. Art Ross is a Hall of Fame player, and was a VERY successful coach. He couldn't of played long in the "NHL" considering the NHL was founded during his last season. But he dominated in the NHA, which was the league the NHL came from. NHA records 100% are recognized as NHL records.

  • The calories is for real. I play at least 9-10 games a week and each game I’m burning around 1,500-1,800 calories or more depending on which team it is and how many subs we have. Like today for instance my first game of roller at 1:55 we had 1 sub and I sat for 2-3 minutes tops. I burned close to 2,000 calories in that game. Then I had to go straight to an ice game right after that started at 3:35 and we had only one sub line of defense and I burned around 1,700 calories in that game. So today just from hockey I burned around 3,700 calories. All together with regular daily routines I’m at a 5,600+ calorie burn for the day. Sometimes I play 3-5 games in a single day and get up to 7,500-10,000 calories burned.

For example, the Norris Division had the LA Kings with Montreal, Washington, Detroit and Pittsburgh, meaning it had teams on both coasts, in the Midwest and in Canada; the Adams Division had the California Golden Seals with Buffalo, Boston and Toronto. No sensical conference/division realignment occurred until 1981.

Four teams advanced to the playoffs so there where two semi finalist winners (best of seven series) that advanced to the finals (also best of seven). • Haha in Canada we talk about "Provincial money" and my wifes grandparents talked about how they were about to buy a place in BC with Saskatchewan money. Imagine buying the St Louis Blues with like $12 million even say $18 million Canadian Saskatchewan money!!! How FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR the NHL has come since the 80's. But the best games on KZhead are OLD TIME HOCKEY. Watch a 80's game and be like, wow this is Fn great!

  • Trading a player for one dollar is not noteworthy (pardon the pun). Teams waive players for nothing all the time. Hyperbolic nonsense.

    • The Pirates played in Pittsburgh from 1925 to 1930. They moved to Philadelphia to become the Philadelphia Quakers. They only stayed in Philadelphia as the Quakers for one season. They were the Pittsburgh Pirates for five seasons.
